Interview With Cara Bristol

By Cynthia Sax on August 10, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Cara Bristol for a short interview. Her latest release is Destiny’s Chance, a paranormal with a twist (and a spark – grins)!

Cynthia Sax: I feel the excitement around Destiny’s Chance. What, do you think, is causing this?

Cara Bristol: The way readers react to the story! I took risks in writing Destiny’s Chance. It’s “out of the box.” If readers want to read something that isn’t a same-old, same-old trope, then they should give Destiny’s Chance a try. It has received the best reviews of any book I’ve ever written. Here’s a sampling of what readers are saying:

“Absolutely amazing and very romantic. This read had me going from the moment I started reading it. I read it front to back in one night. I just couldn’t put it down.”

“The reader will quickly learn that the author has crafted a story far outside the box, and it’s fabulous.”

“Moving on so many levels.”

“This is a beautiful tale of second chances at true love that really pulled at my heartstrings quite a bit. The romance was sizzling hot with just the right amount of kink to not be too dirty, yet definitely spicy enough to make my toes curl.”

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Destiny’s Chance?

Cara Bristol: It evolved out of the idea of envy, desiring to walk in someone else’s moccasins. Did you ever want what someone had and wish you could be him or her? In Destiny’s Chance, that’s what happens. Destiny secretly loves her best friend’s boyfriend, Chance Everett. (I emphasize that Destiny never acted on her feelings, never betrayed her friend). But fate steps in. Destiny and Zoe (her friend) are in a terrible accident, Zoe is killed, and Destiny finds that her soul has taken possession of her friend’s body. Although she feels terrible about it and wishes she could bring her friend back, she realizes that in the eyes of the world, she is now Zoe and she can love Chance the way she always wanted to. Except….what Destiny’s doesn’t know is that Chance and Zoe had broken up and Chance had secretly loved Destiny. She’s expecting to pick up the relationship; Chance is thinking as soon as “Zoe” recovers, they’ll go their separate ways.

Cynthia Sax: How does Destiny’s Chance start?

Cara Bristol: The story opens with Destiny Grable waking up in the hospital. She doesn’t know yet that her soul has taken possession of her friend’s body and that in eyes of the world, she’s Zoe Richards. Zoe’s boyfriend comes to visit her, which surprises Destiny. Why would her friend’s boyfriend come to see her?

Cynthia Sax: Will Destiny’s Chance be the first story in a series?

Cara Bristol:
It’s not a series, but there’s a potential for another spin-off story between Destiny’s sister Laura and Chance’s brother Roman.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you, Cara Bristol, for joining us today!

Interview With Zara Zenia

By Cynthia Sax on August 8, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Zara Zenia for a short interview. Her latest release is Benzen: Warriors of Orba, a SciFi Romance!

Cynthia Sax: How does Benzen: Warriors of Orba start?

Zara Zenia: The Orbas are on their spaceship, fleeing their planet from the takeover by Palzu, another one of the Orbas. They end up crash landing on Earth and everything is new to them. I wanted to start it this way, so we get to see each of the Orbas who fled, and show what they know or don’t know about Earth, and to possibly have them come back in a future book!

Cynthia Sax: Where is Benzen: Warriors of Orba set?

Zara Zenia: It is set in Virginia, in the US, on Earth. It is in a smaller city, and the Orbas don’t know anything about customs or even foods on Earth. It is literally all foreign to them. It is exciting as you can see what another life form sees, thinks, feels, and knows compared to humans. It adds a sexy factor to the story, as it is as if Allison, the human on Earth, gets to do things with Benzen that he has never experienced before.

Cynthia Sax: Is Benzen: Warriors of Orba part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Zara Zenia: Yes this is a series, and I will certainly be writing more, possibly with the other Orbas as the lead characters!

Cynthia Sax: What advice would you give new writers?

Zara Zenia:
To just start writing, get words on the page, and then publish! Just sitting and thinking about writing won’t help!

Cynthia Sax: Thank you, Zara Zenia, for joining us today!

Interview With Tina Donahue

By Cynthia Sax on August 2, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Tina Donahue, one of my good buddies, for a short interview. Today is the release day for Passionate Pursuit, Tina’s sexy new historical!

Cynthia Sax: What makes Tomás so freakin’ sexy?

Tina Donahue: Although Tomás is a warrior knight, having fought in countless conflicts for the Spanish crown, he’s also a fair and compassionate man. With Beatriz, the woman he adores, he’s protective and gentle. Add to that his generally easy-going nature and wit, and he’s everything any woman would want. Courageous and daring on his alpha side, but also cherishing on a deeper level. Like most women, I love a strong hero. However, that doesn’t mean a man who snarls, dictates, or is generally abusive toward the heroine. That isn’t strength. A real man is comfortable in his own skin and can afford to be kind, generous, and cooperative. That’s also an adult. Nothing is sexier than a man who isn’t afraid to be emotionally intimate.

Cynthia Sax: You had me at warrior. How does Passionate Pursuit start?

Tina Donahue: Tomás has just finished his service to the Crown and has survived a near-fatal illness. You’d think the poor guy has earned some down time. Not a chance. Time now for him to wed. At least that’s what the Spanish mamás and their eager-to-marry daughters think. They descend upon his castle en masse. Fighting Moors has never been this challenging. Tomás longs to flee. More importantly, he yearns for Beatriz, the one woman he does want. However, as the story opens, Beatriz is a mere servant at his castle. Tomás has no idea the secret she’s hiding or that her past is an enormous obstacle to their future happiness.

Cynthia Sax: Ohhh… secrets. I love secrets. Where is Passionate Pursuit set?

Tina Donahue: Passionate Pursuit is set in medieval Spain. 1489 to be exact. The war with the Moors is ongoing with the Crown eager to reconquer lands. The Inquisition rages. Within this turmoil, is the countryside. A veritable paradise of lush forest, endless wheat fields, and Moorish castles that warrior knights have reclaimed for Spain. The monarchs have gifted Tomás with an opulent estate for his military service. Within this Eden, Tomás devises numerous delights for Beatriz to woo her and make her his.

Cynthia Sax: What advice would you give new writers?

Tina Donahue:
Write daily, read as much as you can, and know there isn’t anything close to overnight success. Yes, I know there are stories about authors who one day decided to write a book, did so, and now they’re zillionaires. If you dig deeper into their backgrounds, you’ll see they wrote and read as much as they could prior to writing that bestseller and they also were savvy marketers. Some also have contacts in the publishing industry. No successful writer happens by accident. That’s a myth. It takes endless hard work and constantly perfecting your craft to succeed. If you want to be a writer because it sounds cool or you’re eager to make a lot of money, this isn’t the career for you. Authors who last in this profession are those who write because they have to, not because they want to. Writing to them is as necessary as breathing, eating, living. It’s part of their soul. They’d be lost without it. If you don’t have that fire and drive, then you need to find another occupation.

Cynthia Sax: So true. I write for myself. I have stories published for readers. Thank you for the great advice, Tina, and also for joining us today!

Interview With Siren Allen

By Cynthia Sax on June 2, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Siren Allen for a short interview. Siren Allen’s most recent release is Her Alien Protector, a Sci-Fi Romance!

Cynthia Sax: What makes Raynor so freakin’ sexy?

Siren Allen: Raynor is handsome. He’s got a body that looks like it was carved from stone. He’s a great warrior and his smile sends chills down his mate’s spine. But, it’s the way he cares for his female that really makes him sexy. He puts her first and will do whatever he has to, even kill, to make sure her and those she love remains safe. Oh, and he looks good with his shirt off… and his pants.

Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Her Alien Protector?

Siren Allen: “Lark, you smell,” he inhaled deeply and then growled. “You smell like something I would like to taste.”

I absolutely love this line. It’s sexy. Raynor has a habit of saying extremely sexy things to his reluctant mate, Lark. His words make her blush. However, the sexier he talks to her, the more comfortable she gets around him and the more comfortable she feels in her own skin. After years of being treated as the ‘ugly sister’, she’s starting to realize that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. By just being himself, he’s helping her accept who she is. This sentence is not only sexy to Lark, it’s also refreshing and uplifting.

Cynthia Sax: Where does Her Alien Protector take place?

Siren Allen: Her Alien Protector takes place on Venus. I have always been obsessed with this planet. It happens to spin in the opposite direction of the other planets in our solar system. Though it’s not the closest planet to the sun, it’s still the hottest. I found the idea of placing a vampire on Venus intriguing. One day on Venus is about 243 Earth days, which meant my vampire would have to endure hellish conditions to be with his mate. Oh and did I mention there’s a harem filled with enhanced concubines? What happens on Venus stays on Venus.

Cynthia Sax: Is Her Alien Protector part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Siren Allen:
The name of this series is, The Beasts From Beyond. You will not only get to meet Raynor, but you’ll also meet his brethren. Though book 1 takes place on Venus, the other stories will be spread out all over the galaxy. Escape pods have a habit of crash landing on unknown worlds. J

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, Siren!

Siren Allen’s Website: https://sirenallen.com/beastsfrombeyond/

*****************************************************************************

Falling in love with a prisoner was against the rules.

So why was Lark allowing herself to get close to Raynor? He was domineering, cocky and much too handsome for his own good. Though her mind found him unbearable, her body was ready to endure anything he could deliver. However, inside of him lived a darkness unlike anything she’d ever witnessed. If the rumors were true, that darkness would consume any and everyone in its path. Lark was going to try her best to stay out of his way.

They called him The Destroyer.

Raynor Batiste was many things: a monster, a killer, one of the most feared creatures in the galaxy. He was a beast whose name sent shudders through his enemies. However, a prisoner he was not. He’d only allowed himself to be captured so he could get close to his mate, Lark Valdese.

That task was proving harder than he’d anticipated. Lark is afraid of what lives inside of him, and she should be. Yet, when her planet comes under attack, the evil lurking within him may be the only thing that can save her and her people. He’s willing to protect her planet, but his aid comes at a price, a price only Lark can pay.

Will Beauty give in to the Beast in order to save her world? Or will she learn that the monster inside of him is the reason her planet is being destroyed?

Interview With Jolie Mason

By Cynthia Sax on May 31, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Jolie Mason for a short interview. Jolie Mason’s next release is Brother Mine, a Science Fiction Romance about a brotherhood of assassins!

Cynthia Sax: Is Brother Mine part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Jolie Mason: This is part of a new series, The Brother Assassins. I’m leaving the number open ended, but there will be more assassins in future.

Cynthia Sax: What makes Mal and Adame right for each other?

Jolie Mason: This couple is drawn together because they share a cause, but they stay together because they see the other as the best person they’ve ever met. I know this sounds strange since he kills people for a living. But, for Mal, Adame is the product of his people’s oppression, and she’s right. Had there never been an invasion and his people never assimilated and enslaved, he’d be an ordinary guy on a Braxian planet. Instead, he took the only way out that circumstances presented him. He won his freedom, and he’s had to kill to keep it. Mal may have been raised in money and prejudice, but she’s been fighting for his freedom as well. Adame sees her as unique in the universe, maybe even as a gift from the Universe that has been so cruel and unjust.

Cynthia Sax: What makes Adame sexy?

Jolie Mason: Adame Sacha, pronounced Ah-Dah-may, is Braxian, not human, but this isn’t beauty and the beast. He’s pretty close to human, but intensely different. His sexy qualities are linked to his Braxian qualities. He’s focused, even before a mating happens, he’s curious about Mal, wants to know her, understand her. He displays a single minded determination to be the other half of this woman. Loyalty is extremely sexy.

Cynthia Sax: How does Brother Mine start?

Jolie Mason:
The first scene is an assassination. It’s the pivotal point where Adame and Mal are set on course to meet and fall in love. The man who dies is an influential senator who put up a bill that will destroy the Brax one at a time. Adame is the one who kills him, and Mal needs to find the one who destroyed her chance to convince Trill to pull the bill.. There was no other moment for the story to begin. The ripples start right there.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, Jolie!

Jolie Mason’s Website: https://joliemasonblog.wordpress.com/

*****************************************************************************

Mal Renata was born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth, but it never stopped her from becoming the voice of the Braxian people. As an activist fighting off mankind’s inevitable slide into cruelty and prejudice, she wants to stop the Scourge bill from becoming law, but how can she do that, if the bill’s supporters keep dying? Public outcry wants someone to pay, so she intends to give them someone.

Until she tracks down, Adame Sacha, a Braxian freedman and one of the notorious Brother Assassins, she thinks the brotherhood is her problem. Instead, she finds they may be the best allies she could hope for. Together, she and Adame search for those who are eager to profit from the suffering of the Brax, and they track their prey in a world where lives are held cheaply, but death is expensive.

They may be able to elude the dangers of his world for awhile, but they can’t run from the attraction to each other. No matter what their differences.

Interview With Tina Donahue

By Cynthia Sax on May 24, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Tina Donahue, one of my good buddies, for a short interview. Today is the release day for Wicked Whispers, Tina’s sexy historical!

Cynthia Sax: You’ve written so many delicious stories. What makes Wicked Whispers special?

Tina Donahue: My heroine, Sancha, and my hero, Enrique. The story takes place in 1488. Women weren’t allowed much, if any, freedom in those days. They were expected to wed and produce heirs. Sancha is different. She longs to heal. Highly educated, she can read and write Latin, Spanish, and Arabic, and has used Islamic medicine to help the peasants. As the storyline takes place during the Inquisition, Sancha’s healing could lead to her arrest and burning as a witch. She has more guts than I do. She’ll stop at nothing to save people, change the world, make it a fair place for men and women. She’ll also stop at nothing to love Enrique.

Although Enrique is a man of his time, he learns that to claim and keep Sancha’s love he must respect her as an individual. He moves heaven and earth to keep her safe so she can continue healing.

Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Wicked Whispers?

Tina Donahue: The night was perfect for love, their attraction too intense, his kiss soft and searching at first then filled with raw male need.

Given the Inquisition and a woman’s accepted role, Sancha and Enrique face no end of obstacles. Constraints Sancha fights against. She and Enrique shouldn’t be together, but can’t help themselves. Their love is so powerful, nothing can keep them apart.

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Wicked Whispers?

Tina Donahue: Years ago I wrote a paranormal romance that began during the Spanish Inquisition then fast forwarded to modern times. The research on this historical period fascinated me. I wanted to write a romance that took place when women could easily be called witches and lose their freedom or lives when all they wanted to do was heal and learn.

Cynthia Sax: Where is Wicked Whispers set?

Tina Donahue:
Wicked Whispers takes place in medieval Spain, 1488 to be exact. Spain is a beautiful country, the men decidedly sexy. The romance takes place against the backdrop of the Inquisition. During that period, danger lurked everywhere.

Cynthia Sax: I love Spain so much and I also love medieval romances. This sounds like exactly my kind of book, Tina. Thank you for joining us today!

Tina Donahue’s Website: http://tinadonahuebooks.blogspot.com/

*****************************************************************************

Follow the heart through darkness…

As the Inquisition gains force, even the faintest rumor can brand one a heretic. In this world it is Sancha’s gift–or curse–to be blessed with the gift of healing. But the villagers are in need of her arts more than ever, and she feels it is her duty to help them at the risk of losing her life. And at the sacrifice of her heart…

Enrique has never wanted a woman as he does Sancha. Determined to have her love, he woos her with exquisite passion, giving her refuge to pursue her healing in secret. But their very desire and escape from the ruthless forces of the world may be their undoing. And together, they must pit themselves against a jealous rival and archaic tradition to secure their place in a hopeful new dawn…

Interview With Nellie C. Lind

By Cynthia Sax on May 7, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Nellie C. Lind for a short interview. Nellie C. Lind’s latest release is Her Cyborg, a cyborg romance! Woot! I can’t wait to read this story!

Cynthia Sax: What makes your cyborgs sexy?

Nellie C. Lind: MedAct is the company that can help you create the perfect cyborg for you. He can be anything you want him to be, and he will love you from the moment he opens his eyes because of the bond he has with you. The bond itself is love, literally. That means he will always be there for you and defend you with his life. He will never look for another woman, and he will stay by your side for as long as you live. When you die, he will die with you because your death will break the bond, and usually, he can’t survive that. Unfortunately, a small number of cyborgs do survive a broken bond, but that is another story …

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Her Cyborg?

Nellie C. Lind: It was an idea that just came to me one day, and I started developing it after that. It’s mostly the same thing with all of my stories. Maybe because my mind is always creating stories, dialogs, and different characters. I find something good here, something good there, then I mix it together to a juice cocktail, and voila, I have a story. 🙂

Cynthia Sax: How does Her Cyborg start?

Nellie C. Lind: The story starts with the main character Phoebe and doctor Jade Silva sitting in Jade’s office. They talk about Phoebe’s unborn cyborg. They go through everything Phoebe wants her cyborg to be one final time. She needs to be sure because she can’t change her mind later on. When Phoebe is happy with the results, she confirms him for creation. Three months later, Shade’s creation is complete, and it is time for him and Phoebe to meet for the very first time.

Cynthia Sax: Is Her Cyborg part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Nellie C. Lind:
Yes, Her Cyborg, book one, is part of a series called Bound by Her. Tempted Cyborg, book 1,5 is also out now, and it is available for my mailing list subscribers. So far, I have four books ready in my head, but I plan to write more than that because there are several characters to write about. You will meet some of them in book one. I also highly recommend to read the books in order because they follow a timeline, but each story is written from a different character’s point of view. In book two, you can read about Wind and Celise, and book three, you will find out what happens to Faye and Silver.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, Nellie!

Nellie C. Lind’s Website: http://www.nellieclind.com/

*****************************************************************************

CAN’T FIND MR. RIGHT? WHY NOT CREATE HIM?

MedAct is the company that can make all your dreams come true! Just give them a call and let them create the perfect man for you. But remember, you can never give him up. It will kill him, literally.

Loneliness and failed relationships made Phoebe want a cyborg of her own. With him, she would never be heartbroken again, but getting a cyborg is not easy. So when she turned to the medical and scientific company MedAct, she never expected to become one of the few people who passed their tests to be able to apply for one.

Now, months later, his creation is complete, and they are about to come face to face for the very first time. The day she has waited for has finally arrived, and it is about to change everything.

Interview With Pippa Jay

By Cynthia Sax on May 5, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Pippa Jay for a short interview. Pippa Jay has released Quickshot, a cyborg romance (woot for cyborgs!) so you know I wanted to know all about it!

Cynthia Sax: What makes Sal and Devin so freakin’ sexy?

Pippa Jay: For me, it’s my heroine’s total confidence in herself and ability to demand what she wants from life. Meanwhile my hero has every excuse to turn and run or not keep his word, but even in the worst situation he has a strong sense of honour for paying his debts and returning a favour. He’s also cybernetically enhanced, although that doesn’t get fully explored in this story. Hey, I have to give you a reason to come back for the next one, right?

Cynthia Sax: Yes, write another cyborg story! I’m on board for that. What excites you about Quickshot?

Pippa Jay: I adore my heroine. Despite being screwed up, she’s a really strong character who’s not afraid to ask, or even demand what she wants.

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Quickshot?

Pippa Jay: It was inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy and particularly Peter Quill (I love to watch that man dance) and Gamora. My heroine started out as a female version of Starlord with a hint of Gamora, then morphed toward Zoe from Firefly (although I’m not claiming her to be a mirror image by any means). Then it pretty much took on a life of its own as my characters decided to get their way.

Cynthia Sax: You had me at Guardians of the Galaxy and Firefly and… (grins) What causes problems between Sal and Devin?

Pippa Jay:
Both have a huge amount of baggage: Sal is essentially suffering from PTSD after being betrayed, tortured, and almost worked to death on a penal planet. She has serious trust issues, especially when it comes to men, and an extremely twitchy trigger finger. Devin has secrets that have the entire galaxy in search of him, as well as some serious health issues. The cybernetic implants he relies on to keep him alive and protect him are also something that make him a social outcast, while those and his genetic alterations make him a highly desirable asset to the Imperium – the military. They have pretty much everything against them, including each other.

Cynthia Sax: Mmmm… I love outcast heroes and he’s a cyborg too. That’s a whole lot of hunky. Thank you for joining us today, Pippa!

Pippa Jay’s Website: http://pippajay.co.uk

*****************************************************************************

Sal, a legal carrier (just about) of whatever comes her way, puts her trust in just two things: her guns.

Keeping out from under Imperium eyes—especially those belonging to a certain Ehi Wahu—while making a living, and trying to keep a lover who can tolerate her twitchy trigger fingers, are the extent of her ambitions.

Then a kiss from a passing stranger, and a promise of the biggest score in a long time, tempt her. Devin fulfils more than one need, but he comes with more trouble than one woman can handle. And this time it’ll take more than her guns to save her. She’ll have to trust a man again.

Interview With Rebecca Airies

By Cynthia Sax on May 2, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Rebecca Airies for a short interview. Her latest release is Sabotaged Desires, a sexy Sci-Fi menage!

Cynthia Sax: What makes David and Robert sexy?

Rebecca Airies: Well, they’re both very handsome. David’s sexy because he’s supportive of both Robert and Susanne. He doesn’t choose sides. He’s not judgmental of either of them even though he’s been put in the middle of their arguments for days. He’s smart and alpha in a calm manner. With his training as a doctor he’s learned to be calm during stressful situations.

Robert comes off as hardnosed, at first. He’s definitely an alpha and worked his way up to his current position. He’s a man accustomed to having his orders followed. What really makes him sexy is that he can acknowledge when he’s made a mistake and apologize for something he did wrong.

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Sabotaged Desires?

Rebecca Airies: I got this idea from a writing exercise. None of the story ideas in my folder were clicking and I needed to start something new. So I did an exercise that started with the first idea that popped into my head. A woman and two men trapped in a box. What if and questions helped develop it into Sabotaged Desires.

Cynthia Sax: What causes problems between Robert, David, and Susanne?

Rebecca Airies: Robert believes that Susanne has lied/cheated to gain her position. Both Susanne and David have a difficult time getting Robert to listen. Cheating and gaining a position through something other than merit is a hot button issue for Robert because of an event in his past.

Cynthia Sax: Is Sabotaged Desires a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Rebecca Airies:
This might be a series. I’m interested in writing more about these characters and the others on the colony ship. There were several questions about what happens after this book that I’d like to know the answers to, but none of the secondary characters have stepped forward.

She isn’t surprised when they’re sequestered in a room in order to reignite the passion between them and learn to trust again.

Robert believes she betrayed him while David is stuck in the middle of their conflict. Getting Robert to talk about what made him angry is difficult, but they discover there’s far more behind their problems than a message with misleading information. A virus has overtaken the ship’s computers, put them on a different heading and cut them off from all communication. They must work together to find a way to survive and rebuild their relationship

Interview With Pippa DaCosta

By Cynthia Sax on March 16, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Pippa DaCosta for a short interview. Her latest release is Girl From Above (Books 1 – 4), a Sci-Fi Space Opera!

Cynthia Sax: What makes Caleb so super sexy?

Pippa DaCosta: Well, for one, my hero (Caleb) is about as anti-heroic as you can get. He starts out as a selfish asshat. But beneath all the swagger, the dry humor and apparent disregard for anyone but himself, he’s deeply damaged, and bears the emotional and physical scars to prove it. It’s this vulnerability that makes us root for him. As for being sexy? Who doesn’t like the rugged, against-the-odds, underdog fighting against the system kinda guys?

Cynthia Sax: I have a weakness for asshats. (grins) What is your favorite line from Girl From Above?

Pippa DaCosta: “Count the stars.” It’s something Caleb used to tell himself as a boy, when he was cornered and afraid. He passes this wisdom onto a character he cares for, and it carries through the entire series of books. “Count the stars” is about conquering your fear, but it’s also about looking for hope in the darkest of places.

Cynthia Sax: How does Girl From Above start?

Pippa DaCosta: We start as Caleb and his second in command, Fran, are desperate to depart a space port. They have a cargo hold full of illegal guns and the authorities are eyeing their ship like it’s Christmas. They believe they’re away and free, until their beloved ship develops a fault, and stalls. Caleb goes to investigate, and discovers a synthetic human alongside his shipment of guns. It’s not exactly love at first sight (the synth punches him in the balls) and he’d prefer to toss her out the airlock, but she’s got a bounty on her head, and he’s never been one to pass up an opportunity at earning some extra credits.

His day is about to get a whole lot worse.

Cynthia Sax: What makes Caleb and #1001 work as a couple?

Pippa DaCosta:
Caleb’s relationships are complicated. He’s been dying to get Fran, his second in command, in the sack since he met her, but she’s too smart to fall for his smooth-tongue. The tension and banter between these two strong-willed characters is hilarious. Bu the main romance in the series comes between Caleb and the synthetic woman, known as #1001. She’s cold, calculating, and can kill at the click of her fingers, and she terrifies Caleb. But they actually have a great deal in common. Both have pasts they’re running from, both are damaged in irrevocable ways, and while they might seem to be complete opposites, there’s a spark between them, born of much more than physical attraction.

Cynthia Sax: Does a character in Girl From Above have a secret?

Pippa DaCosta:
They all have secrets. Every single character in the series has secrets. I really can’t say what they are, but we all know secrets don’t stay secret forever, and when those secrets eat away at a close-knit tugship crew, mayhem follows.

Cynthia Sax: Is Girl From Above a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Pippa DaCosta:
Girl From Above (The 1000 Revolution) is a series. The fourth and final book is out March 4th, 2016. I don’t have any immediate plans to continue the series, but I never say never. These series has been an absolute blast to write. Bad good guys are so fascinating (and so much fun to write). I’m sure my readers will pester me until I eventually write more in this world. I certainly look forward to revisiting Caleb and his crew.
