Mohini, the heroine of Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in November), has claimed Briella, the heroine of Provoking Odium, as a best buddy.
Briella will be mentioned in Grin And Bare Him but she won’t make an appearance in that story.
Why won’t she appear on page?
Because Grin And Bare Him occurs while Briella and Odium are away from Mercury Minor, while they are trekking to Briella’s birth planet.
Mohini will be thinking about Briella, however. They ARE best friends. (grins)

Tomato Update
We have SO many tomatoes!
Our freezer is stuffed with them. We’ve frozen 30 plus 1.3 L/45 fluid ounce milk bags filled with tomatoes (milk bags are the BEST freezer bags). That’s enough for the entire winter.
The squirrels and the slugs have taken their share and continue to feast.
We’re now happily giving tomatoes away to neighbors and nearby loved ones. It is such a great problem to have.
The bell peppers are almost eatable size. The beans continue to produce. The carrots remain extremely tiny but we still have a couple weeks until first frost.

Muse Food – Ship Figureheads
The cyborgs tend to be very practical beings. They value functionality over almost everything else.
Which is why their ships don’t have many decorative features. Plain vessels are easier to clean and repair.
But I can envision humans and humanoids flying more decorative ships.
Perhaps their vessels sport figureheads similar to the ones the Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted in the Dockyard Museum in Antigua.
According to the sign, “Despite being viewed as unlucky aboard ship, women were viewed as the best navigators, and the eyes of a female figurehead were thought to be able to find a way through the seas when lost.”

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – September 18th
Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in November) has been sent to my Awesome Formatter aka the Dear Wonderful Hubby. He is super busy with his day job right now but he has that formatting task in his queue.
Over Torque, the December FREE short story, has been sent to my Awesome Editor. She’s super busy also (it IS September, which is a busy time for many people) but it is in her equally long queue.
I’m now back to working on Raw Desires, the third core story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing likely in February). The first draft is zipping along.

Using My Fancy Notebooks
Like many writers and readers, I have a HUGE collection of beautiful notebooks. I collect them. I store them. I don’t usually use them.
Until this year.
This year, I decided to start using these gorgeous notebooks. I picked out one and allocated it to my daily to-do lists. It felt very naughty to write in it. It was a bit stressful at first. The notebook was too pretty to use.
But writing in the fancy notebook felt…luxurious, decadent. My to-do lists seemed more special. I enjoyed writing the tasks down…and crossing them off.
Today, I’m writing in the last page of that notebook. My treat for completing my to-do list is picking out the next notebook to use.
And I will ALWAYS have a next notebook to use because I collect them faster than I could ever use them. (grins)

Listening To The Science
One of the (many) things I love about cyborgs is…
They listen to the science.
Their machine side is logic-based. That part of them seeks to find explanations for everything. They trust in science, in experiments, in cause and effect.
Cyborgs might not always choose the most logical route, especially when decision involves their genetic matches, but they ALWAYS consider the science.
In today’s world here on Earth, that appeals to me. Greatly. (grins)

Amazon really doesn’t like FREE books. I can list stories there at 99 cents and then HOPE Amazon will price match to free but that is becoming harder and harder to do. Muse Food – Making The Turn
I can envision a spaceship chase along this river’s path. When they make this turn, the tips of their vessels skim against the rock, leaving grooves, setting off sparks.
Maybe the enemy doesn’t slow and they crash into the wall of stone. The debris floats down the river to be picked up by metal salvagers.
The locals watch and shake their heads. “Humans,” they mutter. “Always in a rush.”

I’m putting the finishing touches on Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in November). Then I will send it to my awesome formatter (the Dear Wonderful Hubby).
I also switched from writing Raw Desires, the third story in the series, to writing Over Torque, this year’s thank you short story (it will be available on BookFunnel in December). I plan to send that to my Awesome Editor by the end of the month. Then I will switch back to writing Raw Desires.
