The Cover Of Seizing Power And Star Trek

By Cynthia Sax on March 9, 2022

LOL You all are hilarious and I love you so very much. (tackle hugs)

After yesterday’s nod to Star Trek on this blog, I’ve been receiving a gazillion comments about how Power on the cover of Seizing Power looks a bit like Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

He DOES. But I swear I had nothing to do with his pose. That was all my awesome cover artist, Amanda Kelsey from Razzle Dazzle Design.

That you noticed the similarities? Stars. You’re the best buddies a writer could have. (more hugs) You made my day, my week, my year. Thank you!

Seizing Power

This cyborg believes he’s in control.

Power is the self-appointed leader of the cyborg council. Other members might debate situations. He makes the ultimate decisions.

When a threat to Homeland is revealed, he takes command of a fleet and ventures to the edge of cyborg-controlled space to investigate. He finds a rebellion led by a mysterious upstart he calls Cadet.

The plan Power derives is simple—he’ll quickly quash the uprising and teach its leader a lesson the warrior will never forget.

NO ONE challenges his authority.

Eirene Ours might be called a cadet by Power but she is NOT his subordinate. She is the arrogant E Model’s genetic match.

For much of her mature lifespan, she has desired the male, yearning for his dark-eyed gaze, craving his sure hands, longing for his respect.

That esteem was never granted. And Eirene Ours can no longer wait to earn it. There’s an external threat to their kind, a danger that might destroy them all.

Having lured Power to her home terrain, she now plans to use everything within her means — her fists, her daggers, her ship-destroying missiles — to pound that truth into her stubborn warrior’s thick metal skull.

The future of every cyborg is at stake. She can’t fail them.

Power will believe her. Or he will die.

Inspired By…

By Cynthia Sax on May 12, 2014

Almost every story is inspired by another story. Our personal histories, including our reading histories, influence who we are and what we write. My idea of what a erotic romance is has been shaped by the erotic romances I’ve read in the past.

I’ve watched A LOT of SciFi movies and TV shows. A LOT. Even if I’m not consciously thinking of a movie or TV show while I’m writing a story, I can usually find similarities to a classic as I read the first draft.

The Mission Menage series (Mission Menage, Savage Menage, Unleashed Menage, Assassin Mine, Menage Lost) reveals my fixation with Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. My androids aren’t like Data but they ARE androids (and as sexy – grins).

The Moonbeam series (Lust by Moonbeam, Ravished by Moonbeam, Exposed by Moonbeam, Passionate by Moonbeam) is a nod to the Predator movies. The heroes have ridges, natural armor! That’s the only similarity but it is notable (because they are RIDGES! LOL).

The heroes of the Warlords series (Warlord’s Bounty, Warlord Unarmed, Warlord Reunited, Warlord’s Mercy) have that Riddick animalism. The clones are a tribute to Star Wars and Gattaca. I love the concept of cloning and the possibilities cloning might create for a fated to mate species.

The Tattooed Tryst series (Tattooed Tryst, Alien Tryst, Tryst Denied releasing in June) is inspired by Men In Black. What if there were beings policing the aliens visiting Earth? In my stories, these beings are aliens, not humans. They police alien travel on many planets, taking the form of the native species (because morphing is also freakin’ cool).

I’m currently working on a new SciFi erotic romance series and I can already see some similarities to another SciFi movie. (grins) That’s both a curse and a blessing. Being a super fan of the genre, I know I can’t write anything truly original. Something in my story will remind me of something in a movie or show (when I blow up a world, I always have a death star moment). But I’m also paying homage to the great SciFi world builders I admire.

While investigating some mysterious disappearances, Kane uncovers two secrets that change his world. He’s not entirely human. He’s also dangerously close to death. His alien grandfather has broken a sacred rule, putting his entire bloodline, including Kane, at risk of termination.

Eshe, a sexy blonde scientist with lush lips and a hot body, is Kane’s only hope to save his family. He’ll do anything to keep her safe, including fighting alien warriors, crossing vast galaxies and giving his woman the pleasure she craves again and again, using every inch of his fit physique.

In this world, passion is power and love is necessary for survival.
