Muse Food – Unexpected Color
I love this vividly pink plant hidden underneath all the greenery. (smiles) This plant draws our attention. It draws the attention of pollinators and other beneficials.
It is a STORY.
I could write an entire story around this plant. Because it is different, special, has a unique purpose.
THAT is what draws readers and writers to certain heroes and heroines also. Write about the beings who are unique, who are different, who have a special purpose in their world.

Claiming Cure
A proud cyborg medic meets his human match.
***
Cyra has tasks to complete before she dies.
There are patients to heal, a dangerous mission to undertake, and a world to save. She doesn’t have time to entertain uninvited guests.
Especially one coldhearted cyborg medic who thinks he’s better than her.
The male might be breathtakingly handsome. His sternly set lips might be extremely kissable. And his touch might draw out a passion she didn’t think she was capable of feeling.
But he’s also a distraction, one that might doom millions of innocent beings to a painful, horrible death.
Cure isn’t emotionless. He feels…greatly. Listening to that malfunction has caused other beings pain and suffering in the past.
He refuses to allow his desires to cloud his judgment now.
His resolve is tested when he’s forced to associate with the most provoking, alluring medic in the universe.
Cyra is his genetic match, the one being in the universe he is fated to protect, touch, claim. She’s clever and beautiful, and the need to hold her almost downs his systems.
But now is not the time to indulge his great wanting.
Cure has an assignment to complete.
If he fails to accomplish his goals, everyone he cares for, including his human female, will die.
***
Claiming Cure is a standalone Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.
It features two skilled medics determined to ignore the toe-curling attraction between them, a perilous impossible mission, and foes seeking to ensure they never heal another being ever again.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – December 1
Claiming Cure will be the last story I publish…at least for a while. And I doubt I’ll send another newsletter for a while also.
But I will still be posting on this blog. I’ll still be responding to emails and messages. I’m still on Twitter and Instagram. I’m still thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way. (smiles)
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Do something small (or something big if you have the energy for that) that makes you happy. That could be telling a terrible joke. Or wearing fluorescent orange socks. Or rereading a favorite story. Or something else. Do it for YOU. You deserve that joy. Claim it!

Claiming Cure And Angry Little Boys
Uuppie, an 8 solar cycle old Cancri boy in Claiming Cure, is very, very angry. That is an expected reaction. His beloved dad was killed indirectly by the Invaders. His mom is very sick. HE is very sick.
When Cure arrives on the planet, Uuppie recognizes the medic as being a fighter (the Cancri word for warrior). He decides he wants to be a fighter also and he verbally pummels Cure with a gazillion questions, mostly about how to kill beings.
Cure is patient with Uuppie. He also doesn’t judge him. He understands anger. He understands pain. He understands grief.
But I’m hoping (fingers crossed) that Cure can steer the boy into less…violent outlets for those emotions. Eventually.

Gardening – Making Compost And…Waiting
The outdoor gardens have been put to bed for the winter.
It is not yet time to start seeds inside the house, in the basement grow station.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are making compost (outside with leaves, coffee grounds and kitchen scraps) and we’re chillaxing. (grins) That word dates me, doesn’t it?
I’m also dreaming and planning next year’s garden.

Throwback Thursday – Under Strain
Under Strain features an extremely broken cyborg warrior, a human female who courageously wants to save him from their mutual enemies, and DINOSAURS.
(grins)
Yes, Under Strain is set on a dinosaur planet. And you KNOW the cyborgs want to ride these dinosaurs.
This story is SO much fun.
Under Strain
A damaged cyborg warrior is hunted by a peace-loving human female.
***
Strain is severely malfunctioning. The D Model cyborg was the sole survivor after a horrific decision was made by his cruel manufacturers. He hates all humans, and when he attacks one who is under his cyborg leader’s protection, he is reprimanded, stripped of his weapons, and told to watch and not actively participate in the next mission.
That mission takes place on a small remote planet. Its lush terrain should only be inhabited by the cyborgs they were sent to rescue, but Strain senses another presence on the surface. She is watching him, tracking him, hunting him.
A fully operational cyborg would end her lifespan.
Strain wants to claim her. Forever.
Kamyelle is the only one left of her kind. Warriors have killed the other nonviolent human inhabitants of her planet. She survived…barely…by hiding in the trees, observing her enemies, and covering herself with lifeform scan-concealing mud.
When a handsome, gray-skinned, brilliant-blue-eyed male arrives, surrounded by weapon-carrying warriors, she has to save him. Warriors harm and they kill. That is what they do.
She won’t allow them to hurt Strain.
***
Under Strain is a STANDALONE Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.
It features a broken warrior, a human female who thinks he’s perfect, and velociraptor-like dinosaurs who view them both as light, tasty snacks.

The Future Of TasteOfCyn
Claiming Cure will be my last published story for the foreseeable future. (When I say ‘foreseeable future’, I feel like one of the Fates. – grins)
But I will likely continue to post here as long as my stories are available at booksellers. I don’t know how long that will be. Will my stories be delisted tomorrow or January 20th or, in the happiest case, never? I don’t know.
With everything else going on in the world, the uncertainty and the changes, please always know that I’m here and I’m thinking of you, my friends.

Claiming Cure And Different Generations
One of the many things I love about Claiming Cure’s epilogue is how there are Cancris of numerous generations participating in the celebration.
There are kids, ‘teens’, newly mated couples, middle aged females and elderly females.
Cyborgs have their version of generations also. The B and C Models are the oldest. The offspring of cyborgs and their genetic matches are the youngest.
Although they don’t physically age, thanks to their nanocybotics, cyborgs DO have the lifespan experiences that come with age. And I believe that makes their society so much richer.

Muse Food – When Evolution Stops
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I took a boat tour in Costa Rica and we spotted this magnificent crocodile.
Crocodiles have been around for 200 million years and interestingly, they are bigger now than they were then. But they are, otherwise, VERY similar.
And they look…ancient. Other creatures have continued to evolve. Crocodiles haven’t (much).
In the worlds in our stories, there will also be different rates of evolution. Some creatures will continue to evolve. Some creatures won’t.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – November 24
I can FEEL the warmth in this photo. And that makes me happy.
The big news this week was… Claiming Cure, the third core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series, released!
Woot!
I hope you enjoyed reading Claiming Cure as much as I enjoyed writing it. I love Cure. I love Cyra. I love the found family surrounding them.
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Stay up late one night this week, if you’re able, and read under the covers, using a flashlight/torch or, if you’re fancy, a headlamp. (grins)
Did you do that as a child? I did. Not with a flashlight. We didn’t have flashlight for kids type of money. I went with the eye strain, which I don’t recommend. (laughs) It was still fun. And it is fun now. I feel naughty like someone is going to come along and tell me to go to sleep. Being naughty, but not truly naughty, is an awesome feeling. I want that for you. (more hugs)

Gardening – Bring Mini Bell Peppers Inside Update
In past, I grew bell peppers (full-sized or mini) from seed, starting them every January in the basement grow station.
This year, I tried something different. I brought the very successful mini bell pepper plants inside the house to overwinter!
To do this, I pruned the plants heavily, stripping off all the leaves, and I replaced the dirt with fresh ‘inside’ soil. I was told there would be some losses.
And there WERE losses. I’ve lost about a quarter of the plants. They are now dry twigs.
But the rest of the plants survived and are regrowing leaves. And we have had NO pest problems.
(smiles)
I consider that to be a win!
