First Scene From Dark Cure
Dark Cure, the final installment in the Dark Thoughts/Refuge series will be releasing November 13th. Woot! I love this story and I hope you’ll love it too.
While we wait, I’ll be sharing the first chapter. Today, I’m sharing the first scene from that first chapter.
Healing was Gisella’s sole purpose in the universe.
Determined not to repeat the mistakes her mother had made, she banished any other distractions from her lifespan, suppressing her yearnings for a male, for children, for love.
She focused on her role as a medic, on those important duties.
As the lead medic within the Refuge, Carinae E’s largest settlement, her responsibilities included more than saving the lifespans of those she personally tended. She also had to train the next generation of healers.
Her current protégé, Pono, was a Tau Cetian who had lost everything when the Humanoid Alliance blew up her planet. After discovering the girl was like her, all alone in the universe, Gisella had offered to mentor her. Pono had gripped that opportunity with both hands and now bubbled over with enthusiasm.
“If I work two shifts a planet rotation like you do, Lead Medic, I’ll progress even quicker.” The girl chattered as she walked beside Gisella, the two of them navigating the corridors of the medic bay. “Medic Shaushka made that suggestion.”
“Medic Shaushka is the second best medic on Carinae E.” Gisella was the most experienced healer. “Listen to her.”
The girl’s head bobbed. “She could have her own medic bay if she wanted that role. Other settlements have approached her and she turned them down.”
“Her mate is a merchant in the Refuge.” Gisella stifled a sigh.
Like Gisella’s mother, the other medic was choosing love over her dreams, putting a male first. She suspected the female would later regret her decision, would become just as bitter and disillusioned at the end of her lifespan.
Which was a shame as Medic Shaushka was a skilled healer.
Gisella stopped in front of a chamber. “What’s the status of our next patient?” She looked at her protégé.
“He’s an Ahkian male.” Pono consulted her private viewscreen. “His hand has been severed. Source of trauma is unknown. He was given a prolonger and a pain inhibitor by the receiving medic.”
They were treating another severed hand. Gisella shook her head. Since a certain group of barbarians landed on the planet, the number of reattachments she’d performed had tripled.
“He might be violent.” The Refuge catered to outlaws and outcasts, was home to the some of the most vicious beings in the universe. “Be on your guard.”
She slid one hand into her jacket’s front pocket, curled her fingers around the tiny gun hidden there, and placed her other palm on the control panel. The doors opened. She strode into the space. Her protégé followed her, locking the door behind them.
A male with greasy dark-blue hair and lighter-blue skin turned toward them, a gun in his right hand. Strips of dirty cloth were wrapped around his left wrist. “Finally, a fuckin’ medic arrives.” He holstered his weapon. “I’ve been waiting here for an entire fuckin’ shift.” His eyes were bright yellow.
Shit. He was a Mox-X addict. They were extremely volatile, the drug altering their brains.
Gisella stepped to the side, positioning herself protectively in front of her protégé. “You’ve been waiting here for mere moments.” That information had been recorded in his file. “Sit on the sleeping support.”
“I don’t have time to fuckin’ sit.” He glanced at the now-closed door. “I need my hand reattached now.”
That body part had been set on a horizontal support. He might be blasted out of his skull on drugs but he’d had the foresight to retrieve his hand.
“I’m not treating you until you sit.” A seated patient was less dangerous.
The male huffed yet did as he was told, plunking his ass on the sleeping support. “I’m seated.” He glared at her.
“Then I can treat you.” She unwrapped his wrist. “Was the object that severed your hand clean?”
That question was asked for her listening protégé’s benefit. The cloth utilized to stop the bleeding was filthy. The wound would be infected.
“One of those Chamele bastards with their fuckin’ claws attacked me.” Her patient confirmed her suspicions. “I didn’t see him coming.”
The damn barbarians had fought with yet another resident, creating more work for her and her team. She pressed her lips together.
“It was none of his fuckin’ business.” The Ahkian spewed hatred. “He had no—”
The doors behind Gisella opened. Only one being in the Refuge had the ability to unlock them. She straightened.
“The female you decided was your fuckin’ business died.” Kralj’s voice came from everywhere and nowhere. The Ruler of the settlement had powers she’d never witnessed in another being.
“Fuck.” Her patient reached for his gun. “You found me.”

A warrior seeking forever faces a medic living in the moment.
Gisella, the Refuge’s medic, is dedicated to her role. She doesn’t have the space in her lifespan for love, a mate, or children. Healing is her entire focus.
But she’s also a female in her prime. She has needs, wants, cravings…especially for a scarred, long-haired barbarian warrior temporarily residing in the settlement. One fierce, soul-blasting, passion-filled encounter is all she is willing to give him before she returns to her duties.
Oghul, a Chamele Warlord’s Second-In-Command, has waited his entire lifespan to find his gerel, the being fated to be his. He’s thrilled to discover she wants him as savagely as he yearns for her.
His little human medic appeals to his primitive possessive side. Greatly. He wants to stamp his ownership all over her bountiful curves, take her back to his home planet, claim his fiery female permanently.
When Carinae E’s solitary sun rises, two determined beings with very different desires find their lifespans entwined. Their battle for emotional supremacy will span systems and alter destinies.
The universe will never be the same.

Chapter One
Only Zeta and Gale could induce me to leave my sanctuary and return to this cursed planet. Elle trudged across the barren plains of Chamele 1, her boots crunching on the crystallized snow.
I told all of my bounty hunters to avoid the Chamele system but did those two listen? No. The winds blasted against Elle’s back, pellets of ice biting into her white, cold-temperature suit.
Not only did they enter the system but they then compounded their bad decisions by bonding with Berke’s brothers. Warlords who are, I suspect, as arrogant as he is. Elle gritted her teeth and stomped toward the rock outcropping, venting her irritation on the frozen ground.
I should leave Zeta and Gale to share my fate, their misguided belief in lasting love forcing them to avoid all contact with other males, to spend their life spans isolated, alone, trapped.
Elle sighed, knowing she couldn’t be that heartless, not when she could cure her friends and spare them that pain. She continued her solitary trek. Each step brought her closer to the hardhearted male she needed for their cure and her anger flowed into bone-deep dread.
She’d met Berke mere steps away from this location. She’d been a young bounty hunter then and had crashed upon the planet while chasing a fugitive. She had tried to borrow a Chamele ship. Berke had intercepted her. He’d risen from a snow bank as though he’d been part of the land he guarded, rushed toward her with his inhuman speed, disarmed her easily, and pinned her to the unrelenting ground.
Elle had looked upward, met his dark gaze and awareness had flowed over her body, a sense of home engulfing her. From that instant onward, her heart had belonged to him, would always belong to him. She’d returned with Berke to his underground chambers and they’d spent many planet rotations playing, hunting, kissing, touching. He’d teased her about being a weak human. She’d called him a barbarian.
One sundown, they’d gone too far physically, sexually bonding, an act Elle had cherished and Berke had regretted. He’d called it a mistake, his cold voice cutting through her soul. After that, the playing had stopped, replaced with increasingly frantic rutting. When Berke had taken her to Dorian 2 and left her there, she’d known he wouldn’t ever return.
Elle had been right. She’d given her bounty-hunter-school students the task of monitoring Dorian 2, solar cycles had passed and Berke hadn’t returned. He must have found a strong, worthy Chamele mate by now, had offspring, loved and been loved. She blinked back tears, feeling foolish for mourning a relationship that wasn’t meant to be.
He doesn’t care about me. I shouldn’t care about him. Elle tossed her head back defiantly, ice-covered strands of hair rattling against her cold-burned cheeks. I’ll capture him, run my experiments, break the bond, repeat the process for Zeta and Gale, leave Berke and the Chamele system forever.
She ignored the ache in her heart and scanned her surroundings, searching for danger, a habit ingrained from solar cycles of hunting fugitives. The sun’s rays had dimmed through space and cast a bluish glow over the desolate plains and jagged rock formations, the land as harsh and as humorless as the Warlord who ruled it.
Don’t think of him, of his hard body, his big hands, his sensual black eyes. Elle turned her back to the outside world, hunched her shoulders against the elements and carefully placed tabs on her gloved fingertips. She reached into the crevice, the break in the rock wall serving as a hidden backdoor to the Warlord’s private residences.
There was no sudden jolt that usually came with disrupting a Chamele security system. Elle frowned and peered into the darkness, her eyes adjusting slowly to the lack of light. Tabs already broke the circuit, deactivating the sensors.
Someone has already infiltrated Berke’s stronghold. Elle’s body tensed, her muscles pulling tight with concern over a male she shouldn’t care about.
Or he knows I’m coming for him. Elle relaxed. That scenario was more likely. Berke closely monitored landings on his planet. Even during that last visit to Dorian 2, the planet he’d left her on many solar cycles ago, he’d tracked activity on Chamele 1, putting his people’s safety first, before her, before their doomed relationship.
I no longer have the element of surprise. The challenge excited her. Elle pressed the button in her right cuff and her suit darkened to a concealing black. She slid into the crevice, entering the Warlord’s underground domain. The temperature increased immediately and the ice dangling from her eyelashes melted, the liquid splitting the light from the wall torches into a dizzying range of bright colors.
She moved along the narrow corridor, sprinting soundlessly from shadow to shadow. Her feet tingled, the feeling returning to her toes. The air grew warmer as she descended into the mining planet. Water dripped along the stone walls and perspiration slid between her breasts, invisible fingers of moisture stroking her skin.
Elle turned a corner and reeled backward as though she’d been struck. A piercing pain assaulted her brain and the air burned her nostrils. Threat. She searched the space, seeking the source of her agony.
A tall bare-chested male leaned against the far wall, taking inventory of his weapons. He moved his hands methodically over his daggers and guns, his body covered with an impressive array of weapons.
The strange male didn’t need a weapon to hurt her. Elle’s stomach heaved and bile rose in her throat, every moment spent away from Berke having reduced her tolerance for another male’s presence.
Ignore…pain. Elle breathed in, breathed out, breathed in, breathed out, pressing her body into a naturally formed alcove, the rock hard against her back. She examined the guard as she fought for composure, contemplating her next move.
The male had Berke’s long black hair, tanned skin and dark eyes. Despite the Chamele warrior’s broader, more heavily scarred face, Elle saw his resemblance to the Warlord. He must be one of Berke’s beloved brothers. The pain leveled, allowing her to think, to take action.
I’ll capture him also. She plucked at her gloves, drawing the fabric higher over her wrists, concealing all of her exposed skin. If I can capture him. The brother’s defined chest, bulging biceps and thick, leg-covering-clad thighs made him a daunting opponent. Elle extracted the gun from her right hip holster, slid the lever to stun and aimed.
The brother raised his head, his dark eyes widened in alarm and she pressed the trigger. His face contorted and he fell silently to his knees.
“Gotcha,” Elle whispered. She holstered her gun and quickly, carefully strapped a leather gag over the brother’s closed mouth, preventing him from yelling for help.
Her captive jerked backward, his bare shoulder brushed Elle’s cheek and searing pain shot across her face, down her neck, welts bubbling on her skin. Moisture dripped from her nostrils, her head pounding and her knees shaking.
Elle bit back a curse. Once one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxies, she had almost been incapacitated by a mere touch.
“I should kill your brother for that offense alone,” she murmured. Bonding with Berke had ruined any chance she had of enjoying a normal life, her affliction forcing her to resign from active bounty hunting and to sequester herself at the all-female bounty-hunter school.
The captured warrior’s gaze met hers, his jaw dropped, and the gag automatically tightened, strangling any protest he might make.
“And I should kill you for bonding with my friend, whichever one of my dear friends you have in your grasp.” She pulled his arms back and bound his wrists, the reinforced restraints unbreakable even by a Chamele warrior.
“But killing you now would hurt either Zeta or Gale, something I’d never do.” She restrained his boot-covered ankles. “I’ll capture Berke and come back for you.” Elle stood back, studied him and nodded curtly, satisfied he wouldn’t be able to free himself.
“Don’t go anywhere.” She continued along the corridor, glad to be away from Berke’s brother, away from the physical pain he caused her.
Berke will cause me another type of pain. She steeled herself for that confrontation. I’m stronger, stronger than he thinks.
As Elle approached his private chambers, she frowned. The alarms around the back entrance had been activated. Did they expect the brother to stop me? She snorted softly as she placed tabs on the sensors. Berke had always underestimated her, his weak human mate.
Prepare for a nasty surprise, Warlord. Elle pressed her glove against the control panel, the simulated handprint mimicking Berke’s creased palm and scarred fingers.
The doors slid open, and a tantalizing wall of musk hit her, Berke’s scent holding no pain, only pure pleasure. My male. Elle’s pussy moistened and her nipples tightened, the rush of emotion making her head spin.
No. She pressed her lips together, fighting her arousal. He’s no longer your male, Elle. He’s your target. Focus on your target.
She slipped inside, searching for a shadow to hide in. There wasn’t any concealing darkness, the space brightly lit, and panic rose within her, swirling with her desire.
“You shouldn’t be here,” an achingly familiar voice rumbled, Berke’s words reaching deep inside of her, weakening her knees and stripping her pride. “It isn’t safe.”

Chapter One
“Your condition is unacceptable, fugitive.” Zeta glared at the dried torso pinned under a twisted piece of black panel, the male’s flight suit shredded and faded, his head and limbs missing. “I need you alive.”
Currents of scorching hot air wafted up from the reddish-brown sand, Chamele 4 barely inhabitable, its extreme temperatures legendary. An anonymous tip had led Zeta to the arid planet. The highly visible scattered remains of the single-manned ship had narrowed her search.
“I must be mistaken. You can’t be him. Fate isn’t that cruel,” Zeta muttered, knowing first-hand that it was. She jabbed the tester deep into the male’s chest and the brittle skin cracked on impact, all moisture long evaporated from the corpse.
She squinted at the tiny screen. A trickle of perspiration ran down her spine, her shirt sticking to her torso, the heat absorbed from the leather straps holding her daggers and guns burning through the coarse fabric.
“Target confirmed,” the machine chirped happily.
“Son of a Palavian whore.” Anxiety twisted Zeta’s stomach into tight little knots. The client required the intergalactic jewel thief retrieved alive.
“I traveled across two galaxies for nothing, no thief, no bounty.” She tilted her head back and stared at the giant blood-red sun, finding no solution to their precarious financial situation there, the rent for their bounty-hunter school due in fifteen universal days. “I can’t go back empty handed. I can’t disappoint the girls.”
Rough fingers drifted across her forearm, sending waves of sweet sensation rippling over her body, the caress tightening her nipples and lighting flames of desire deep within her.
“Touch me again and I’ll shoot your invisible ass,” Zeta warned, her inappropriate arousal irking her. Since her arrival on the planet, the male had tracked and tormented her. At every opportunity, he’d stroked her skin and fondled her curves, building a need she couldn’t tend to, her personal time limited.
Her yet-to-be identified stalker chuckled, the sound low and pussy-moistening deep.
She turned slowly, surveying the landscape, searching for signs of him. No shadows fell upon the viewscreen lodged in the sand to her right, the clear surface cracked, feathered with fine fractures. Behind her, only a single set of footprints marred the otherwise untouched sand dunes. The fossilized remains of what might have once been a tree loomed to her left, as dead and lifeless as the planet it inhabited.
“Spirits,” Zeta grumbled as she trudged toward her ship, the wind biting at her back. She hunched her shoulders in defeat, leaving the headless corpse of her target to disintegrate to dust, baked by the relentless sun.
“Behind you, Zeta,” her mysterious male urged, his gruff words spoken in the universal language.
She extracted a dagger from her waist sheath and pivoted. A giant featherless creature swooped silently downward, the weather-worn hide on its wings stretched tight. Its talons reached out for her, its prey. Its huge beak opened, revealing multiple rows of sharp teeth, the beast designed for killing.
Zeta snapped her wrist, releasing her favorite dagger, the action as natural to her as breathing. The weapon whistled through the air and lodged with a juicy smack in the creature’s right eye socket, bursting the eyeball. The beast screeched and reared upward, flapping its great wings.
Zeta grabbed another dagger and carefully aimed. The creature rolled in the cloudless sky, spinning away from her, its velocity too fast for her to lock upon.
“Your hide is mine.” She ran after the predator, determined to down her attacker and retrieve her mother’s dagger, that last gift from her now-dead parent having once served as her only protection.
You have to look after yourself now, Zeta. Her mother’s final words echoed in her ears as she sprinted, her gaze fixed on the creature’s fading silhouette, its monstrous form etched against the bright sun.
With three more beats of its great wings, the animal surged out of range, and Zeta skidded to a stop, sand spraying her ugly black boots, her clothes soaked with perspiration.
“No thief, no bounty and now, one less dagger.” She kicked a large red boulder, its varying shades of color delineating centuries of soil settlement. “This day couldn’t get any worse.” Zeta sheathed her remaining dagger, disgusted by her failure.
“It could have been worse. You could have been eaten by the rock vulture.”
Him again. “Is that what happened to you?” She cocked her head, her hair sliding over her shoulders, hanging loose, her fastener also lost during the assault. “Are you a spirit, destined to walk the sands of Chamele 4, warning others of your mistake?”
“I’m no spirit, little hunter. And I don’t make mistakes.” A muscled form materialized from the nearby wall of rock, his skin turning from red to tan, his long hair darkening to black. He was dauntingly large, his biceps huge and defined, his broad shoulders tapering down to a narrow waist and then disappearing into nothing.
“You have no legs.” Zeta frowned, meeting his midnight gaze, his face as hard as the stone he faded into. “What are you?”
His lips quirked upward. “I have legs.” A long silver scar slashed down his cheek from his left eye to the corner of his mouth. “My invisibility, as you call it, is for your benefit. I’m in hunting mode and Chameles hunt naked.” He spread his fingers and long, deadly claws extended from his knuckles.
“Oh.” Zeta’s face heated, the urge to see him, all of him, tremendous. Is he as big all over? A pulse throbbed deep in her womb, her starved sex drive demanding her attention, too much of her life spent alone, untouched, emotionally safe.
I don’t need him. She bit the inside of her cheek, smothering her arousal with pain. I don’t need anyone.
He breathed deeply, his nostrils flaring, his chest rising and falling, the sun’s rays casting shadows over his muscles. “This isn’t the time nor place for rutting, gerel.” His dark eyes glittered. “The rock vulture is a vengeful creature. She’ll return.”
Zeta instinctively stepped closer, drawn to him. “She’ll return with my dagger.” She touched her empty sheath, feeling its loss.
His gaze remained locked on her face, his focus thrilling. “She’ll return with her flock. They’ll peck your stubborn skull open and feast on your brains.” He retracted his claws, reached out and circled her wrist with his fingers. “Come.” He dragged her forward, his grip unbreakable.
“I’m not going anywhere with you, Chamele.” Zeta leaned back, digging her heels into the sand, slowing his progress.
“My name is Khan.” He tugged on her arm and she winced, her muscles straining. “Walk or be carried. That is your choice.”
“Suck on a loaded gun, Khan.” Zeta clasped a rock outcropping with her free hand. “I need my dagger back.” She yanked on the wrist he’d restrained, struggling to liberate herself from his barbarian clutches.
Khan held her easily, standing before her as though he was one of the giant unmovable stone spires surrounding them, not a bead of sweat forming on his slightly-sloping forehead. “I’ll supply you with everything you need.”
“I doubt that,” she grumbled, tiring, her energy dissipating under the hot sun. “Unless you have a bounty on that arrogant head of yours.”
“I have several bounties on my arrogant head.” Khan raised his chin proudly, his countenance harsh and unforgiving. “The lowest bounty would pay for your ship three times over.”
“Sure.” Zeta snorted, a bounty that large reserved for the deadliest of criminals. “And I’m the empress of Chamele 4, queen of all you survey.”
“Chamele 4 is a hunter planet only, unfit for permanent settlement.” Khan informed her, his voice flat, devoid of any humor. “And Chameles have no Empresses. We are fierce warriors. We have Warlords and their ladies.” He pressed his fingertips into her wrist, his touch appealingly possessive, as though he had claimed her. “I offer you the Warlord’s lady position on Chamele 2, a lush, rich planet.”
“I’m no one’s lady.” He sounds serious and he looks as tough as the planet he inhabits. Zeta studied him through lowered eyelashes. Could he have a bounty on him? She twisted her arm, unable to loosen his grip yet too stubborn to give up. “You shouldn’t joke to a bounty hunter about being wanted.”
“I don’t joke and I lose patience with you, foolish female.” Khan stalked closer to her and a frisson of excitement zipped up Zeta’s spine. “You’ve made your choice.” He released her wrist, leaving a ring of pink on her pale skin.
“I’m free.” She held up her hand, her triumph tempered with disappointment, expecting, needing, wanting more resistance from her brutish savage.
“Not free. Never free,” Khan rumbled. “Carried, it is.” He spanned her waist with his huge hands and slung her over his shoulder. Her stomach collided with unyielding muscle and she gasped, the air whooshing from her lungs.
“Let me go.” Zeta twisted her torso, pushing against his shoulders and yanking on his long hair, the strands surprisingly soft, the musky scent of him filling her nostrils.
He strode quickly toward her ship, leaving no footprints in the sand, no trace they’d ever been there. I could disappear forever and no one would ever find me. Zeta renewed her efforts to escape.
“Stop squirming.” Khan smacked her fabric-covered ass hard, an arousing warmth radiating from the point of contact.
“Stop carrying me.” Zeta leveled a blow where his invisible ass should be, the flat of her palm connecting with firm skin, the sound shockingly loud. He grunted, jerking forward, and his speed increased, the barren landscape blurring around them.
“Put me down.” She kicked her feet into his stomach and pummeled his back with her fists, his body impressively solid.
“I said stop.” He cuffed her ass, the impact sharp, the delectable pain drawing more moisture from her already drenched pussy.
“Never,” Zeta spat, wiggling, grinding against him, striving to find release. Khan’s big hand rained down on her curves, heating her skin through her clothes, rewarding her with the punishment she craved.
This was what all of my previous casual encounters were missing. This dominance. This pain. Zeta writhed, stroking his back wildly with her fingers, passion coiling around her tighter and tighter. Close. So close. She panted, tilting her ass into his descending hand.
“No.” Khan stopped abruptly and Zeta gritted her teeth, swallowing her scream of frustration, one blow away from fulfillment. “Not yet, gerel.” He propped her against the side of her ship, trapping her between the metal panels and his body, his thighs wedged between hers, solid yet unseen. “You won’t come until I allow you to.”
“I’ll come when I want to come and I want to come right now.” She flicked her leg coverings open and defiantly slipped her fingers inside, reaching for her clit, determined to finish the job her own damn self. I don’t need him.
“No.” Khan pulled her hands out of her leg coverings, his dark eyes turbulent. He appeared as aroused as she was, his chest heaving and his invisible cock pushing against her, long and hard and thick. “You’ll listen to me first.”
“No.” She glared at him, arching into his body, silently asking for more.
“Yes.” He spread her arms to the sides, looming over her, in complete control. With his claws, his size, his brawn, he could strip her naked and fuck her senseless, taking whatever he wanted from her restrained body, and she couldn’t stop him. Zeta breathed heavily, more stimulated than she’d ever been in her long, solitary life.
“When I release you, you’ll return to your ship.” Khan leaned his forehead against hers, the tips of their noses touching, his breath wafting on her lips, his tenderness unexpected, confusing. “You’ll lock the door behind you and you’ll open it only for me.”
“Why would I open it for you?” she asked, clinging to her rebellion, showing him no weakness.
“Because I’ll give you this.” Khan cupped her mons and she inhaled sharply, his strength, his grasp, thrilling. “I’ll give you what you need.” He smiled smugly, kneading her with his fingers, building her desire, her thighs shaking uncontrollably under him.
“I’ll lay you upon that rock so all of Chamele 4 can see your passion, your beauty.” He glanced at the flat boulder near the path they’d taken and Zeta swallowed hard, her throat dry, her nipples taut, aching for him.
His gaze returned to hers. “Then I’ll climb on top of your small body and mount you with one hard thrust, filling your wet pussy with my big cock.” He thrust his hips forward, driving that big cock against her, and she moaned, trembling with need. “I’ll rut into you with such force, such vigor, that you’ll scream my name, and I won’t stop until you beg for my seed.”
Stars. Zeta curled her fingers into fists, digging her fingernails into the palms of her hands. “I never beg,” she whispered, blatantly lying, a plea for more of his rough touch dangling on the tip of her tongue.
His lips lifted in a smile, an emotion resembling respect reflecting in his eyes. “You will for me.” He pushed down with his thumb, pressing the seam of her leg coverings against her clit, and she froze, unable to move, to think, to breathe.
“Come for me, Zeta.” He rubbed, grinding the coarse cloth into her sensitive flesh, giving her the roughness she craved, pushing her over the edge.
Zeta screamed, bucking forward, smacking her face against his chest, her world exploding with color and light. Khan caught her, holding her as she thrashed, pinned between her ship and his body, captured by her big barbarian, needing to move yet not wanting to be freed.
“Such passion, such beauty,” he murmured into her hair, cradling her head against his chest, petting her with a gentleness no warrior should ever exhibit. Zeta allowed herself to be held, savoring the experience, none of the other males she’d fucked having ever offered comfort, only him, only Khan. I need him.
For sex. She stiffened, panic straightening her spine, the connection between them scaring her. I don’t need him for anything else.
“Enough.” Zeta pushed him away, needing to escape, to get away from him, from her emotions and her need.
“Never enough.” Khan stepped back and she slid to the ground, her boots sinking into the sand, her knees weakening, threatening to buckle underneath her.
She gritted her teeth and grasped onto her ship’s panels, securing her footing. Khan watched her closely yet he didn’t reach out to her, his faith in her strength steadying her legs and reviving her confidence. I can take care of myself.
Khan nodded curtly as though agreeing with her unspoken statement and he pivoted, his movements smooth and graceful, his ass and legs remaining invisible. “I’ll return for you at daybreak, gerel.” He strode away from her and faded into the landscape, becoming one with the harsh planet.
“I won’t be here,” Zeta called after him, having no reason to remain on Chamele 4, her target dead, her rations and fuel scarily low, every spare credit spent on the school. “I shouldn’t be here,” she amended.

http://www.arecafe.com/cafe-news/hooked-on-a-series-elloras-cave-samhain-and-loose-id/
Woot!
I’m thrilled that so many reading buddies enjoyed this series. It was an absolute joy to write!
Tolui, a clone of a powerful Warlord, is a male without a homeland or a future. Doomed to never mate, he ruthlessly wages war, seeking to give his clone brothers a planet system to call their own, a place where they can live without persecution.
When Tolui crashes on a deserted planet and meets a small human female, he discovers everything he knows about clones is a lie. Lea, his destined mate, frees the passion he’s suppressed over his lifetime. He wants her. He needs her. He’ll do anything to bond with her.
But he won’t share her. Tolui’s greatest battle will be the fight for Lea’s heart. To win her love, he’ll face hundreds of his clone brothers, men who look exactly like him.

Warlord Unarmed was featured on the USA Today blog today!
Solar cycles ago, Elle bonded with Berke, the fiercest of all Warlords. He declared their sexually intense bonding a mistake, deposited Elle on a distant planet and returned to Chamele to fight the wars of succession. Elle dealt with their separation by creating one of the best bounty-hunter schools in the galaxies.
Now, two of her top students have made the same mistake she did, bonding with Chamele Warlords. Determined to develop an antidote and save them from the pain she’s experienced, Elle captures her barbarian mate. Tempers flare and passions burn as she thaws the ice around Berke’s heart, revealing a desire too strong to ever be dissolved.

Warlord Reunited Releases!
Warlord Reunited, the third story in the Warlord SciFi erotic romance series (the first two stories being Warlord’s Bounty and Warlord Unarmed), releases today from Ellora’s Cave (it should release on Amazon, ARe, and B&N next week).
Warlord’s Mercy, the fourth and final Warlord, is being edited. Next week, I’m hosting a contest, asking you for the name of this story’s hero. You’ve met him already. (grins)
