Claiming Cure And Taking Every Comment Literally
Cure might be one of the least socially adept heroes I’ve ever written. (grins)
Cyborgs don’t have the ability to lie, which means they also don’t have the ability to use sarcasm. Some cyborgs can detect it in others.
Cure…doesn’t detect sarcasm in anyone. He takes everything said to him literally and that is often EXTREMELY humorous.
For others. Not always for him.
He also isn’t the best at picking up on hints. He prefers beings tell him exactly what they want and share exactly what they mean.
That is convenient because he’ll soon meet face-to-face with a human medic who isn’t shy about telling him exactly what she thinks of him. (laughs)

Claiming Cure And Being A Doctor In A Small Town
Doctors/Medics are viewed as authority figures, especially in Doctor/Patient dynamics. In some cases, a doctor could hold the power of life or death over a patient.
A doctor dating their patient is extremely unethical. The patient would find it difficult to say no.
Which makes dating for single doctors in a small town VERY difficult.
As Cyra, the medic heroine of Claiming Cure, has found out. She is the sole medic in a small settlement. Every being there is a potential patient.
Unless that being is a medic visiting temporarily from another planet…or battle station. (grins)

With most of the covers the Always Awesome Amanda Kelsey has crafted for me in the cyborg universe, the dominant color on the cover serves as an overlay over the image of the cyborg depicted.
Drift’s gray skin looks greenish on the cover of Drift Would. Strike’s skin looks fiery red on the cover of Strike Zone.
Cure’s gray skin, ironically, looks…tanned on the cover of Claiming Cure.

Cure, the chief medic on the Dauntless, yes, named himself Cure.

Cyra, his medic contact on Cancri B, knows that IS Cure’s true name.
Her friend, however, believes it is a joke.

Grid Locked – Cyborgs: Endgame
I’m currently crafting the first draft of Grid Locked (likely releasing in March) and I’m referring to it with my Dear Wonderful Hubby as Cyborgs: Endgame. (grins) That’s the vibe of this story.
I thought of Drift Would as Rogue One. Drift and Roshini are involved in a ‘doomed’ mission. They and their teams expected to die during it. Yet they engaged in it anyway. Because it was the right thing to do.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I, both music lovers, joke that we have a song for everything. We’ve listened to so many songs over the years. It is easy to find one with applicable lyrics.
The same is true for TV Shows and Movies. We’ve watched so many. It is easy to find one that has similarities to my stories.

The Day Before Release Day
Drift Would, the second core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series, releases tomorrow (tonight if you’ve pre-ordered it)! Woot!
Today, I am doing my usual day before release day thing.
I’m worrying that I didn’t upload the files properly to booksellers. (I HAVE uploaded them properly. I’ve verified this about one hundred times.)
I’m trying to distract myself by working on Claiming Cure, the next story. (This distraction won’t work.)

Drift Would And Connected Stories
Drift Would can definitely be read on its own.
But I know many reading buddies like to reread stories to ‘get in the mood’ for a new release.
The best story to reread is, of course, Strike Zone, the 1st core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series. The events in Strike Zone lead to the events in Drift Would.
Intrepid and his Valkyrie appear in Drift Would so you might also wish to reread Intrepid Encounter.
