I continue to write the first draft of Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the series, and it is action-packed thus far. Grin and his humanoid heroine are so much fun together. And they have sizzling chemistry.

The Beings You Don’t Yet Know
The first chapter of Provoking Odium, the first story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in June), features the adventures of Briella, the story’s human heroine.
Often I’ll start with the cyborg’s adventures. But, if you read Seizing Power, you know Odium quite well and you know how his story will start. You don’t yet know Briella, the freighter captain. You don’t know why she’s doing what she’s doing in Seizing Power.
And wowsers, she’d doing quite a bit, especially in that first chapter. It is action-packed! I can’t wait to share this story with you!

Provoking Odium And Mercury Minor
The Cyborg Unity series is exactly what it sounds like it is – a series that meshes the two cyborg factions.
Provoking Odium, the first story in the series (releasing in June), is set on Mercury Minor, the Rebel Cyborgs’ Home Planet, and two other new-to-us planets.
The next story, Grin And Bare Him (likely releasing in October), will be set on the Cyborg Homeland, Mercury Minor and other new-to-us planets.
The stories after that? I’m not certain where they’ll be set.

Cruise Ships And Spaceships
The spaceships in my cyborg and alien romances are based on water-navigating ships and navies here on Earth. That is a standard in SciFi Romance. Star Trek, for example, heavily borrows from the navy.
This ‘borrowing’ is one of the many reasons I like to take cruises. They serve as inspiration and references for my stories. I go on ship tours. I talk to the crew. Usually, some of the officers have served in their country’s navy. I learn terminology, hear a gazillion stories and uncover strategies.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I take precautions, of course. The pandemic is still happening. But cruises are great food for my muse.

Actions Vs Words
Briella, aka Beast, the heroine of Provoking Odium, the first story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in June), talks tough. If we listen solely to her words, she seems like an unfeeling, grumpy, materialistic being, someone who doesn’t grant anyone favors or leniency, a being who cares only about herself.
In reality, she’s a complete softie. She would trade her lifespan to save a stranger’s in a heartbeat. She would die before intentionally hurting someone’s feelings. Favors are granted without a word. She’s a friend any being would love to have.
I love her generous, giving heart. Her actions truly speak louder than her words.

Dresses For Princess Nancy
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I walked into Camille La Vie in New York and we spotted some dresses we thought Princess Nancy (from Testing Truth) would love.
They are, of course, pink. (grins)
I LOVE how sparkly this dress is. Princess Nancy would look like starlight while wearing it.
The full skirts on this dress could conceal weapons…which would suit the battle-ready Princess.
Of course, she’d need a tiara for each of these ensembles. (grins)
I love the butterfly tiara in this stock photo! It is delicate and whimsical.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – May 8th
I continue to work on Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in October at the latest).
I’ll be writing the first draft for at least another month and then have two more drafts to complete before submitting the story to my Awesome Editor so you’ll be hearing the same update for a while. (grins)
The tomato seedlings are doing VERY well, so well I had to thin them. (grimaces) That was painful for everyone involved. Steve, the male-eating plant rule of Balazoid Minor (he appeared in North Bound), wouldn’t be happy with me. But it had to be done and it strengthened the remaining seedlings.
I hope you have a fantastic, magical week, my friends. (big hugs) Revel in nature, whether that nature is outside or is sitting on your windowsill. Breath deeply. Lower your shoulders. Uncurl your fingers. You’re awesome and you deserve time to relax, to restore your emotional wells.

My Awesome Mom And Mom-In-Law
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day in North America.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are fortunate to have both our Moms still with us. (knock on wood)
I sent my Mom yellow roses (her favorites) and chocolate from a florist local to her. She knows the owner, went to school with him, and he always delivers the flowers himself. They have a good chat, which makes my Mom as happy as the roses and chocolate.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby will be bringing his Mom chocolate and cash. The cash will be rapidly redistributed to people and causes Awesome Mom-in-law feels need it more than she does. She has a generous soul…just like her son. (smiles)
I’m lucky to have two such wonderful women in my life and I hope you have wonderful women (including everyone who identifies as a woman) in your life also, whether they are biologically your Mom or Moms of the Heart, mentors you can learn from and love. (big hugs)

Cyborgs And The Arts
When the cyborgs were under Humanoid Alliance control, their lifespans consisted of waging war, restoring their energy levels and very little else. They were manufactured for battle and weren’t allowed to explore anything other than that.
Now that they are free, they have almost unlimited options. And one of those options is to venture into the arts – singing, dancing, painting, sculpting, other creative pursuits.
In Provoking Odium, they will explore a couple of the arts…with often comical results. (grins)

Happy Star Wars Day
May The Fourth Be With You!

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I went to a special screening of Asteroid Hunters, narrated by Daisy Ridley, as a pre-Star Wars Day celebration.
This documentary meshed two of my favorite movie genres – disaster movies and scifi movies. And it featured several female scientists. It was awesome!
Daisy Ridley didn’t appear on screen but her voice is very distinctive. And her narration had a Star Wars feel to it..
On a tangent, since this IS Star Wars day, I thought I’d share this photo of the blaster Carrie Fisher, our dearly departed Space Mom, used in the original Star Wars movie. The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted this in a Planet Hollywood years ago.
