Releasing Rage – The Mantidae
In Releasing Rage, the cyborgs are ordered to fight the Mantidae, huge insect-like creatures that are in the midst of migrating to their breeding planets. Unfortunately, their migration leads them through Humanoid Alliance-controlled space. Some of the planets they normally swarm and feed from are now inhabited by humans. The Mantidae view humans as simply another food source.
Mantidae resemble human-sized praying mantis (mantidae is the family name for the species). They have razor-sharp raptorial forelegs. Mantidae prefer to eat their prey alive but if the prey struggles (as humans tend to do when faced with a giant insect intent on devouring them), they use these forelegs like scissors to cut their prey into two. Yes. (grimaces) It is a gruesome death.
Earth mantises also prefer to eat their prey alive and the larger a mantis grows, the larger the prey it hunts. Small mantises devour other insects. Large mantises can eat scorpions, birds, snakes, and rodents. They aren’t predators to be messed with!
Could creatures like the Mantidae exist?
Of course. On Earth, there are 200 million insects for every human. If there are humanoids spread throughout the universe, these humanoids being different sizes, colors, having different features, it is logical that there are insects spread throughout the universe and that some of these insects could be as large or larger than humans with corresponding appetites.
Are the Mantidae the ‘bad guys’?
Calling the Mantidae the enemy would be like calling a shark the enemy. They’re not deliberately trying to harm humans. Their goal is to reach their breeding planets. They need food to fuel their trip. Humans are living on the planets they use as ‘rest stops.’ So the Mantidae eat them.
I’m not pro-Mantidae (they’re giant scary bugs) but I understand why they’re killing humans.

Twenty-seven years ago, simply having a sex tape would have been a scandal. In 1988, Rob Lowe’s sex tape severely damaged his career. Sexual Experience Shaming
In One Night With My Billionaire Master, Arianna, the heroine, has a reputation for being a slut. People judge her harshly because of this reputation. They look down on her, view her as ‘less than.’
Ironically, this reputation is bullshit. She’s, in fact, a virgin. But being a virgin creates almost as many issues as being a slut. There’s the perception that every woman her age has had sex. Men expect Arianna to be experienced, might wonder what is wrong with her if she hasn’t slept with other men.
I wish I could say this was a purely fictional situation, that women (and yes, it is mostly women) aren’t judged on our sexuality but we are.
I know plenty of women my age (in their 40’s) who have never had sex. They watch the sexually active women on TV and feel shame (how many 40 year virgins do you see on TV?). They listen to their buddies talk about sex and they either pretend like they fit in or they remain silent.
I also know plenty of women my age whose numbers of sexual partners are in the three figures. They lie about this number or ‘don’t remember.’ They aren’t likely to talk about their one night stands with their happily married friends. They definitely don’t bring it up on first dates.
One of the (many) things I love about Logan Ross is he loves Arianna when he thinks she’s a slut and he doesn’t love her any less or any more when he finds out she was a virgin (though he IS upset that she didn’t communicate with him). Her sexual history doesn’t matter to him. He loves her for who she is.

Financiers, Venture Capitalists, And Other Sexy Money Men
Logan Ross, the hero of One Night With My Billionaire Master, is a financier. If a company needs money, he supplies it… for a price. He also buys shares in undervalued companies he wishes to eventually control.
A venture capitalist, in contrast, normally focuses on newer and growing companies. Both take risks on companies that banks and other institutions wouldn’t. But the money receiving companies or shareholders always have a choice whether or not to accept the financing. There are plenty of financiers and venture capitalists and other sources of financing to choose from (which makes the actions of certain characters in One Night With My Billionaire Master even more despicable).
I have a weakness for hunky money men. I’ve worked for and with several venture capitalists and financiers. Some were wonderful, definitely hero material. Some weren’t.
One venture capitalist changed my life forever. Being a business babe, I spent quite a bit of time on the business forums, sharing knowledge with other business folks. I’ve made quite a few buddies over the years. One of these buddies was JS, a young venture capitalist who made his seed money (his start out money) in technology.
I was one of the few women on the male-dominated forums. JS thought I had some great experience and knowledge. He also was a big supporter of seeing more women start and run businesses.
JS wanted me to blog on business. I was scared. One of my female buddies had run an up and coming business blog. A woman-hating male reader had tracked her down and almost killed her (hurting her in all of the ways a man can hurt a woman). I didn’t want that to happen to me.
So JS set up a blog and allowed me to write anonymously for him. I wrote a blog post every day for several years until he died (of cancer while he was in his early 30’s). Then I set up my own blog (using what he taught me about remaining anonymous) and have been blogging daily about business ever since then.
Whenever I write about a venture capitalist or financier, I think about JS and how generous and supportive he was. I think Logan Ross, the hero of One Night With My Billionaire Master, and JS would have been good friends.

One Night With My Billionaire Master and Real Life Business Rivalries
In One Night With My Billionaire Master, Arianna St. James, the heroine, works for St. James Communications, her family’s company. This is a television service (a combination of cable and broadcast) company.
In Canada, there are two very large family-controlled television service companies – Rogers Communications controlled by the Rogers family (valued at 7.4 billion dollars) and Shaw Communications controlled by the Shaw family (valued at 2 billion dollars). I know friends who work closely with the family members and executives at each company.
Eric Hixon & his wife, Melinda Rogers, Oscar de la Renta, Loretta Rogers, Suzanne & her husband, Edward Rogers
Loretta is the mother of Melinda and Edward.
Edward is the Chair of the family trust. Melinda is Co-Chair.
These two families have fiercely fought over turf and customers for generations. There’s respect for the other family but, in the past, there have also been some bitter feuds. One family would walk into an event. The other family would leave.
(If this reminds you of Dallas – Shaw’s Executive Chairman is aptly named JR Shaw)
None of these external feuds, however, rival the struggle for control within the companies. Children constantly maneuver for positions, wishing to gain approval of the reigning family members, seeking to be named the next in command. Any advantage they can show over their competition, which is often a sibling or an uncle, they do. Some of this is good-natured rivalry. Some of this is not.
Arianna’s half-siblings, in One Night With My Billionaire Master, are even more aggressive. They’re desperate and resort to some slimy tactics to eliminate her as possible competition. This is bad behavior taken to the extreme and oh-so-delicious to read about!

Why Cyborgs Don’t Age – Nanocybotics
I was watching the movie Big Hero 6 and I was amazed at how similar Hiro’s microbots and the nanocybotics that my cyborgs use are. This isn’t plagiarism but it isn’t coincidence either. Why? Because this technology is very close to being real (if it isn’t already real and I simply haven’t heard about it yet). I’ve seen demonstrations at places like the Consumer Electronics Show of technology that could be the forerunners of nanocybotics.
What Are Nanocybotics?
In non-scientific terms, they’re tiny robots that help cyborgs heal. Nanocybotics are the robotic version of stem cells and are coded to return every cell or mechanism to its ‘normal’ state (according to the cyborg’s DNA). They also help cyborgs, during their development stages, grow their mechanics in concert with their organic parts.
The human body already has the potential to heal itself. A cut on our finger heals, often with no assistance. Nanocybotics boost a cyborg’s ability to heal. They can survive greater injuries and recover in less time. This, combined with their almost indestructible metal frame, makes cyborgs very difficult to kill.
How Cyborgs Grow
But how do cyborgs heal or ‘grow’ their mechanics (their processors, metal frames, other parts)? I view the nanocybotics as becoming almost like tiny 3D printers. Using the inputs cyborgs are administered (though feeding tubes), the nanocybotics reconstruct their mechanics. While the cyborg is growing, the nanocybotics can also break the mechanics down and rebuild them in larger sizes.
Why Cyborgs Don’t Grow Old
All aging is, in the simplest sense, is gradual cumulative wear and tear on bodies, on our cells. Cyborgs don’t have this wear and tear. Their bodies are healed completely. This means they don’t age. They can possibly live forever.
Because nanocybotics are linked to a cyborg’s DNA, noting what the cyborg’s ‘normal’ is, they are unique to each unit. If a nanocybotic were transferred from its host unit to the new unit (through saliva or cum), the nanocybotic would repair itself until it aligned with the new cyborg’s DNA.
Why Cyborgs Can Heal Humans
When nanocybotics are transferred to humans, they align with a human’s DNA. They will heal wounds and fade bruises… temporarily. Not having the necessary inputs to function, these nanocybotics will eventually die.
Unless this transfer is done regularly. (grins)

Sinful Rewards 12 – Bee’s Meltdown
One of the questions I receive from readers is ‘Why does Bee completely melt down over the condom breaking?”
This statement is key for our heroine
“Having seen the tabloid talk shows and lived the reality, I know no man wants an oops baby.”
The oops is important. She feels, if she’d been planned, her father might have stayed, her mother wouldn’t have struggled financially and would have been accepted by the residents of their small town.
This is why Bee plans everything, why she planned her possible life with Nicolas, why she planned her career, why she plans even her outfits for the day.
After she meets Hawke, she continues to plan, except her plans include him. That his job can be random and he’s okay with that shows her that random events CAN be okay. The surprise element of her daily missions also trains her to deal with unplanned events (but notice how she likes the routine of receiving them every day).
All of this is preparing her for the big oops moment in Sinful Rewards 12. Yes, she melts down (this IS what she believes to be her worst nightmare coming true) but then she picks herself off the floor (literally) and deals directly with the situation. She wouldn’t have done that in Sinful Rewards 1. She would have ran, avoiding the situation.
