That removes a major worry for me (and almost all writers). It also gives me an awesome emotional push to start and complete the next story!

The question ‘Would you still write if you weren’t earning income from it?’ regularly makes the rounds on social media.
It is often asked by a writer who is struggling with low or no sales. (Big hugs to them – I’ve been there, my friends.)
It is important to know that writing and publishing that writing are two VERY different things.
Writing can be a hobby. We can do it merely for funsies.
Publishing is almost always a business. As a business, publishing a book has a cost component.
Unless we have money to donate to publishing, we HAVE to make sales from it to cover these costs.
That is an unfortunate requirement.
Writers can, however, continue to write if we don’t earn income from it. Readers just wouldn’t have access to that writing. (Because publishing a story for free still has a cost component to it.)
So…most writers will continue to write even if we don’t earn money from that writing. It is dang hard to deny the muse. (grins) And writing brings many of us tremendous joy.
But we are unlikely to publish that writing. To do that, we have to, at least, cover our costs because…well…we like to eat.
