Sleeping In And LOVIN’ It!
I am NOT a morning person.
But, during outdoor gardening season, which in my part of the world usually stretches from mid April to mid November, I tend to get up at the butt crack of dawn, as I jokingly refer to it.
Because it’s preferable to water plants in the wee hours of the morning. That way, leaves can dry before the sun’s rays touch them.
During the rest of the year, I sleep in.
And it is GLORIOUS, my friends. (smiles) I snuggle under the covers with the Dear Wonderful Hubby (also not a morning person) and I dream about all the stories I might or might not write.
I wish you equally happy mornings!

Fountain Of Youth And Siblings
Spoiler Alert – This post will talk about Fountain Of Youth and it WILL contain spoilers. If you haven’t yet watched this sibling adventure movie, you might wish to skip this post.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I recently watched Fountain Of Youth, an Indiana Jones-like adventure movie featuring two siblings searching for that famed ‘miracle cure to aging’.
The siblings are MIDDLE AGED, which makes Fountain Of Youth fairly unique in the movie world.
It doesn’t make it unique in the romance novel world. (grins) We LOVE our grown siblings. The parents might often be dead but our heroes, for example, usually have gazillion of brothers all destined to find love.
Other than future story bait, siblings tend to serve another important purpose.
They show the main character can love another person and they can maintain a fairly health relationship over years.
This is a key revelation for reassuring us their new romantic relationship will last also. They will have their romantic happy ever after.
It is also fun. (grins) Siblings tend to tease even the most serious characters and they show a side of our heroes and heroines the love interest wouldn’t otherwise easily see.
Who are your favorite siblings in romances and in the movies?

Throwback Thursday – Taking Vengeance
I LOVE both writing and reading true enemies-to-lovers romances, the kind in which the two (or more) main characters are intently trying to destroy their unknown-to-them-future love interests.
Taking Vengeance is one of my favorites of all the enemies-to-lovers romances I’ve ever written.
The human heroine Astrid, the Buoir Berserker, hates all cyborgs and she is determined to kill the sexy C model attempting to land on her planet.
Vengeance finds that kind of exciting.
(grins)
Yes, he’s a true C Model. He loves battle. And his love for Astrid is as fierce.
Taking Vengeance
The only force stronger than their hate is their love.
Vengeance hates all humans. They killed every being he ever cared about. When the huge C Model cyborg is told he’s genetically compatible with the enemy, he makes it his mission to capture the female and use her to expel all humans from his home planet. That should be disappointingly easy. She’s a weak, fragile human.
Then she blows up his ship, blasting to bits his preconceived notions about the enemy.
Astrid, aka the Buoir Berserker, hates all cyborgs. They killed her entire clan, including her baby sister. The warrior female has vowed to hunt down and destroy the enemy. When a savage cyborg arrogantly puts his hard, sexy body within her reach, she does the only thing a female can do—she peppers his muscular physique with projectiles.
The more passionately they fight, the stronger their attraction becomes. Neither of them will relent on their missions, yet they can’t keep their hands off each other. Their battle will either end in love to last an eternity or in death.
Taking Vengeance is a STAND-ALONE story.
It is also an enemies-to-lovers Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, often violent universe.

Gardening Plans And Plants That Do Play Well With Others
In 2026, we’re expanding the raspberry bed. They are a perennial which makes them easier to grow, they don’t take much work, they reproduce aggressively, and I love these berries.
This expansion takes up the place where the potatoes were in 2025.
So we’re looking for another spot for the potatoes.
I was hoping to plant them under the triangular butternut squash support (which once was part of a baby crib) but I then did my research and potatoes and squash don’t play well together. They attract the same pests, they are both heavy feeders, and the squash tends to smother the potatoes.
Which means the search for a new potato spot continues!
While planning your garden, research which of your desired plants play together well…or not-so-well. This will greatly increase your success rate!

Being Green On St. Patrick’s Day
I always read a romance with a green cover on St. Patrick’s Day.
It is a fun way to celebrate and I like to think it brings me a little bit of good luck.
(smiles)
The best green-themed Cynthia Sax story is Being Green. It’s currently FREE. It features a cyborg named Green. It’s short and sweet. And it has a green cover.
I hope reading Being Green gives you a little bit of good luck also, my friends!
(big hugs)
Green, a cyborg warrior, cares for one being—his plant Windy. When Windy becomes sick, he’ll do anything to heal her, even venture across the universe to visit a worlds-renowned plant doctor.
He doesn’t expect to find love.
Doctor Shelby Cooper is the sole resident of a tiny planet. She prefers to be alone rather than risk caring for another being and then losing him. The curvaceous scientist is determined to resist Green’s patient caresses, his thought-burning kisses, his slow seduction.
She has underestimated the power of a cyborg’s passion.

Muse Food – Mechanical Horses And Other Surprises
I think my cyborgs would love this mechanical horse. They would definitely try to ride her. (grins)
I love it because it is a surprise. Of all the things to create out of gears and metal, I would have never expected a horse.
Because horses are purely organic. And they are a transportation means from older times. The purely mechanical car replaced them for many people.
Give your readers a happy surprise or two in your stories also. Give them that wonder.
(smiles)

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – March 15
I’m back from my writing break and I’m rested and eager to start writing again. (smiles) I did a lot of dreaming, a lot of mental plotting, a lot of…sleeping. It was glorious.
I have one more chapter to complete in the first draft of the fifth installment of the Super Secret Project. Then I will move into the second draft. I love this story, my friends. It is so much fun to write!
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) It is St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday. Wear something green. Eat something green (lettuce is great but green cupcakes are even better – grins). Read a romance with a green cover. Have fun with the day!
Cyborg Sizzle Escape Omnibus
Half Man. Half Machine. All Theirs.
* * *
While these cyborg warriors battle to escape their cruel manufacturers, they find the human females they are destined to love for all eternity.
This omnibus includes the first seven stories in the Cyborg Sizzle series: Releasing Rage, Breathing Vapor, Being Green, Crash And Burn, Defying Death, Chasing Mayhem and Jumping Barrel.
All of these Cyborg Romances are set in a dark, gritty, often violent universe.
Releasing Rage
Rage, the Humanoid Alliance’s most primitive cyborg, has two goals–kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that’s all he’s been programmed to experience.
Until he meets Joan.
Breathing Vapor
Vapor is the most advanced cyborg the Humanoid Alliance has ever developed. He’s a finely honed weapon, a warrior without parallel, half man and half machine. No lock can contain him. No being can stop him. Whatever he wants, he takes.
He wants Mira Breazeal, the Designer’s daughter.
Being Green
Green, a cyborg warrior, cares for one being—his plant Windy. When Windy becomes sick, he’ll do anything to heal her, even venture across the universe to visit a worlds-renowned plant doctor.
He doesn’t expect to find love.
Crash And Burn
Crash was manufactured to be one of the best warriors in the universe. The cyborg has spent many human lifespans fighting the enemy. But, unlike his battle-loving brethren, he doesn’t enjoy killing. When he escapes the Humanoid Alliance, he vows to never end another life.
Then he meets Safyre, an infuriating human female, and he considers breaking his vow.
Defying Death
Cyborgs don’t show emotion. Death learned that lesson early in his long lifespan. To survive, he hides his fierce passions behind a stoic wall. He calls no warrior friend. He never admits to caring for any being.
Even the human female he’s destined to love.
Chasing Mayhem
Mayhem has spent his lengthy lifespan obeying the Humanoid Alliance’s rules. Finally free from their cruel control, the cyborg warrior plans to cause chaos. He infiltrates a remote settlement, provokes the savage locals until they want him dead, and allows himself to be captured by the sexiest little Retriever he has ever laid his mechanically-enhanced eyes on.
Jumping Barrel
Barrel requires an Expert for the Tau Cetian orphans. He’s looking for a female who is willing to commit to a lifespan-long role, who is comfortable with moving off planet, and who, preferably, has the ability to speak the offsprings’ first language.
His female, however, is looking for a hero.

Excuse Me, Sir. Are You Missing Any Spoons?
One night recently, the Dear Wonderful Hubby and I had the honor of having dinner in a restaurant next to a family.
This family had a cute little 4 year old named Maria.
Maria received a plush doggy in a tiny purse-like carrier. She hung this combo from the crook of her arm like she was a little old lady going to church.
While her family was busy chatting and laughing, Maria quietly went from empty table to empty table, collecting all the spoons (and only spoons) from the place settings.
She slipped these spoons from one to one into her plush doggy carrier.
By the time the family left, Maria must have gathered at least 30 spoons.
I grin when I envision the restaurant workers wondering where all the spoons went.
And I grin when I envision Maria’s parents finding her hoard of spoons and then having to return those spoons to the restaurant.
Maria is pure chaos and I love that.

Roofman And Lying Heroes
Spoiler Alert – This post will talk about Roofman and it WILL contain spoilers. If you haven’t yet watched this based-on-real-life movie, you might wish to skip this post.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I recently watched Roofman, a movie based on a real-life thief and…it was okay. I wouldn’t watch it again.
It has a romance storyline but this movie does NOT have a romantic happy ever after or happy for now ending.
Because the hero is a liar.
He isn’t an inadvertent liar or a forced-to-tell-a-lie-and-has-a-great-reason-for-doing-so truth bender. We often forgive those type of lying heroes in romance novels, especially if they are shown to be honest and trustworthy in all other situations and, they are truthful, in the future, with their love interest.
Writers have to work hard to redeem lying heroes.
The hero of Roofman isn’t working hard at anything. He definitely isn’t trying to be redeemed. I suspect he doesn’t even believe lying is wrong.
He lies about almost everything, has a history of lying and shows no willingness to tell the truth in the future. He also walks away from his wife and kids, steals…constantly, and deceives everyone around him.
So no, he doesn’t deserve a happy ending and he doesn’t get one.
Ensure your lying romance hero or heroine deserves their romantic happy ending.

Throwback Thursday – Warlord Reunited
Berke, the alien Warlord hero of Warlord Reunited, is an eldest brother and he takes his responsibilities, especially the duty of protecting others, extremely seriously.
He willingly sacrifices his own happiness and health to ensure his gerel, his human fated mate, is safeguarded.
Elle, his gerel, doesn’t know this.
And she is very, VERY angry about the tactics he has undertaken to protect her.
Killing-levels of angry.
(grins)
Warlord Reunited
This barbarian warrior’s cold demeanor hides the warmest of hearts.
* * *
Solar cycles ago, Berke, a savage Chamele Warlord, found his gerel, the one being he is destined to be with for all time…except he couldn’t embrace that fate. He was fighting a series of brutal wars.
To protect his little human female, he conveyed her far from the Chamele sector. He then returned to the endless battles, concealing his pain, his anguish, his need, under a thick layer of ice.
His gerel was safe. That was all that mattered to him.
When Elle was a young bounty hunter, she bonded with an arrogant warrior on a distant planet. She was deliriously happy…for a while. Then he dumped her in a strange settlement far from his home and left, never to return.
Their parting caused her excruciating pain—both physical and emotional. She endured it, earned the esteemed role of head bounty hunter of an academy, salvaged a bit of a life from the disaster her primitive warrior had made of it.
Now, two of her bounty hunters have made the same terrible mistake. Elle is determined to rescue her friends and break their connections with their Chamele Warlords.
While she is in the sector, she plans to kill the warrior she’d once considered hers. Elle is ending her relationship with Berke…permanently.

Warlord Reunited is based on a much shorter story sharing the same title.
It is a STANDALONE Alien Barbarian SciFi Romance featuring a warrior hero and a take-charge heroine set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.
