I often think of camouflage as a means of helping a hunter or a warrior. The being blends into the background and that allows them to approach their target undetected.
But camouflage can be as beneficial for the target or prey. Look at this wonderful katydid.
Doesn’t she look like a leaf? She’d be dang difficult for a predator to locate amongst the foliage.
Camouflage is an option for BOTH warrior characters and beings seeking to survive an attack.
