I originally thought Ariq, the hero of Warlord’s Return, would fall in love with a very different being, a medic who practiced in the Refuge, the settlement featured in the Dark Thoughts/Refuge series.
Ariq wasn’t having any of that. (grins) His attention was immediately snagged by Xareni.
Because…of course, it was. SHE IS AWESOME. Frag. A mini dragon has adopted her. That’s how amazing she is.

Warlord’s Return officially resides in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords series but it could have easily also been placed in the Refuge (Dark Thoughts) series.
Because all of the action is set in or near the Refuge. Kralj, Dita and their warriors also make appearances in the story.

Warlord’s Return is one of those magical stories that bridges series. It is set in the Refuge, the settlement guarded by Kralj, Dita, and many of the modified humanoids from the Dark Thoughts/Refuge series. But Ariq, the hero, is a Chamele warrior and appears in many stories in the Chamele Barbarian Warlord series.
We meet some new beings in Warlord’s Return, including Xareni, the human heroine, and her eyeball-eating mini dragon.

The Chamele Barbarian Warlords series and the Refuge (Dark Thoughts) series are very much entwined. The Chamele Barbarian series starts as the Chameles’ return from the Refuge. In Warlord’s Return, the final book in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords series, the Chameles return to the Refuge.
Both Ariq and Xareni are warriors. The Succession Wars have ended. Ariq is looking for a new war and he finds one with Xareni. (grins) The chemistry between them sizzles. They battle. They have sexy times. They share their secrets.

Why didn’t I load more updates this week?
Because Strain, the hero of the second Cyborg Rebels story – Under Strain, and his female are being predictably uncommunicative. I wrote a couple chapters in his story and became stuck.
Why?
Because I had the heroine living on the wrong planet for her. She looked around her, saw she wasn’t where she was supposed to be, and wouldn’t do or say anything.
Aargh! (laughs) She is as stubborn as Strain is.
Anyhoo… I relocated her to the planet she insists she belongs on. I’m hoping the words flow this week. I want to complete the first draft before the holiday fun starts.
(It will be social distanced/Zoom-heavy/chocolate-abundant holiday fun but, as I suspect this will be our first and last lockdown holidays, I REALLY want to focus on it and enjoy it to the max).
