In both The Cyborg’s Secret Baby and Dark Arsenal, beings take on missions they believe will end in their deaths. They are willing to sacrifice their own lifespans to save others.
Here on Earth, yes, there are people who sacrifice their own lifespans to save others. But there are also people who make smaller yet still important sacrifices.
A cash-strapped single mother might serve her always ravenous teenage son most of tonight’s dinner, knowing she, herself, will feel hunger.
A teacher might give up her precious personal time to tutor a needy student.
A man late for a big important meeting might stop to hold the door open for an older man.
A shelf restocker might knowing risk her job by looking the other way as a pregnant woman shoplifts a bottle of prenatal vitamins.
In my eyes, these beings are also heroes.

Enjoying The Now
I’m a planner. I like to have goals and to-do lists and A PLAN.
(Which is ironic because, when writing, I’m definitely a pantser, someone who writes without a plan.)
The world is changing very, very quickly at the moment.
I don’t know what will happen next, for example, with romance writing. Will my stories be listed at booksellers tomorrow? I don’t know.
So I’m changing it up a bit. I’m trying my best to live in the moment.
I’m focusing on enjoying the now.
When I shovel snow now, for example, I direct my full attention on the little patch in front of me. I savor the fluffiness of that snow. I admire how perfectly white it is. I gaze at the sparkle of the sun’s rays reflecting off its surface. I embrace the cold and consider myself lucky that we have the different seasons. I’m grateful for the snowpack gardeners and farmers in my area greatly need.
This attitude is increasing my happiness level and it is decimating my stress levels.
Consider pushing away the future for a moment. And disregard the past.
Enjoy the present with everything you have.

Throwback Thursday – Crash And Burn
In my stories, the main couple (or more) ALWAYS has a romantic Happily Ever After. And this is EVER AFTER, which means past couples (or more) will ALWAYS maintain their romantic happiness.
They will never die or fall out of love.
Everyone else in the stories, however, is at risk. And in the cyborg world, they are REALLY at risk because the universe is engulfed in war.
Beings die during war. That’s a cruel reality.
And not all of those beings are enemies.

There’s no new writing news to share this week. The Moonbeam sets are still on hold. I’m waiting to see what will happen in the US. And I haven’t heard back on any of my other projects.
I continue to write, of course, because I’m a writer and that’s what we do.

And I can lick other people’s noses. (laughs) That’s doable. But only do that if you KNOW they don’t mind having their noses licked! Humans can be strange about that for some bizarre reason.

Here For The Bloodletting
Readers, like you and I, usually have larger than average vocabularies. We know words other people don’t use, might not have used ever or in decades.
And that can give us an opportunity to surprise and delight others.

Recently, in preparation for my annual physical, my Awesome Doctor sent me to a lab for a blood test.
I bounced up to the front desk and cheerily declared, “I’m here for the bloodletting.”
Everyone around me laughed.
(smiles)
When my turn came, the nurse was informed by the admin staff that I was there for the bloodletting.
She laughed also.
And as I was leaving, folks asked me how the bloodletting went. They all had smiles on their faces.
