I rely heavily on the work and research of scientists in order to craft my stories. Many of these generous, wonderful people refuse to be compensated for their insights and their knowledge. They are helping SciFi Romance Writers because they love science and because they are giving, caring beings.
I tend to ‘sneakily’ give back to scientists by making donations to their favorite charities. I also donate a small portion of my book sales to ongoing science-based projects such as coral reef restoration and tree planting.
To date, for example, donations from the sales of my books have been responsible for the planting of approximately 253 coral fragments. We have also funded the planting of 450 trees around the world.
I feel it is important that you know SciFi Romance Writers give back to the scientists who supply us with so many awesome sources of information and inspiration. By reading our books, you’re helping to make the world and the universe a better and more ‘known’ place.
