Doc’s Orders, my July cyborg romance release, is a SciFi Romance nod to Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde, one of my favorite classic stories.
Written by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde tells the story of a man split into two distinct personalities – the nice, kind, healing doctor and the evil, emotional, monstrous killer.
Yes, I’ve always been fascinated by beings with dual natures. (grins)
Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, cyborgs are also torn between their two sides. They are half organic, half machine. Their organic side is emotion-driven. Their machine side is governed by logic.
Usually, these two sides are in balance. A cyborg’s organic half is offset by his machine half.
In Doc’s case, however, he has no moderation. He bounces between the two extremes. He’s either all organic or all machine.
Since he escaped the Humanoid Alliance’s cruel control, he has been the cool, emotionless medic, repairing his brethren with a cyborg precision.
His machine side has been in charge…until he meets his female.
