Throwback Thursday – North Bound
Every time I think about North Bound, I smile. It is such a fun story.
Sure, North, the cyborg hero, is a bit serious. But his heroine, Myrina the Magnificent, is over the top in all the best ways. And Steve, the male-eating plant ruler of Myrina’s home planet, is absolutely amazing.
I love this story and I think you’ll love it also. (smiles)

Throwback Thursday – North Bound
Steve, the male-eating plant ruler of Balazoid Minor in North Bound, is one of my favorite characters I’ve ever had the good fortunate to write about. He doesn’t speak but he expresses himself VERY clearly and he is so fraggin’ arrogant. I love him.
North and Myrina the Magnificent are awesome also. They are wonderful apart and they are even better when they join forces and fall in love.

Throwback Thursday – Dominance And Dissent
One of the (many) things I love about Dominance And Dissent is Dissent’s relationship and love for Nibbler, the baby miljoonasuut he rescues from a vendor.
The average person wouldn’t view miljoonasuuts as lovable creatures. They are huge terrestrial crustaceans, similar to the tiny pill bugs/rollie pollies/potato bugs we have here on Earth.
Yet Dissent LOVES them.
Because Dissent loves almost all creatures (the Humanoid Alliance being one of the few exceptions). He has space in his huge cyborg heart for many entities.
Including, of course, Greer, his equally generous human female. He adores her, would trade his lifespan for hers with any hesitation.

I Saved A Life Today
It was the life of a pill bug, which is a much smaller version of the miljoonasuuts from Dominance And Dissent. The pill bug was inside the house and would have been stepped on and smushed. I relocated him outside the house, in the garden, and he scurried away happily.
Saving that life might not seem like a big deal to us.
But it meant the world to that little pill bug. (smiles)
Your small kindnesses might not seem like a big deal to you either.
But I suspect they are greatly appreciated by others.

Raw Desires

This cyborg finds that adorable.
Raw, a K model cyborg, is one of the lucky warriors who has located his genetic match. He hears his human female’s voice over the communication lines and immediately processes she is his.

Muse Food – Moose
I grew up around moose so it likely isn’t a surprise I write stories set on alien planets. Moose are alien looking creatures. (grins)
They’re HUGE. That vending machine in the background of this photo of a preserved moose in Wawa, Ontario, Canada? It is full size.
If a car hits a moose, the car is totalled and the driver is likely dead. Shotgun (riding in the passenger seat) is a serious role up north. The number one task of every shotgun person is looking for moose.
Moose are also the top of the food chain, even though they eat vegetation. Nothing messes with a full grown healthy moose and that includes bears.
Moose don’t know fear. They’re armed with a solid set of antlers, long legs and deadly hooves. AND they know how to use them.
I find moose…inspiring. And I have a healthy respect for them.

Over Torque
The safest place in the universe is in a cyborg’s arms.
Ceridwen has arranged transport for her and her cat on a freighter. They hope to find a new start and sanctuary on a distant planet.

North Bound features one of my all time favorite secondary characters – Steve, the male-eating plant ruler of Balazoid Minor.
Steve respects Myrina the Magnificent, the heroine of the story. He eventually grows to respect North, the cyborg hero, though he never truly likes him. (grins) The two of them are too similar for that.
