Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – May 21
I’m still puttering around with the first few chapters of Intrepid Encounter, the fifth core story in the Cyborg Unity series (likely releasing in November). I’m getting to know both Intrepid and his Valkyrie better and I’m playing with scenes, figuring out the best way to introduce you to these two dynamic beings.
Strive For Forever, the fourth core story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in July), remains with my Awesome Editor. I’m expecting the first round of edits at the end of the month.

Writing And Trust
This wonderful writing business revolves around trust.
I trust, for example, that my Awesome Cover Artist is using either her own photos or stock photos she has purchased. That’s what we agreed and, as far as I know, she has stayed true to her word.
My Awesome Editor trusts, as another example, that I’ve written the stories I’ve sent her. They are all my own bizarre thoughts and wild sentences (laughs).
I keep that in mind when bad things involving business partners of other writers arise. I assume those writers trust their cover artists and editors and other business partners as much as I trust mine. I don’t assume they ‘knew’ because it most likely hadn’t even crossed their minds.
We are all functioning on trust in this wonderful business. And trust is fragile.

Next Book Pressure
Writers were talking online about the pressure to produce a great follow up book in a beloved series.
No writer wants to disappoint readers (big hugs). We want the next book to be as loved as the previously book. And that produces tremendous stress on us…which, ironically, often hurts our ability to write anything at all.
The way I deal with this pressure is to write the next book before the current book releases.
For me, putting that one book distance between me and the latest release eases my tension. The follow up book has already been written. There’s nothing I can do about it. All I can do is push on.
And I do exactly that, keeping one book ahead of the release. (smiles)

The Last One To Find Love
Strive For Forever, the fourth core story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in July), is currently with my Awesome Editor.
Strive is the last cyborg in his friend group of three to find his genetic match. I always have a special place in my heart for the last hero or heroine in a group to find love. They’re surrounded by happy couples (or more). They’re romantically alone. And they wonder if they’ll ALWAYS be romantically alone.
That’s a tough place to be. I’ve been that solo single in the past. I know how that feels.

Find Your Happy Place
The world can be a bit…much lately. Changes are occurring and not all of them are positive.
I highly recommend all of us find our happy places.
And these happy places can be different for everyone.
One of my happy places is the garden or any type of plant. When I’m feeling stressed or upset or unhappy, I go and find a plant. This could be a dandelion growing between the cracks in the pavement or one of the snake plants in the living room or some other green growing thing. When I find that plant, I sit down and I look at it for while. If I can, I touch the soil or the leaves. This usually calms my wild a$$ down.
One of the Dear Wonderful Hubby’s happy places is vacation planning. He chooses a destination and then he plots out an imaginary or real vacation for us. He watches all the videos, looks at all the flights, even explores the restaurants we might eat at. That makes him happy.
Figure out what your happy place is. And go there when the world gets overly stressful.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – May 14
I barely started Intrepid Encounter, the fifth core story in the Cyborg Unity series (likely releasing in November), this week. (sheepish grin) I have a few words on the screen. I don’t know if I’ll keep them or if it is the right place to start the story.
This is normal for me. The first two chapters (one from the hero’s point of view, one from the heroine’s point of view) are the most difficult for me to craft. There is always quite a bit of writing and then deleting.
Strive For Forever, the fourth core story in the Cyborg Unity series, is with my Awesome Editor. I expect to get first round of edits back by the end of the month. Ohhhh…I hope she likes it!

My eBooks Are Available On Kobo Plus!
All of my cyborg and alien romances (and most of my contemporary romances) are now available through Kobo Plus, Kobo’s subscription service! Woot!
That means, if you have Kobo Plus, you can read all those stories at no additional cost.
One of the things I love about Kobo Plus is it doesn’t demand exclusivity. My eBooks can still be available everywhere else, including public libraries (librarians will usually order my eBooks if you ask them to do that).
Kindle Unlimited, in contrast, demands exclusivity. I couldn’t work with libraries or Apple or Kobo or other booksellers. That’s why my eBooks aren’t, as of now, enrolled in that program. I will ALWAYS support libraries.

Genetic Matches As A Friend Group
Grin, Raw and Strive, the heroes or Bare And Grin Him, Raw Desires and Strive For Forever (releasing in July), are best friends.
Does that mean their genetic matches will be friends?
Not necessarily. But it does increase the odd of that happening (which is EXACTLY what happens). The same aspects their cyborgs love in their females might result in them liking each other. And they have a huge thing in common – they all love cyborgs. (grins)
