Hiking In Ålesund, Norway
When the Dear Wonderful Hubby and I were in Ålesund, Norway, we hiked to the top of Mount Aksla.
It is a fairly easy climb. There are well set paths and wide steps.
And the views are amazing. (smiles)
We could see in all directions. We also saw birds and bees and a couple butterflies.

Muse Food – Feathers, Rocks And Contrast
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted this feather while we were trekking around Iceland.
The contrasts drew our gazes – the white against the dark, the softness of the feather against the hard, hard stone.
We, humans, have evolved to notice contrasts. It is a survival tactic. If something appears out of place, that something could be a threat…or an opportunity.
We notice it in stories also – the tall stern hero with the shorter smiley heroine, the gunfighter in a field of flowers, the kitten on the battlefield, the laugh at a funeral.
Use the power of contrasts to add interest and excitement to your stories.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – September 28
I continue to have fun with my secret writing project. (smiles) It is giving me so much joy.
I’m also working on re-releasing some previously published stories. I like the idea of having them once again out there in the world. Hopefully they’ll give reading buddies some joy. They certainly gave me joy rereading them.

B Free
B is the last remaining B Model cyborg. All of his brethren, the beings he trained with, fought with, cared deeply for, have perished.
Or so he believes.
When he intercepts a communication mentioning the existence of one of his kind, he has to investigate its source. The message could be a trap set by his enemies. He’ll take that risk if it secures him the companionship he requires to be fully functional.

She doesn’t trust him. And she doesn’t have time to indulge her desires.
Their shared enemies are chasing them, would kill to get their precious specimens back. One minor mistake could reduce B and Quinn to a mere line in the databases of history.

Compliment Yourself Today
When I’m looking for an easy and quick way to spread joy, I will often compliment a stranger. I will tell a stressed-out young mom that I love her blouse. I will tell a grumpy old guy that he has a great hat. I will tell a cashier at the grocery store that she’s doing an amazing job.
This never fails to make people a little bit happier.
And if it gives other people joy, think of how it will make YOU feel.
Look in the mirror and tell yourself you’re going a good job. You got through the day and that’s truly the only task that matters. Tell yourself you’re strong. Tell yourself you have a beautiful heart. Tell yourself you are loved.
Because you are all of those things. And you deserve to hear that!

Covers For Re-Releases
I’ll be re-releasing some previously published stories, mostly under the C.S. Sax name as they aren’t SciFi Romances.
I’m crafting the covers for these re-releases. This brings the break-even point lower for them. It saves my cover artist time. It gives me flexibility.
And it’s fun.

The images have all been taken by the Dear Wonderful Hubby. I like that. And he does also.
The covers will be man titty free so you and other readers can determine at a glance that they’re re-releases.
The lack of man titty also means I won’t be placing any cover models in possible danger during these…unsettled times. I like that also. It ensures I can republish these stories with a clear conscience.
Plus have I mentioned that it’s fun?

Throwback Thursday – Raw Desires
Raw Desires is a true enemies-to-lovers romance. Taytu, the heroine, is sincerely trying to kill Raw, the hero.
But he’s a cyborg and his kind are extremely hard to kill.
Taytu is also his genetic match. And he is greatly enjoying their courting.

Taytu isn’t jumping anywhere. She has one mission—kill every cyborg in existence.
The huge, handsome male traveling to meet with her is her first target. His rough hands, firm lips, and sparkling, energy-infused eyes won’t save him from her vengeance. She has trained vigorously for this moment, and she won’t fail at her assigned task.

Haiku may now be safe, but Dante’s heart has been put in jeopardy.

Storing And Reusing Potting Soil
Potting/container soil can be quite costly. It is also bulky and an all around pain in the a$$ to buy.
The good news is…
Soil can be reused! For years!
I have two main ‘rules’ regarding container soil.
Soil that goes outside stays outside. There are a gazillion microbes and insects and insect eggs in healthy soil. You don’t want to bring those little creatures inside your home.
And
If the plants grown in it were diseased or pest-attacked or stunted in any way, that soil isn’t directly reused. It is either put in the compost bin for a refresh or I’ll use it to build up the ground in non-vegetable-growing areas.
All other soil is stored over the winter and reused the next year.
Last year I stored the outside soil in a huge cardboard box. Which would have worked well except…squirrels. They decided there must be something awesome in the box and clawed it to bits. (shakes head) The box barely held together.
This year, I saved the bags from any soil we purchased. These bags are extremely thick. I plan to close them with rubber/elastic bands and store them under the deck. And…I’ll hope for the best.
Many gardeners store their soil in the containers they used for growing or they use plastic totes/bins or garbage bins. Some even use old kiddie pools with a tarp placed over them.
The next year, I’ll ‘refresh’ the soil with a little bit of compost before I reuse it.
And I’m good to go. I’ve saved money, time AND hassle.

Assassin’s Haiku: A Dystopian Romance From C.S. Sax Is ReReleased
Assassin’s Haiku is one of my favorite early stories. It features a genetically enhanced assassin hero and a very human poet heroine.
I republished Assassin’s Haiku because I really wanted it out there in the world. It is SUCH a good story.
And I republished it under the C.S. Sax name because it isn’t technically SciFi Romance (or Contemporary Romance).
But I think reading buddies who enjoyed Breathing Vapor (or Releasing Rage) will likely enjoy Assassin’s Haiku.

Visiting A Botanical Garden In Akureyri, Iceland
Akureyri, Iceland is a fairly small and extremely walkable town.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spent a good portion of our time there exploring the Botanical Gardens, which are absolutely gorgeous.
There were so many flowers and many were bright colors like vivid purples or deep blues. The bees were buzzing. The birds were singing.
There were displays of older farming equipment like tractors placed throughout the gardens. And charming little buildings.
It is well worth a visit.
