Strike Zone And Baseball
My Awesome Mom is a HUGE baseball fan. She played semi-seriously in her youth. She was a catcher in a team that toured a little bit. My Awesome Mom knows the sport inside and out.
She watches baseball all year round. Yep, she subscribes to a special channel that broadcasts the Grapefruit League.
The title of Strike Zone is a nod to my Awesome Mom’s great love of baseball.
A strike zone is the area above the home plate through which a pitch has to pass in order to be called a strike. When the ball is in that zone, the batter either swings at it, giving them the possibility of getting on base or, better yet, a home run, or they don’t swing at it and they are that much closer to striking out.
It is the baseball equivalent of do or die…similar to how Strike’s mission is do or die for the cyborgs and possibly the universe.

Claiming Cure And Book Descriptions For Pre-Orders
I’ve loaded a book description for Claiming Cure, the third core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (releasing in November), to booksellers.
This book description has NOT been edited. It will also likely change. Perhaps significantly.
I hadn’t written any of Claiming Cure when I wrote that book description. It reflects what I THOUGHT the story would be.
But stories change. Often. (grins) Characters have their own agendas and do…well…whatever they like. Cure and his human female aren’t any different.

Street Cats And Rebels
Over the past few Sundays, I’ve been sharing some of the photos the Dear Wonderful Hubby and I have taken of street cats all over the world.
I have so much love for these cats. They are doing their own thing, surviving on their own.
Yes, they would have much easier lives if they allowed humans to care for them. They would be fed every day. They’d sleep in climate-controlled houses. They would be safe.
But many of them choose to live outside, on their own. They embrace that freedom…and that risk.
I see them as the rebels of the cat world. And you know, from reading my stories, I have a weakness for rebels. (grins)

Photo Or It Didn’t Happen
I recently posted about something that happened to me.
A commenter new to me asked for photo ‘evidence.’
I, of course, don’t need to prove my reality to some stranger. (shakes head)
But also…I’m a WRITER. I’m not a photographer. (grins) I create word pictures. Words are my medium.
I rarely have my camera with me. And if I do have a camera with me, I never think to reach for it.
I’m, instead, creating sentences in my brain. I’m experiencing everything, using all my senses, to craft it into words later.
So no, I don’t have photo evidence. The images only exist in my memory and, if I craft the words with sufficient skill, in your mind.

Making Treats Last
I’m currently eating a Cadbury Creme Egg the Dear Wonderful Hubby gave me before Easter.
I have 9 eggs left. I won’t get more until next year. I’m making these delicious treats last.
When I eat one, I often set aside everything else I’ve been doing and focus on the experience. I let the chocolate melt on my tongue. I savor every moment of it.
In this increasing wild world, I think we should all do that more often. When we encounter something wonderful, we should set aside everything else if that is at all possible and we should focus on that good.
Make those treats last.

The Impact Of War On Nature
In Strike Zone, Kesser, the heroine, sees the lingering impact of a now-ended war on an enemy planet. She sees the grooves in the ground, the flattened buildings, the ripped up vegetation and the debris.
The first time I visited France, I saw the lingering impact of World War II. I saw the dips in terrain where the trenches once were. I noticed that some places had no old buildings or old trees. The scars on the land were visible decades after that war had ended.
War ends. But the impacts from war continue long after peace returns. And battlegrounds recover very slowly.

When Missions Merge
In the first three core stories in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (Strike Zone – now released, Drift Would – releasing in July and Claiming Cure – releasing in November), the heroes and the heroines begin their stories with different missions.
In all three stories, the heroes and heroines team up to try to tackle their missions. In some cases, both missions aren’t completed. In some cases, they are.
But the very act of forming two-individual teams, partnerships, strengthens their growing bonds. And I find that really exciting!

Rogue One is the favorite Star Wars work in the Sax household. The Dear Wonderful Hubby, especially, loves the premise of a group of rebels taking on a dangerous mission, knowing they’re doomed but doing it because it will save their world(s).
Of all the stories I’ve written thus far, Drift Would (releasing in July) has the greatest Rogue One vibes. Yes, it IS a romance. The romantic couple survives and gets their romantic happy ever after. But there is also sacrifice and bravery and a dangerous almost impossible mission and other Rogue One good stuff in it.

Strike Zone – Missions Not Completed
At the beginning of Strike Zone, Strike, the cyborg hero, is given a mission.
He doesn’t complete it.
He makes progress on it. And he helps his female complete HER important mission. But he doesn’t finish his initial assignment.
And that’s okay. It doesn’t make him any less of a hero.
Sh*t happens. Changes occur. Life is fluid.
Strike processes there are millions of cyborgs who are ready, willing and eager to complete his mission.
