The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I issue each other a challenge – to use every item we own one more time.
We’ll wear a stained t-shirt one more time while painting the fence, for example. Or we’ll wash and reuse a plastic takeaway container one more for storing leftovers.
We started this to reduce our garbage. But it has saved us trips to the store. And sometimes the reused items are better than any we’d buy. I’m reusing an old cider container for a watering can (I punched holes in the lid) and it is, by far, the best watering can I have ever used.
When I write my stories, I craft them so they can be reread also. I put details into them you might not have caught during the fast first read. And future stories will often stealthily refer to past stories.
This isn’t merely a gift I hope to give to you. It is a gift I hope to give to me. (grins) A reread is the greatest compliment a reader could ever give a writer.
