Stocking Up On Gardening Supplies

(This photo features LAST year’s asparagus garden. It is still too early in the season for asparagus and marigolds. – grins))

The US-prompted tariffs will make many items more expensive all over the world.

That includes gardening supplies.

If we can (and yes, I realize having the funds to do this is a privilege), we might wish to stock up.

We can’t buy seeds too far in advance. They DO have an expiry date.

Potting soil can be purchased a couple years in advance, however.

And some gardening supplies like chicken wire (to keep the critters out of some areas in the garden), bamboo stakes, shovels, pruners and rakes are good…forever. I stocked up on any of these items that I could afford and that hadn’t yet had their prices increased.

My thinking is…this is a low risk ‘investment.’ Prices, even if tariffs are removed tomorrow, aren’t likely to decrease below the price I paid. Prices will, at best, stay the same and will, more likely, increase.

And I WILL use these supplies. Or I know someone who could use them.
