The Good Assistant – Second Scene
The Good Assistant, my sexy new contemporary erotic romance, will be releasing on October 21st.
Here’s the second scene
I stare at her. “How does he look at me?”
“Like he wants to lock you in his man cave. He’s super protective of you.” She tilts her head. “But maybe that’s because you’re his assistant. He relies upon you.”
John Powers doesn’t rely upon anyone. He built his real estate empire on his own, having no industry contacts, overcoming poverty and a lack of a college education.
“I always speak before I think.” Stacie laughs. “Forget I said anything.”
She talks about switching jobs and her new roommate and the movie she saw last night, her conversation not requiring any contribution from me.
This is a good thing as all I can think about is her observation about my boss. She has to be wrong. John doesn’t want me. He doesn’t even lust after the gorgeous supermodels and actresses he dates, his attitude toward the women apathetic.
The elevator doors open at the marketing floor. “This is me.” Stacie laughs again. “It was good talking to you, Miss Grant.” She exits, her skirt flipping upward, revealing more of her tanned legs.
I gaze at my reflection. The hem of my black skirt suit reaches my knees. I impulsively reach under my jacket and pull my skirt three inches higher.
My cheeks heat. I’m a fool. John won’t notice the length of my skirt. I’m his assistant, a woman who picks up his dry cleaning, manages his schedule and arranges his dates.
The doors open, revealing the slick, stylish executive floor. I smile at Nancy, the receptionist, as I pass her antique desk. She wears a headset, her lips moving, her words hushed. Although it is five thirty-five in the afternoon, four men in dark suits wait in the brown leather chairs.
They aren’t waiting for John. My boss is attending a charity dinner tonight. His meetings for the day are done.
I hustle along the hallway, my heels falling soundlessly on the padded brown carpet. Gold-framed pictures depicting Powers-owned real estate hang on the beige walls. The desks are spaced widely apart, the corner offices claimed by board members. Every meeting room is filled with corporate decision-makers.
The ultimate decision-maker has his door open, uncaring about his state of undress. I rush into John’s personal domain and skid to a stop, my heart squeezing, my body humming with awareness.
My boss stands facing his floor to ceiling windows, gloriously naked from the waist upward, his shoulders broad and his back straight. Silver scars, remnants of his rough childhood, slash his golden skin. His tan is natural, his forearms darker than his shoulders, and his dark brown hair is cropped close to his head. Tuxedo pants hug his narrow hips, his feet are braced apart and a phone is pressed to his ear.
A massive mahogany desk paired with a brown leather captain’s chair dominates one end of the office. The shelves lining the interior walls are filled with textbooks, every weighty volume read by my self-educated boss. John’s suit, shirt, and tie are discarded over the two guest chairs positioned in front of the desk.
I stride to the brass coat rack and hang his shirt beside his tuxedo jacket. John turns, and his gaze meets mine, his brown eyes dark and smoldering, resembling the richest, most decadent hot chocolate. My stomach flutters.
His profile is sharp, his thin blade-like nose and defined chin striking rather than classically handsome. More scars circle his neck. According to internet reports, a druggie slashed my boss’ throat when he was a teenager. Not even that brush with death could slow him down.
My gaze drops and my pulse increases. John’s tuxedo pants are undone, the v exposing stark white cotton briefs. A trail of fine brown hair travels downward from the indent at his navel, disappearing under the waistband. I lick my lips, wishing to follow this path with my tongue.
“What?” John barks into his phone. “Hell no, Bass.” He returns his gaze to the blue sky, his focus on the call. I remove the shirt from the wire hanger. “There has to be profitability in this project. I’m running a business, not a charity.”
This isn’t the complete truth. Powers Corporation does give money to charity. I tap his fingers. John lifts his arm, his frown deepening, and I slip the shirtsleeve over his hand, his musky male scent engulfing me.
John leans into me, lowering his big body, allowing me to dress him. The soft cotton pulls tight across his wide shoulders, his back muscles ripple and his biceps bulge. He’s a man in his prime, strong and beautiful, and I long to drag my lips over his tanned skin, to taste every inch of him.
Good assistants don’t taste their bosses.

My boss, John Powers, represents everything I want in a man. He’s the CEO and founder of a powerful company, that position having made him a billionaire, striking in an I-survived-a-bar-brawl sort of way, and too clever for my sanity.
I’m his assistant and desperately in love with him. I’d willingly serve him both in the boardroom and in the bedroom.
There’s one problem.
He doesn’t mix business with pleasure.
Ever.

The Good Assistant – First Scene
The Good Assistant, my sexy new contemporary erotic romance, will be releasing on October 21st.
Here is the first scene from the first chapter
As I push through the revolving doors and enter Powers Corporation’s glass and marble lobby, my phone hums against my hip. It can’t be my too-sexy-for-any-woman’s-sanity boss. He called me two minutes ago.
I drape the dry cleaning bag over my shoulder, unclip my phone from my skirt’s waistband and groan. It is my boss. John Powers, billionaire, CEO, and unabashed control freak, is calling me yet again. I sigh. He goes a little crazy whenever I leave the building.
“You have a conference call at five thirty with Rexton Bass, Mr. Powers,” I answer, skipping the formalities. My boss has no patience with small talk. I quicken my pace, my heels tapping against the fine basket weave tile.
“I know where I’m supposed to be.” John’s growl sends a shiver of excitement rolling down my spine, tightening my nipples and heating my skin. He’s the only man who can turn me on with his voice alone. “Where the hell are you, Grant? And where the hell is my shirt?”
John calls everyone by his or her last name. I wouldn’t mind this quirk if my last name was at all feminine or sexy. “I have your shirt, sir, and I’ll be in your office in five minutes.” I avoid the receptionist’s pleading gaze as I pass her desk, turning toward the bank of elevators. Men and women in dark suits crowd around her. All of these visitors want a meeting with my insanely busy boss.
“Get that perky ass moving. I don’t have all day,” John barks. “I’ll be waiting for you in my briefs.” The phone clicks and there’s silence.
My hot-as-hell boss is waiting for me in his briefs. I stare at the small screen, visions of tanned skin, hard muscle, and dark brown hair flooding my overworked, sexually deprived brain.
John doesn’t mean anything provocative by his statement. He doesn’t see me as a woman. I attach the phone to my waistband and press the button for the elevator. He doesn’t see me at all. I’m a resource, an extension of his office like his desk or laptop.
The elevator doors open and I step inside.
“Miss Grant, wait up!”
I hold the doors open and Stacie Moore, the company’s newest, most aggressive marketing coordinator, flounces across the threshold, her large breasts jiggling. She’s blonde, beautiful, and generously endowed. If she wasn’t an employee, she’d be a perfect candidate for John’s next one night stand. I select the button for the top floor.
“Is that Mr. Powers’ shirt?” Stacie plucks at the dry cleaning bag. “My, he has wide shoulders, doesn’t he?” Her blue eyes glow.
I know all about my boss’ potent affect on women. I fell in love with him during my job interview. That was three years ago and my obsession with him hasn’t dimmed, not one bit. “Mr. Powers doesn’t mix personal and business matters, Miss Moore.” I jab the button for the marketing floor.
Stacie lifts her eyebrows. “You get straight to the point, don’t you?”
I don’t say anything as I do get straight to the point. Working for John has trained me to cut through the bullshit.
“I like that.” She grins. “So you and Mr. Powers aren’t together?” She dances in place, her short skirt hiking up with each wiggle. “You aren’t a couple?”
A couple? John and I? I glance at my reflection in the mirrored walls. I remain a plain, flat-chested brunette. I haven’t magically become a curvy blonde, a woman worthy of these outrageous assumptions. “He’s my boss and that’s the extent of our relationship.”
Lines appear between Stacie’s finely arched eyebrows. “Mr. Powers doesn’t look at you like a boss looks at his employee.”

Interview With J.K. Coi
I sat down (virtually) with J.K. Coi for a short interview. J.K. Coi is a dear friend of mine, a wonderful person and a gifted writer. Her latest release is In Bed with the Competition, a sexy Contemporary.
Cynthia Sax: What makes your Ben, your hero, so freakin’ sexy?
J.K. Coi: Ben is confident and smart – OMG so smart. He wears these reading glasses when he’s working that just make you want to drool because they’re so nerdy that they’re somehow uber hot. And yet he can totally rock a business suit like nobody’s…uh…business and still look fantastic and chiseled in nothing but a swimming trunk. He’s quick to smile and loves to tease, but he also has a deep heart.
Cynthia Sax: That’s PUNtastic! (grins) What excites you about In Bed with the Competition?
J.K. Coi: I love the back-and-forth between these characters. They really challenge each other, and their story challenged me to give them an adventure!
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from In Bed with the Competition and why?
J.K. Coi: Well, I like this little snippet of a few short lines because it’s fun, but also sexy and intense, which is exactly what my two characters are like when they’re together! *grin*
“We have to be careful about cavorting with the enemy,” Beth murmured.
He stepped closer. “Is that what we are?”
“What? Enemies?” Her gaze fixed on his mouth, and he watched as she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. He’d been waiting for that all night.
He pulled her against him. “No…cavorting.”
Cynthia Sax: What creates conflict between Ben and Beth?
J.K. Coi: Ben and Beth have a past, but now they’re also each other’s biggest business competitor. Each of them are attending this industry convention in Antigua looking to snag a big opportunity that could make or break their careers.
Thank you, J.K. Coi, for joining us today!

Driven to succeed in all areas of his life, Ben couldn’t resist the temptation to make Liz his. But then she walked away, igniting a bitter rivalry. Competing for the same contract at a Caribbean conference ignites sparks too hot to ignore, and Ben’s determined to finish what they started, even if it’ll only last a few steamy, tropical nights.
Elizabeth’s resolve begins to crumble under Ben’s blatant seduction. Can she walk away from a hot island fling with the sexiest man she’s ever known with her heart intact, or will losing herself in Ben destroy everything she’s fought to achieve?

First Review For Flashes Of Me
We have the first review for Flashes Of Me!
CeeCee writes
“As with her previous novels, Sax has delivered an erotically charged, captivating, and intimately detailed story that flows faster than the speed of light! A great object of foreplay, I feel that any lover of the genre will find this satisfying. I look forward to the next installment!”

Reading buddies often comment on how fast my stories are. This isn’t because I’m writing less words or less pages (Flashes Of Me is a solid 200 pages). It is because of what I’m writing (less description and more action – especially the naughty action – grins) and because of my sentence structure. My stories will always be quick reads. It doesn’t matter how long they are.
Which is great because I know some of my reading buddies are already planning on reading all 1,200 pages of Sinful Rewards (with the first 100 page installment releasing in July) in one sitting.
Henley, the head of cyber security at Blaine Technologies, is a man no one crosses. He watches employees constantly using his network of cameras and enforces his rules by any means possible. Rumors of his violent past, his scarred hands and huge size have resulted in him being feared by everyone… almost everyone.
Katalina, the new intern, worries about the revelation of her most painful secret much more than she fears her sexy boss’s wrath. She sees the loneliness in his dark eyes, feels the gentleness in his marred fingers, tastes the need in his kisses, and she knows he watches her. His silly rules about not stripping for the cameras and no sex at the office are destined to be broken.
Kat likes to be watched. Henley can’t look away. Will this beauty be able to tame her beastly boss?

Back To Work For Kat
Kat, the heroine of Flashes Of Me, is in her twenties yet she’s never had a ‘real’ job. She has always worked for her father, assisting him with his business. She wasn’t paid for that work (she lived in the family home) so she doesn’t consider that role as being valid work experience. When she applies for a position at Blaine Technologies, she leaves the work experience section of her resume blank.
Kat is assigned to Miss Yen’s department (Miss Yen aka the Dragon lady appears in The Seen Trilogy – He Watches Me, He Touches Me, He Claims Me) and she’s given the lowliest task possible. Her responsibility is to shred highly confidential files, files Miss Yen can’t entrust to a shredding company. Kat doesn’t mind this brain numbing work. As she says “This isn’t my dream job but it’ll give me formal work experience and the next time I apply for a position, that section won’t be blank.” I admire Kat’s attitude.
As I admire my dear wonderful mom’s attitude. When my parents’ marriage broke up and my mom was left raising six kids on her own, she was forced to find her first ‘real’ job (as Kat would call it) outside the home. My mom was in her late forties, her university degree was in Latin, a dead language, and she had no connections.
She didn’t whine. She didn’t complain. She put on her big girl panties and applied for any job she was remotely qualified for. She went on her first interviews, competing for positions against teenagers. Her first boss was half her age. She was scared and tired but she did it. I was and still am extremely proud of her.

A New Start
January is the month many of us make a new start. We start new jobs, move to new cities, try a new exercise regimen, learn new skills. I often attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. I learn all about the emerging technologies, meet new people and try too many new buffets (grins).
Kat, the heroine of Flashes Of Me, desperately needs to make a new start. She travels from New York City to L.A., assumes a new identity (she uses her mother’s maiden name) and starts a new job (as an intern at Blaine Technologies).
As Kat shares…
***
No one in this coffee shop knows who I am. I stand in the line, waiting to place my order. They don’t know about my past. They don’t know my last name. I tap my lavender heels against the floor, drumming an up-tempo tune into the tan-colored tile. They won’t remind me why I shouldn’t be happy.
I need to be happy. I need to laugh, to have fun, to focus on this fresh start. If I don’t, I’ll cry and I promised my father I wouldn’t cry. I plaster a silly smile across my face and I tap my heels harder against the floor. These two actions lighten my mood, allowing me to cope with my emotions.
***
Kat can’t deal with her past so…she doesn’t. She leaves her past behind, pretending it never happened. Strangers don’t know her. They don’t know THE truth. They only know HER truth. She can be anyone she wants to be.

Kat’s New Year’s Resolutions
Kat, the heroine from Flashes Of Me, wanted to share her New Year’s Resolutions for 2014.
1) I will stop flashing. Last year…errr…week, I flashed a man or two or four on the subway, a quick lift of my blouse as the train rushed past. I doubt they saw anything. This year, that number will be zero.
2) I will gain some job experience, real job experience with someone other than my father, so that section of my resume will no longer be blank.
3) I will be taken seriously. I can’t help it if I have blonde hair, big breasts, and impeccable taste in fashion. I have other things to contribute to the world. I don’t know what those other things are right now but I will find that out soon.
4) I will look for the positives in every situation. My father says they’re there. Over the last couple of months, they’ve been more challenging to find. This will change in 2014.
5) I will be happy…even if I have to move clear across the country to do this.

First Excerpt From Flashes Of Me (Adult Content)

This is a first look at the first 1,000 words of Flashes Of Me. These words haven’t been edited so please forgive any typos (and all writers have typos).
Chapter One
The bleary-eyed woman swaying in front of me yawns, adding vocals to my beat. For L.A. locals, it’s six in the morning. For a recently displaced New York native such as myself, it feels like nine o’clock. I’m eager to start my new job and my new life on the west coast.
I’m two hours early. The internship orientation session at Blaine Technologies is scheduled for eight o’clock sharp, not one minute before and not one minute after. Although caffeine is last thing I need, standing in line at this coffee shop gives me something to do and someone to watch.
I slide my gaze to the fascinating someone waiting at the front counter. The biggest man I’ve ever seen in my entire life looms over the cash register, his feet braced apart as though he’s preparing for battle. His ebony hair is cropped close to his head, hiding nothing, and he’s dressed completely in black like a villain from a 1970’s spy movie.
I survey my behemoth’s broad shoulders. It’s all him under his jacket, not a hint of padding disturbing the cut. His suit is bespoke, custom made especially for his big body, and I suspect the designer is English. My mystery man is wearing Barker Blacks, his leather shoes as large as the rest of him. Even his matching dress shirt is well made, the collar and cuffs stiff and crisp.
He glances over his right shoulder, meets my gaze, and I inhale sharply. His eyes are as dark as his ensemble, his nose flattened and his chin square. Everything about him screams power, strength, vitality, and the woman in me responds, my nipples tightening, pressing against the blazer of my favorite lavender suit.
My behemoth returns his gaze to the frazzled barista and I exhale, my head spinning. It has been years since I’ve allowed myself to notice a man, to think about what I want, what I need. My fingers tremble as I smooth my flared skirt. I want this stranger desperately, more than I’ve ever wanted anyone in my life.
This is a problem, as I have no idea how to snag his attention. My last date took place when I was seventeen and I suspect flashing my breasts at a pep rally won’t land me this sophisticated man. I chew on the inside of my cheek, having no other clever ideas.
I ponder my next steps, and my stranger moves away from the front counter, clasping a cup of coffee with his thick fingers. He ordered plain black coffee, no cream, no sugar, no whipped cream, and hell no to the chocolate sprinkles. My father likes his coffee the same way.
My mystery man stops at the lid and stir stick island and a stout man wearing mismatched jacket and pants rushes to the counter, barking his order at the disheveled barista. The rest of us shuffle forward in line. The tall skinny brunette behind me pleads into her sparkly pink phone, begging her boyfriend to give her one more chance. She’ll be the girl he needs, she promises. She’ll lose those last five pounds.
I don’t know where she’ll lose those five pounds. She’s already as thin as a yard of fine silk ribbon. I look down at my more ample bosom, my breasts wrapped snugly in the blazer.
“No, please.” The brunette sobs. “Derek! Derek!” She glances at her phone’s small screen and her face crumples. My heart aches for her. She doesn’t know how to hide her sorrow, not like I do. I can help her with this.
I touch the girl’s bare arm, diverting her attention away from her phone. “Who did your pedicure?” I feign an interest in her perfect pink toes. Although her beige sandals are adorably strappy, my goal is to distract her from her grief. “I have to know,” I insist.
The brunette wipes away her tears with the back of her hand. “I-I-I.”
I glance around us fervently as though I’m afraid someone will overhear us. The behemoth is watching me, his dark eyes glinting with intelligence. Some people think big men are dumb. Some people also think blonde women are stupid and no one should wear pink at a funeral. I learned long ago to ignore some people.
“Look at what happened to me on the flight here.” I slip my right foot out of my lavender pumps and I wiggle my big toe. A huge chip of coral polish has flaked off, revealing raw nail. “I rushed for a flight, banged into a baggage cart and that was it. My pedicure was ruined.”
The brunette’s red-rimmed eyes widen. “That’s terrible.”
“It’s a disaster.” I ignore the behemoth’s shaking shoulders. He doesn’t understand. My mystery man has the strength to deal with loss directly. He doesn’t need to pretend, to use trivial distractions as a means to cope. He would never travel across an entire country seeking to escape his sadness.
“I’m in a strange city,” I explain. “I have so many cute sandals and I can’t wear them.” I shove my foot back into my shoe, hiding the offending toe.
As we exchange information and bad salon stories, the behemoth leaves. I watch his broad shoulders disappear into the L.A. sunshine and I feel as though I’ve lost a piece of my soul, a part of my future.
Henley, the head of cyber security at Blaine Technologies, is a man no one crosses. He watches employees constantly using his network of cameras and enforces his rules by any means possible. Rumors of his violent past, his scarred hands and huge size have resulted in him being feared by everyone… almost everyone.
