Badge Bunnies is a collection of steamy paranormal romance shorter stories.
These stories are higher on humor than many of my other stories. The Super Secret Project is also higher on humor.
Fewer readers enjoy humorous stories. I realize this. I accept this. I don’t expect to hit any bestseller lists with my more humorous stories.
I’m writing and/or releasing them because writing them and reading them make ME happy. And maybe it will make someone else happy.

Badge Bunnies And Dog Shifters
Sadie, the heroine of Legal Beagle, the third story in the Badge Bunnies collection, is a dog shifter. Specifically, she’s a beagle shifter.
Dog shifters are NOT wolf shifters (or werewolves). Just as dogs are not wolves.

The gruff rough tough hero, Drake, is a genetically enhanced supercop keeping the peace in a futuristic world filled with paranormal creatures like vampires, shifters, trolls and others.

Badge Bunnies And A Gangster Rabbit Named Flopsy
The Godrabbit is the first story in the Badge Bunnies collection.
But Badge Bunny was actually the first story in the collection I wrote and had published. And it is where we first meet the hero of The Godrabbit. The heroine of Badge Bunny calls on her uncle, Uncle Flopsy, for help.
Uncle Flopsy is the head of a mafia-like family. And he’s a rabbit shifter.
Flopsy is a great name for a bunny. It is not as great of a name for a rough, tough Godrabbit.

Assassin’s Haiku And Covers
The Dear Wonderful Hubby took the photo used on the cover of Assassin’s Haiku.
It is an image of a culvert that serves as a below ground road crossing between a restaurant (and the surrounding forest) and a beach.
The inside of it sported now faded images painted by school children.
And when I decided to re-release Assassin’s Haiku, I knew it was the perfect image for this story.
It could very much be the entrance to one of the secret spaces for children in this story.

Assassin’s Haiku

Twice a week, every week, Haiku sits beside Dante in the dimly-lit underground poetry bar. As they listen to the poets read, she basks in the warmth of her genetically-enhanced assassin’s body, and longs for the smack of large, leather-clad hands against bare skin. No other male, human or otherwise, makes her tremble like Dante can with one dark look.
Her heart, body and soul are his, if only he’d ask.
Dante won’t ask, because he knows a killer doesn’t deserve love. Instead, he sits in silent torment, watching Haiku, wanting Haiku, yet unable to touch her.
She is poetry and light, embodying all that he fights for, and when Agency operatives attack the bar, putting Haiku in danger, he must protect her. He takes her to the safest place on the planet, his underground bunker, and then realizes he has made a deadly mistake.
Haiku may now be safe, but Dante’s heart has been put in jeopardy.

Yet I think if you liked those two stories, you’ll also like Assassin’s Haiku. The story is set on a futuristic dystopian Earth but it has the same gritty feel, the same Rebels vs the Fascists against-all-odds type of faceoff, the same…love.

Assassin’s Haiku
C.S. Sax
Twice a week, every week, Haiku sits beside Dante in the dimly-lit underground poetry bar. As they listen to the poets read, she basks in the warmth of her genetically-enhanced assassin’s body, and longs for the smack of large, leather-clad hands against bare skin. No other male, human or otherwise, makes her tremble like Dante can with one dark look.
Her heart, body and soul are his, if only he’d ask.
Dante won’t ask, because he knows a killer doesn’t deserve love. Instead, he sits in silent torment, watching Haiku, wanting Haiku, yet unable to touch her.
She is poetry and light, embodying all that he fights for, and when Agency operatives attack the bar, putting Haiku in danger, he must protect her. He takes her to the safest place on the planet, his underground bunker, and then realizes he has made a deadly mistake.
Haiku may now be safe, but Dante’s heart has been put in jeopardy.

Assassin’s Haiku And Art In A Time Of Peril
Assassin’s Haiku is a dystopian romance. The world in this story is very dark, very grim.
Yet the heroine, Haiku, is a poet. She frequents a poetry-sex bar.
Because art is ALWAYS needed. Wherever there are human beings, there will likely be art. Our ancestors painted on cave walls. Soldiers wrote poems while they were in the trenches during war. Rebels passed messages through song. Last thoughts were embroidered beautifully on remnants of clothing.
Art is something our hearts crave and our souls need…to flourish and to survive.
Write your stories. Sing your songs. Crochet your scarves. Paint your walls.
This is necessary for you to remain you.

Assassin’s Haiku And C.S. Sax
I debated long and hard about whether I should re-release Assassin’s Haiku under the Cynthia Sax name or the C.S. Sax name.
I love this dystopian romance and I really wanted it to be available to reading buddies.
The world is dark like the cyborg world. Our heroes and heroines are battling an authoritarian government like the heroes and heroines in the cyborg world are. The hero is a genetically modified assassin, very similar to the modified humanoids in the Dark Thoughts/Refuge Series world.
I think reading buddies who love those two worlds will love Assassin’s Haiku.
But it IS a re-release. And it isn’t technically a SciFi Romance (or Contemporary Romance).
So I decided to release it under C.S. Sax.
