Spoiler Alert – This post will discuss the movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and might have some (mild) spoilers. You might wish to skip this post if you haven’t yet watched this movie.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I have been catching up on movies we’ve missed and one of the movies I most wanted to watch was Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
I had heard great things about this fantasy movie. Plus Chris Pine, according to rumor, writes romance (under a secret pen name).
Dungeons & Dragons did NOT disappoint. It was fun and light and has a happy ending (and dragons) And it made me cry. I was THAT emotionally involved.
It is also a great movie for writers who want to craft found family stories to study. (This isn’t much of a spoiler as the ‘Honor Among Thieves’ bit in the movie’s title tells us it is a found family story.)
The main characters are outcasts. Some of them are looking to reunite with biological family so there’s a solid exploration of biological vs found family. The group bonds more and more until they become a solid found family unit. At the end, most of them are together and the one member who isn’t physically with them is talked about so they are emotionally present. And we know they will meet up with this absent being in the future.
It meets all the major expectations for a found family story and it does this in a creative, fun way.

Strive For Forever
This cyborg seeks to vanquish an ancient entity and save his curvy human female.

Throwback Thursday – Warlord’s Return
Warlord’s Return officially resides in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords series but it could have easily also been placed in the Refuge (Dark Thoughts) series.
Because all of the action is set in or near the Refuge. Kralj, Dita and their warriors also make appearances in the story.

House Of The Dragon And Time Jumps
Spoiler Alert – This post will talk about House Of The Dragon and will contain spoilers. If you haven’t watched this show up to and including Episode 6, you might want to skip this.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are watching House Of The Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel.
It takes me about 3 episodes to get into a show. By episode 6 of House Of The Dragon, I still wasn’t captured but the Dear Wonderful Hubby was.
We decided to finish the season.
Then…episode 6 happened.
Episode 6 involves a 10 year time jump. Time jumps are jarring for both viewers and readers. We, writers, risk losing readers whenever we do time jumps.
But this time jump was even more jarring because they had recast many of the lead actors.
They not only recast them but they changed their personalities. Many of the characters became harsher. Their innocence and their hope were obliterated.
As the Dear Wonderful Hubby pointed out, it was like watching a brand new show.
We’re debating whether or not to watch this brand new show. Do we care enough to figure out who everyone is, what they want, what their plans and hopes and dreams are?
We haven’t yet made this decision.

Raw Desires

Taytu isn’t jumping anywhere. She has one mission—kill every cyborg in existence.
The huge, handsome male traveling to meet with her is her first target. His rough hands, firm lips and sparkling, energy-infused eyes won’t save him from her vengeance. She has trained vigorously for this moment and she won’t fail at her assigned task.

Throwback Thursday – Warlord’s Return
One of the many things I love about Warlord’s Return is… it takes us full circle.
The first story in the series, Warlord Sky, begins with the Chamele warriors returning to their home planet after a visit to the Refuge.
This final story in the series begins with the Chamele warriors leaving their home planet for a visit to the Refuge.
This story also bridges series. The Refuge is the home of the heroes and heroines from the Refuge/Dark Thoughts series. The Chamele stories reside in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords series.

It is set in the Refuge, the settlement guarded by Kralj, Dita, and many of the modified humanoids from the Dark Thoughts/Refuge series. But Ariq, the hero, is a Chamele warrior and appears in many stories in the Chamele Barbarian Warlord series.
We meet some new beings in Warlord’s Return, including Xareni, the human heroine, and her eyeball-eating mini dragon.

Both Ariq and Xareni are warriors. The Succession Wars have ended. Ariq is looking for a new war and he finds one with Xareni. (grins) The chemistry between them sizzles. They battle. They have sexy times. They share their secrets.

Why didn’t I load more updates this week?
Because Strain, the hero of the second Cyborg Rebels story – Under Strain, and his female are being predictably uncommunicative. I wrote a couple chapters in his story and became stuck.
Why?
Because I had the heroine living on the wrong planet for her. She looked around her, saw she wasn’t where she was supposed to be, and wouldn’t do or say anything.
Aargh! (laughs) She is as stubborn as Strain is.
Anyhoo… I relocated her to the planet she insists she belongs on. I’m hoping the words flow this week. I want to complete the first draft before the holiday fun starts.
(It will be social distanced/Zoom-heavy/chocolate-abundant holiday fun but, as I suspect this will be our first and last lockdown holidays, I REALLY want to focus on it and enjoy it to the max).

Warlord’s Return – The Final Story In The Chamele Barbarian Warlords Series
Some reading buddies have been asking me if there will be more stories in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords Series.
Warlord’s Return IS the final story in the series.
Maybe, far in the distant future, I’ll write a next generation alien and modified humanoid series (I will DEFINITELY be writing a next generation cyborg series). I will never say never because ideas happen. But I have no plans at the moment to write any more stories featuring the Chameles.
Chamele warriors will likely appear as minor characters in other stories. They live in the same universe as the cyborgs and the modified humanoids and other species.
Chameles don’t travel outside their sector very often but a rare few HAVE made homes on other planets and they are always looking for battles. (grins)
