Throwback Thursday – Testing Truth

By Cynthia Sax on February 22, 2024

On every team I’ve ever worked with, there has always been one sh*t disturber i.e. embracer of chaos. (On writing teams, there are usually several. – grins) They stir things up, cause others to think more creatively, thrive on disruption. And they are a valued part of the team. Because all that is necessary.

Truth is that being on his team.

And that is appealing to Princess Nancy because she needs someone who can change direction easily with changing circumstances. She is seeking to rescue her brother and she doesn’t know what she’ll find on the prison ship holding him.

Testing Truth

A fun-loving cyborg gets serious about love.

***

Truth lives each moment as though it were his last. The cyborg warrior rushes into danger, teases beings he shouldn’t provoke, accepts every call of adventure he encounters.

When a prissy little human princess floats into the Rebel structure Truth is occupying, seeking a mercenary to assist her and her unusual entourage, he volunteers to be her warrior. She claims their assignment is dangerous, warns him he might not survive the task.

That is exactly the type of fun he has been seeking.

Princess Nanette of the planet Royaume must rescue her estranged brother from an enemy prison ship. That is her duty, and she has been trained to always place the needs of her planet and her subjects before her own. Nancy doesn’t have the freedom to indulge her passions for a certain dark-haired, gray-skinned cyborg. Not permanently and not publicly.

But she is unable to resist the warrior. Truth, with his laughing eyes, smiling lips, and rough hands, tempts her as no one else ever has. He could be her one fleeting act of rebellion before she’s matched with the powerful ruler her planet requires.

If they survive their current mission.

Their love is doomed. Their lifespans are at risk. This cyborg and his princess will need the help of every ally they have if they wish to see another sunrise.

Throwback Thursday – Testing Truth

By Cynthia Sax on July 27, 2023

Testing Truth is one of my lighter-in-tone cyborg romances.

Truth is a chaos-creating cyborg. He doesn’t take much seriously. Nancy, his human female, is a princess seeking to save her brother. Her entourage is…well…they are as chaotic as Truth is. (grins)

Testing Truth has some serious moments but it is fun. And don’t we all need more fun in our lives?

Throwback Thursday – Testing Truth

By Cynthia Sax on December 22, 2022

I think of Testing Truth as a fairytale in space. (grins) There’s an unlikely human princess, Nancy, and an even more unlikely cyborg prince, Truth, and they undertake an extremely dangerous mission together.

This story is also very much about found family.

Truth has, of course, his brethren. And they ARE his brothers in every sense other than biological.

Princess Nancy has her entourage. They give her the love her Royal biological family can’t provide.

These two unique beings then find each other. (smiles)

I hope you know you are part of my found family. (big hugs) You aren’t alone this holiday season. I am merely an email away.

Whenever I think of Truth, I smile. He is such a chaos-loving cyborg. He rushes into situations with both guns blazing and a big ol’ grin on his handsome face.

Princess Nancy, his female, is perfect for him. Being a royal, she is constantly surrounded by drama and over-the-top ceremony. Her entourage adds to this.

There’s never a dull moment around them. (grins)

Throwback Thursday – Testing Truth

By Cynthia Sax on December 16, 2021

I think of Testing Truth as my fairytale cyborg romance.

Princess Nancy, the heroine, is royalty. Truth, the cyborg hero, is…well…he causes chaos wherever he goes. There’s a prince (Princess Nancy’s brother) locked in a space tower…I mean a space prison. The royal entourage, Princess Nancy’s family of the heart, is the support system any heroine would love to have.

There are laughs and adventure and I think you’ll have a good time reading this story.

Throwback Thursday – Testing Truth

By Cynthia Sax on May 20, 2021

Testing Truth was such a fun story to write.

Truth, the hero, has been causing chaos for others since the beginning of the series. This cyborg warrior is rarely serious. He loves dangerous missions.

Princess Nancy is accustomed to chaos and is well able to keep pace with him. Her entourage, her makeshift family, easily supplies the drama and excitement Truth constantly seeks.

Their assignment is to save one of Princess Nancy’s brothers. The odds of surviving that mission are low…which doesn’t dissuade Truth at all from joining their team. He likes those types of odds. (grins)

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – October 4th

By Cynthia Sax on October 4, 2020

This week flew past me faster than a K Model cyborg running at top speed. I am waist deep in the first draft of Containing Malice (releasing in February). 8 chapters have been written and I LOVE it thus far.

It very much has a Releasing Rage feel to it. Malice is a C Model. He’s extremely angry. One of the beings he is angry at is his female, whom he views as his cruel captor. This is very much an enemies-to-lovers romance.

Warlord’s Return, the sixth and final story in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords series (releasing in November), is an enemies-to-lovers romance also. Ariq is looking for a fight.  Xareni is happy to give it to him.

The countdown to this release is on. I’ll be sharing the first scene from the first chapter tomorrow (Kralj, the hero of Dark Thoughts, makes an ‘appearance’ in the first chapter but not in this first scene). I think you’ll really enjoy this story.

The schedule for this upcoming week consists of writing the next 5 chapters in Containing Malice, teasing you with snippets from stories, and trying to get back on Facebook. That last task is an upgoing quest (grins) that I am determined to succeed at…eventually.

Stay safe, my friends. Wear masks (I’m sporting pumpkin- and Halloween-themed ones). Social distance. Read great books and escape this world for a while. Take care of yourselves! You’re part of my reading family and I want you to remain as well as you can be!

Testing Truth And Breaking The Series Into Subseries

By Cynthia Sax on October 3, 2020

A reading buddy (big hugs) asked me, “Why did you break the cyborg series into smaller series? Why didn’t you keep it as one long series?”

Cyborg Space Exploration was broken into a subseries because I felt it had a different feel to it. The Cyborg Sizzle subseries was all about the cyborgs escaping the Humanoid Alliance and venturing to their Homeland. Cyborg Space Exploration is about…well…space exploration. (laughs) I know. I’m not very creative when it comes to titles or series names.

Cyborg Space Exploration is more Star Trek than Star Wars. And we all know fans of Star Trek aren’t necessarily fans of Star Wars. (Though I am fans of both worlds. I LOVE them for very different reasons.)

I also wanted reading buddies to be able to start and stop the longer series and creating subseries are my suggestions of when they could best do that.

Sure, reading buddies of solely the Cyborg Space Exploration subseries won’t know the full impact of how the cyborgs fought to escape the Humanoid Alliance (in the Cyborg Sizzle subseries) and they won’t know how the Cyborg Council deals with the Rebel Cyborgs (in the upcoming Rebel Cyborgs subseries) but they will know the core stories of the crew of the Reckless.

That gives those reading buddies a bit of closure.

The upcoming Cyborg Rebels subseries won’t (hopefully) be the final subseries. I have three more subseries planned thus far, including the Next Generation Cyborgs subseries. (grins) I know many reading buddies are waiting for those stories.

Testing Truth And Baddies

By Cynthia Sax on October 2, 2020

In fairy tales (which I LOVE), the good beings are often clearly good and the bad beings are often clearly bad. The Princess never harms good beings and the Wicked Witch never helps good beings. Their roles are clear. We usually know which characters to cheer for.

The stories in the cyborg series, including Testing Truth, aren’t fairy tales. (grins) Nancy, the heroine of Testing Truth, might be a Princess but she harms some good beings (Were the Rebels in the beverage outlet good? They are fighting for the ‘good’ side.). Truth, our cyborg hero, loves to kill beings and he’s not too fussy about who he kills.

The Humanoid Alliance are the big baddies in the series yet many of the heroines were once aligned (sometimes unwillingly, sometimes out of lack of knowledge) with the Humanoid Alliance. Joan, the heroine of Releasing Rage, worked for them as an engineer.

There are random minor characters who are aligned with the Humanoid Alliance and do the right thing also—looking the other way when beings escape, refusing to fight for them, walking away from situations they don’t fully support.

No one is all good. No one is all bad.

(grins) Beings are complicated.

Testing Truth And Found Families

By Cynthia Sax on September 30, 2020

Princess Nancy, the heroine of Testing Truth, is surrounded by family.

She has her biological family. Her parents are the Queen and the King and her two brothers are the Crown Prince and the Prince. Her arrangement with her biological family is very business-like and extremely cold. She is not seen as a daughter or a sister but as the Spare to the Heir. There are no hugs or kisses, no ‘I love you’s, very few smiles and little warmth.

There’s a reason for that. The Queen feels she must always put her Kingdom first. That might mean sacrificing one of her children. That’s easier to do if she isn’t emotionally attached to them.

Thankfully, Princess Nancy also has a found family. The relationship between her Royal Dresser, her Private Secretary and her Private Guard might seem like duty-driven roles. But Marthe, Valentin, and Claude view her as their own daughter. They would kill for her, die for her. They and their love are always nearby.

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I think of my reading and writing buddies as part of our found family also. (group hugs) Like Princess Nancy with her entourage, I suspect I’m not supposed to care as much as I do about you…yet I do. Some of you have been with me for years and I love that. I love you.
