Gardening -Radishes Gone Wild
We allowed our radish section in the backyard to go wild this year.
The radish plants reproduced and spread. They flowered. Bees LOVE radish flowers. And they produced seeds. We harvested some of the seeds to use next year.
These radishes were, what we jokingly referred to as, our emergency rations. Both the leaves and the roots of radishes are edible. They were there when we ran out of other vegetables.
Toward the end of the season, the Dear Wonderful Hubby pulled up a couple of radish plants. They had huge roots and surprisingly, they were great tasting. They weren’t woody at all!
We’ll definitely do this again next year!

Muse Food – Sunsets And Endings
I LOVE sunsets. The sky is painted orange, red, yellow and other colors. It is vibrant and alive and ever changing. And I like the creep of the darkness, how it spreads and takes over.
A loved one isn’t as enthusiastic about sunsets. She finds them sad because, for her, they signal the end, the end of the day, the end of the light.
I see them as the beginning, the beginning of the night (which I love), the beginning of visible stars, the beginning of being able to see a portion of the universe right above our heads.
I thought of that when I wrote the ending to Claiming Cure.
For some reading buddies, it will be the end of the cyborgs’ adventures.
But for me, their adventures continue. They’re having those adventures outside of our direct view but they ARE happening.
For them and for me, it is the beginning of whatever is next.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – December 8
Claiming Cure was my final story for the foreseeable future. I’m now spending time completing the gazillion administrative tasks writers have yet often ignore. I’m no exception to that. (sheepish grin)
I’m also reading. 100.0000 percent (as the cyborgs would say) for pleasure. It is GLORIOUS. There’s no analyzing, no mental tearing apart of sentence structure, etc. It is pure fun. And love. And relaxation.
And I’m, of course, spending more awesome time with the Dear Wonderful Hubby. We’re trying new recipes and dancing around the room to EDM and doing…pretty much nothing. (grins)
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Reread a beloved romance novel. Spend time with those awesome characters. Feel that love and hope and optimism. I want all that for you. (more hugs)

Claiming Cure And Completing The Mission
As I outlined yesterday, the Humanoid Alliance Commander’s chamber in Claiming Cure was manufactured from materials that are almost impossible to destroy.
So how was Cure and Cyra able to blow up so many beings?
Those beings were located outside of the chamber.
There’s an easy answer to that – the chamber’s doors were wide open. (grins)

Claiming Cure And The Commander’s Chamber
A reading buddy asked…
If Erinomean Green Fire can dissolve cyborgs and cyborgs are manufactured from some of the most durable materials in the universe, how did the Commander’s chamber survive?
The Commander’s chamber was manufactured from a material the Humanoid Alliance ‘discovered’ while hunting down rare artifacts. This extremely durable material has some drawbacks. There isn’t much of it in the universe. It radiates damaging energy and has to be thickly shielded. It is quite rigid and isn’t great for anything or anyone requiring movement.
It isn’t suitable for the manufacturing of a huge army but it CAN safeguard one small chamber.

Gardening Lessons In 2024
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are happily planning our 2025 gardens during this break in growing seasons (i.e. the wintery weather).
One of the steps in that plan is to review what we’ve learned from gardening this past year.
We learned A LOT about growing eggplants. We learned wild rabbits love eating eggplant plants and we should surround those plants with chicken wire fencing. We learned that eggplant plants grow slowly and we should start the seeds in January. We learned that once they start to produce, they produce heavily and for a long time. They can survive some light frosts!
We learned that growing root vegetables like carrots and beets and, yes, potatoes, directly in the ground isn’t advisable for us. We have so many grubs and other critters! (Happily as that means our soil is full of life. – smiles) We’ll be growing root vegetables in containers going forward.
We also learned that we can duplicate rose plants by setting pruned branches on the ground and lightly covering them with soil. The success rate for this is low but there IS success and we only need a couple plants a year from using this method to keep our rose bed looking great.

Why I Ended The Dauntless Cyborgs Series Early
I had originally planned to release 5 core stories in the Dauntless Cyborgs series.
I revised that, after the US election, to 3 core stories, with Claiming Cure being the final story in the series and, perhaps, in the Cyborg World.
Why?
Because it is highly likely my stories will be banned under the new Regime’s 922 page Project 2025.
My stories are steamy. That, alone, will make them illegal to share. They are also stories written by women primarily for women. And they deal with Rebels fighting and defeating a Fascist Regime.
There is a very slim chance the banning of stories like mine might not happen.
Stars. I HOPE it won’t happen.
But if it does happen, I wanted to ensure you and my cover artist and my awesome editor weren’t harmed in any way by reading and/or helping to work on my stories. (big hugs) You are part of my family and I WILL protect my family.
I also wanted to ensure you received a solid happy ending for Claiming Cure, for the series, and for the world.
You deserve that. You are some of the best readers in Romanceland and you warrant that respect and that consideration, if that is at all possible. (big hugs)
Plus I wanted to control my own author ending.
I think of Drift’s words, words crafted long before I thought I’d be ending the world, in Drift Would. – “To choose how one dies is a powerful act.”
And I believe that is true of ALL endings.
To choose how things end is a powerful act.
I chose and yes, I do feel power and comfort in that act. It was the right decision for me and, I believe, for you.

I love this vividly pink plant hidden underneath all the greenery. (smiles) This plant draws our attention. It draws the attention of pollinators and other beneficials.
It is a STORY.
I could write an entire story around this plant. Because it is different, special, has a unique purpose.
THAT is what draws readers and writers to certain heroes and heroines also. Write about the beings who are unique, who are different, who have a special purpose in their world.

But I will still be posting on this blog. I’ll still be responding to emails and messages. I’m still on Twitter and Instagram. I’m still thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way. (smiles)
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Do something small (or something big if you have the energy for that) that makes you happy. That could be telling a terrible joke. Or wearing fluorescent orange socks. Or rereading a favorite story. Or something else. Do it for YOU. You deserve that joy. Claim it!

Claiming Cure And Angry Little Boys
Uuppie, an 8 solar cycle old Cancri boy in Claiming Cure, is very, very angry. That is an expected reaction. His beloved dad was killed indirectly by the Invaders. His mom is very sick. HE is very sick.
When Cure arrives on the planet, Uuppie recognizes the medic as being a fighter (the Cancri word for warrior). He decides he wants to be a fighter also and he verbally pummels Cure with a gazillion questions, mostly about how to kill beings.
Cure is patient with Uuppie. He also doesn’t judge him. He understands anger. He understands pain. He understands grief.
But I’m hoping (fingers crossed) that Cure can steer the boy into less…violent outlets for those emotions. Eventually.

***
Cyra has tasks to complete before she dies.
There are patients to heal, a dangerous mission to undertake, and a world to save. She doesn’t have time to entertain uninvited guests.
Especially one coldhearted cyborg medic who thinks he’s better than her.
The male might be breathtakingly handsome. His sternly set lips might be extremely kissable. And his touch might draw out a passion she didn’t think she was capable of feeling.
But he’s also a distraction, one that might doom millions of innocent beings to a painful, horrible death.
Cure isn’t emotionless. He feels…greatly. Listening to that malfunction has caused other beings pain and suffering in the past.
He refuses to allow his desires to cloud his judgment now.
His resolve is tested when he’s forced to associate with the most provoking, alluring medic in the universe.
Cyra is his genetic match, the one being in the universe he is fated to protect, touch, claim. She’s clever and beautiful, and the need to hold her almost downs his systems.
But now is not the time to indulge his great wanting.
Cure has an assignment to complete.
If he fails to accomplish his goals, everyone he cares for, including his human female, will die.
