Love Is A Safe Space
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I fell in love at first sight and many decades later, we are still very much in love.
People have asked me how I knew it was love.
My answer usually is…if you wonder whether or not it is love, it likely isn’t love.
When you experience it, you KNOW.
But the big tip was…I immediately felt safe with him.
He felt like the home, the sanctuary I never had. I could relax with him. I could TRUST him.
And this was unprecedented for me as I rarely feel safe. Anywhere. With anyone.
I grew up a daughter of abuse and I have been betrayed and hurt far too much to ever trust easily.
Yet I trusted the (now) Dear Wonderful Hubby. I knew he wouldn’t hurt me.
(I still didn’t let down my guard for years after meeting him because…well…I didn’t even trust myself or my own judgment and I didn’t think someone could be as nice as the Dear Wonderful Hubby truly is.)
My trust in the Dear Wonderful Hubby was also unusual because, while the Dear Wonderful Hubby is a very kind man, he doesn’t seem like a safe person when people first meet him. He’s very physical (is never still) and often sarcastic and fairly…intense.
But my soul knew. And eventually my brain figured this out also.
Love is a safe space.
If you don’t feel safe, you likely don’t feel love.
And you deserve to feel love, my friends. (big hugs)

Do What Makes You Happy
A dear loved one still has her Christmas lights up inside her home.
Yes, at the end of February.
These Christmas lights make her so very happy. And having them up doesn’t hurt anyone.
So why not keep them up?
Happiness is precious. If something makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone else, embrace it!
The people who love you, once they know it makes you happy, will be happy for you.
The other people…well…they don’t have the good sense to love you so clearly their opinion isn’t worth much, is it?

Throwback Thursday – Warlord Unarmed
Gale, the human bounty hunter heroine of Warlord Unarmed, is…well…some unkind beings might call her a hoarder but she prefers to think of herself as a collector.
She collects broken items loved ones have discarded.
She was discarded as a child because she was ‘broken’ and doesn’t want that to happen to anything or anyone else.
Murad, the tech-loving alien barbarian hero, would be quite happy if Gale collected him.

Warlord Unarmed
Protected by the Barbarian Warrior
* * *
Murad, a technology-loving Chamele Warlord, has to track down and eliminate a rogue warrior before that male ends Murad’s reign. Permanently.
When a pieced-together wreck of a ship enters the sector without authorization, Murad assumes it is piloted by an ally of his enemy and decides to blow the battered vessel out of open space.
Then he hears the voice of its sole occupant and his orders and his priorities immediately shift. The captain of the ship is his gerel, the one female he’s genetically compatible with—the light to his darkness, his future, his everything.
He will protect her…even if it costs him his life.
Bounty hunter Gale doesn’t want or need protection. She has entered Chamele space on a rescue mission. A tall, muscular, half-naked barbarian with humor-lit eyes and gentle hands won’t distract her from that purpose, no matter what he tries.
A broken ship and an enemy focused on revenge do interfere with her plans. Gale’s goal changes from saving a friend to saving herself. The only being who can increase her chances of survival is the one Warlord she can’t resist.

Gardening – Know Your Last Expected Frost Date
If we start seeds too early, seedlings will be too large to care for inside the greenhouse/home and/or be difficult to transplant outside.
If we start seeds too late, seedlings will be too small to transplant outside when the good weather arrives.
This is why knowing our last expected frost date is key for gardeners in cold-during-the-winter climates. We use that estimate of when our last frost date is and then count backward to determine when we should be starting seeds.
To find out what your last expected frost date is, do an internet search on ‘last expected frost date (your city)’ and then choose a reputable result from sites like the farmer’s almanac or a seed selling company that have that information.

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby Featured On Veronica Scott’s Need Of More Love Post
Woot!
The always awesome Veronica Scott asked me which of my stories I believed deserved more love.
This is what I said
“THE CYBORG’S SECRET BABY is one of the most emotional stories I’ve ever written. This cyborg romance has sacrifice and loss, laughter and love. It also unfortunately has, as one much beloved reader shared, “a very silly title.”

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby
A fierce cyborg warrior and his curvy human female share a no-longer-so-little secret.
Stealth, a K Model cyborg, knows his passion for Zebrina, the commander’s human daughter, is forbidden, yet he can’t resist the curvy female. He craves her touch, cherishes her sounds of pleasure, would do anything to keep her safe.
When he’s faced with the choice of protecting his fragile human or living to see the next sunrise, he chooses her, always her, sending Zebrina halfway across the universe to safety. He doesn’t realize their stolen moments had consequences neither of them believed possible.
After hearing her warrior died in battle, Zebrina focuses on the last gift he gave her. Doing what is right for their child is her sole priority. She will put their son’s happiness first, even if that means choosing another male over the love of her life.
The Cyborg’s Secret Baby is a STAND-ALONE story loosely connected to the Cyborg Sizzle series.
It is also a Second Chance Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, often-violent universe.

Muse Food – Dinosaurs And The Remains We Display
What happens to the remnants of beings and other living things after they die tells us a lot about the world we live in, the beliefs, the culture, the priorities.
Why do many humans in North America believe it is okay to display human corpses from ancient Egyptian times (i.e. mummies) but it isn’t okay to display the corpse of a celebrity who died last year?
Why do displays of bones from dinosaurs draw crowds yet the fossilized plant life from the same period is rarely even displayed?
How are the remnants of beings and other formerly living things treated in the world you’re writing or reading about? What does that say about that world?

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – February 22
I’m taking a little writing break right now. I find it beneficial to pause and dream and think about next stories, in this case, the next installments of the Super Secret Project.
It also allows me some space to go back to the previous story and add some more details. Yes, I’m certain that drives my editor up the wall.
(grins)
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Perhaps take some time this week to think about where you are and where you want to go. Take your bearings. Ensure you’re pointed in the direction of a place in life you want to be. And that you are happy. (more hugs) You deserve happiness!
Cyborg Sizzle Escape Omnibus
Half Man. Half Machine. All Theirs.
* * *
While these cyborg warriors battle to escape their cruel manufacturers, they find the human females they are destined to love for all eternity.
This omnibus includes the first seven stories in the Cyborg Sizzle series: Releasing Rage, Breathing Vapor, Being Green, Crash And Burn, Defying Death, Chasing Mayhem and Jumping Barrel.
All of these Cyborg Romances are set in a dark, gritty, often violent universe.
Releasing Rage
Rage, the Humanoid Alliance’s most primitive cyborg, has two goals–kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that’s all he’s been programmed to experience.
Until he meets Joan.
Breathing Vapor
Vapor is the most advanced cyborg the Humanoid Alliance has ever developed. He’s a finely honed weapon, a warrior without parallel, half man and half machine. No lock can contain him. No being can stop him. Whatever he wants, he takes.
He wants Mira Breazeal, the Designer’s daughter.
Being Green
Green, a cyborg warrior, cares for one being—his plant Windy. When Windy becomes sick, he’ll do anything to heal her, even venture across the universe to visit a worlds-renowned plant doctor.
He doesn’t expect to find love.
Crash And Burn
Crash was manufactured to be one of the best warriors in the universe. The cyborg has spent many human lifespans fighting the enemy. But, unlike his battle-loving brethren, he doesn’t enjoy killing. When he escapes the Humanoid Alliance, he vows to never end another life.
Then he meets Safyre, an infuriating human female, and he considers breaking his vow.
Defying Death
Cyborgs don’t show emotion. Death learned that lesson early in his long lifespan. To survive, he hides his fierce passions behind a stoic wall. He calls no warrior friend. He never admits to caring for any being.
Even the human female he’s destined to love.
Chasing Mayhem
Mayhem has spent his lengthy lifespan obeying the Humanoid Alliance’s rules. Finally free from their cruel control, the cyborg warrior plans to cause chaos. He infiltrates a remote settlement, provokes the savage locals until they want him dead, and allows himself to be captured by the sexiest little Retriever he has ever laid his mechanically-enhanced eyes on.
Jumping Barrel
Barrel requires an Expert for the Tau Cetian orphans. He’s looking for a female who is willing to commit to a lifespan-long role, who is comfortable with moving off planet, and who, preferably, has the ability to speak the offsprings’ first language.
His female, however, is looking for a hero.

Send A Note To A Loved One
It is the end of February, usually a very dark time for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Some of your loved ones are feeling this darkness also.
Consider sending them a note, either snail mail, email, message, or some other way.
Consider it even more if this loved one commented on the Holiday Card you sent them in 2025. That was a ‘request’ for more letters, more communications, more love from you.
The note doesn’t have to be long. It could simply say, “I was thinking of you today and I wanted you to know you are loved.” or it could simply be a sharing of a very bad pun. (grins)
The important thing is…
Our loved ones feel loved.

Madame Web And Caring About Characters
Spoiler Alert – This post will talk about Madame Web and it WILL contain spoilers. If you haven’t yet watched this superhero origin story movie, you might wish to skip this post.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I both watched Madame Web, a superhero movie set in the not-so-distant past. I was excited for this movie as it features a group of female superheroes! Yay!
But it was…challenged. In many different ways.
The key one being…
I didn’t care about most of the characters, including the heroine, the future Madame Web.
And I believe this has to do with how they were presented to us.
For example, we see Cassie Web, the heroine, saving a life in her job as a paramedic. But she does this coldly, without emotion, like it is merely part of her job and nothing more.
Then we see her being cold and dang mean to innocent little kids wanting to thank her for saving their beloved daddy.
Sure, later, we see her feeding a stray cat. But our first impression of her is already set by then.
And that first impression is NOT good.
I disliked her. Intensely.
The irony is…
A two minute ‘scene’ would have flipped that for me. All the director had to do was show Cassie’s internal struggle. Show her talking to herself, telling herself to not get emotionally involved, to not feel for others, to not risk being hurt.
Then have a flicker of caring, of softness in Cassie’s demeanor when she is thanked by the kid before she pulls herself back into her cold emotional shield. Let the coldness be a struggle, not her natural personality.
We have to like SOMETHING about main characters. Remember that when writing tough-to-like heroines and heroes.

Throwback Thursday – Ghost Of A Machine
Ghost is one of my all time favorite heroes. This C Model Cyborg with a special gift (he would call it a curse) is severely broken.
When Lethe, the human heroine, meets up with him other beings might say he’s beyond saving. He’s violent and non-verbal and operating on a pure primitive instincts.
Those instincts are telling him to protect Lethe, claim her, never let her go.
Fragile. Stubborn. His.
Ghost, a C Model cyborg, has disconnected his machine from his human side. Severely damaged, he knows two things—the curvy human female on his ship belongs to him and he must keep her safe. He’ll stop at nothing to protect her, claim her, make her his.
Primitive. Damaged. Hers.
Lethe has seen the savage side of beings. The courageous Rebel captain has never met a male like Ghost. Overpoweringly dominant, he appeals to her on a primal level, filling her mind with thoughts of sweet surrender, hard kisses, and body-heating encounters against the warship’s walls.
They are two broken beings, one determined to protect, the other intent on flying into danger. Can love heal them both before they face their common enemy?
Ghost Of A Machine is Book 9 in the Cyborg Sizzle series and is a STAND-ALONE story.
It is also a BBW Cyborg SciFi Romance.
