Interview With Megan Slayer
I sat down (virtually) with Megan Slayer for a short interview. Megan Slayer writes hot erotic romances for Changeling Press and her latest release is Sweet and Wild, the 7th book in the fabulous Glow series.
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Sweet and Wild and why?
Megan Slayer: “If you can’t get your mind off Callum, then a plastic lover is the next best thing. It won’t talk back.”
I love this line because the heroine is in a funk and doesn’t know how to get out of it. We’ve all been there. Something let us down and we’re pouting. Doesn’t have to be forever, but there’s that period of pouting. Her best friend has the answer—or so she thinks—to Sarah’s problem. I laughed when I wrote it and I laugh when I read it. Plus, it’s so true.
Cynthia Sax: What makes Callum and Sarah right for each other?
Megan Slayer: She’s got a secret wild side she’s still figuring out and he’s all about helping her see just how wild she can get. Toys, bdsm games, sex in different places…he’s willing to try them all, but only with her. And they find some hot ways to…mate.
Cynthia Sax: Will you be writing more stories in your fabulous Glow series?
Megan Slayer: Yes! There’s a new wolf who popped up, Kreig, who wants his story told. I keep saying this will be the last Glow book, but that was two books ago, so what do I know. I keep writing when the characters inform me to. Kreig wasn’t even planned. He just showed up and wants his counterpart. I have no idea who he or she is, so I’m still learning. But I love that about this series. The Glow band is it’s own animal and the pieces of the other characters stories fit with it so well. Just a matter of figuring out who fits where.
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Megan Slayer: Don’t give up. Seriously. You never know who you will meet, what you will read, or where you will go that will be the spark for your writing. If you give up and listen to the negatives, then you won’t get anywhere. You won’t know what you’ve missed out on. I have to remind myself to yes, take reviews into consideration, but to also go with what’s in my gut and never quit. It’s hard sometimes because the need to write is there all the time, but the negatives can get under the skin and hurt, too.

Wayback Wednesday – This Enchanted Demon
Augustine, the villain in the first two Demon Chronicles stories (Demon on the Dance Floor and Demon Of Convenience), is a very aggressive, very sexual demon. Finding a woman strong enough for him was a challenge.
Gloriana is as sexual as Augustine is. She’s defiant, strong, has exhibitionist tendencies, and she’s able to stand up to her big, bad demon.

Cynthia Sax: What makes Canna sexy?
Sara Jay: Canna is gorgeously green with curves and cuteness, but she is also happy to play with almost anyone at the Pleasure Club! Patrons call her the club “poltergeist” because they get played with by what they think is a ghost. She loves to stay invisible as she teases patrons and gets them off. Basalt is an enormous stone warrior with sexy, long black hair and matching skin that drives Canna crazy.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Hard as a Rock?
Sara Jay: Several aspects of Basalt were inspired by my husband, so this story is my gift to him. It’s already really exciting to read my books aloud to him, but this one is going to be the best yet! Plus, it’s being released on our anniversary; how could it be more perfect than that?
Cynthia Sax: Where is Hard as a Rock set?
Sara Jay: Hard As A Rock takes place mostly in a futuristic sex club, where there are life-like human appendages, machines and rides made from a revolutionary material called Skintex. It makes the attractions feel real. There’s also a filtration system that keeps the place clean and disease-free—but it’s also in the future where most of those kinds of worries are gone anyway, which is nice!
Cynthia Sax: Does someone in Hard as as Rock have a secret?
Sara Jay: Oh, yes. The reader learns the secret within the prologue, but poor Canna doesn’t get it until nearly the end of the book! It’s a total happily ever after for her, I promise. She’s just going to have some conflict and some soul-wrenching yearning on the way!
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Sara Jay: I know it’s said often, but get to that page every single day. It makes a total difference, even if you only write a sentence or two. If I promise myself I’ll sit down and write for just ten minutes, it always turns into an hour or more of very productive writing time.
Cynthia Sax: What do you love about writing paranormal erotic romances?
Sara Jay: What’s not to love about hot creatures? 😉 From dragons to elves to gargoyles… Well, life is a whole lot more interesting with them in it! I also like making my characters have powers, or turning the tables on situations that humans would normally encounter. For example, in my book Nobody Rides for Free, three bikers think it’s their lucky day when they run across a seemingly helpless young woman in the desert. They have no idea that she’s an insanely strong faery looking for some fun—and they’re really the helpless ones next to her! In Hard As a Rock, there’s a sinister man who hopes to capture Canna and make her his—but again, he’s human, and he just underestimates the power of the supernatural.

I thought I’d share what I’ve been working on. (grins) Yes, I’ve been trying to stay out of trouble and focusing on the writing.
Avon Impulse
The Seen Trilogy (Releasing July) – He Watches Me, He Touches Me, and He Claims Me follows the erotic adventures of a not-so-innocent virgin exhibitionist and her billionaire voyeur. This is a contemporary erotic romance serial (Anna and Blaine are in all three books). The stories are already available for pre-order.
I’m currently writing the follow-up story to The Seen Trilogy.

Leopard Territory (Releasing June) – Leopard Territory is the 3rd story in the Big Cat Mates series. Sexy leopard shifter Adar stakes his claim on Jeanine, the receptionist at the Leone Agency (Royce Leone is the hero of Lion In Wait, the first story).

Warlord Reunited (Release Date Unknown) – Warlord Reunited, the 3rd story of the Warlord series, is currently being edited. This is the story of the eldest Warlord brother, Berke, and his bounty hunter gerel, Ellie. Berke and Ellie have bonded. Berke, fearing for his gerel, sends her far away from the Chamele system. Ellie isn’t the type of woman to be sent anywhere. (grins)
Warlord’s Mercy (Release Date Unknown) – Warlord’s Mercy is the 4th and final story in the Warlord series. It is in the queue for editing. All of the brothers and their gerels make an appearance in this story. One couple has BIG news.

Ohhh…. I received the cover for Leopard Territory (releasing June 20th from Changeling Press). This is my favorite of the Big Cat Mate series. I LOVE Adar. He’s SO sexy.

Wayback Wednesday: Americano Misto
Americano Misto is the first story I contributed to the multi-author series Cafe Midnight. These stories all feature interracial couples and are, of course, erotic.
Although I’m in a very happy interracial relationship (my wonderful hubby is Guyanese-Chinese), I tend to write about Caucasian heroines because I’m Caucasian. Many of my friends are NOT Caucasian however and one friend specifically told me she’d kick my butt if I didn’t write a black heroine ASAP. She called me a character racist. This friend, K, is a highly educated CFO of a major corporation and she also demanded that the heroine of Americano Misto be as sophisticated and intelligent as she was. I don’t mess with K so I did as I was told. Keisha is sexy and accomplished and Pierce is equally worthy.
Oh and mist sex is the BEST.
