Power like that doesn’t appear out of thin air. It comes from something.
We learn in Drift Would that an even more powerful weapon is being manufactured on Cancri B. The power for that weapon comes from a substance found deep within the planet. It was likely stored there during the creation of Cancri B.
That energy had to go somewhere.
It is…fitting, I guess you would say, that the substance that created the planet now has the ability to destroy it.
