If You Wish To Re-Read Stories…
You should be able to read Raw Desires (releasing on Tuesday or, if you’ve pre-ordered it, Monday night) on its own. Sure, it is the third story in the series but I think a new-to-the-series reader can pick it up and enjoy it.
However, if you wish to re-read some stories, I would suggest, of course, starting with the first two stories in the series (Provoking Odium and Grin And Bare Him).
Seizing Power is a great story to re-read also. Eirene Ours aka Cadet appears in the first chapter of Raw Desires.
Malice and Illona from Containing Malice make an appearance.
A Retriever also shows up. So Chasing Mayhem is another great story to re-read.
Yep. (grins) Quite a few stories tie into Raw Desires. And I LOVE that.

Throwback Thursday – Breathing Vapor
Breathing Vapor is the second story in my first published cyborg series and it has a bit of a different feel from Releasing Rage, the first story.
The main reason for this is…Rage is a C Model, one of the earliest cyborg models developed, and Vapor is a K Model, one of the most advanced cyborg models developed. They are at different ends of the evolutionary spectrum.
And I wanted to show that. I wanted to show the vast differences between the cyborg models.
I also love Vapor and I love Mira, his curvy human female target…and destined genetic match. They are awesome on their own but they are especially wonderful together.
Breathing Vapor
Vapor is the most advanced cyborg the Humanoid Alliance has ever developed. He’s a finely honed weapon, a warrior without parallel, half man and half machine. No lock can contain him. No being can stop him. Whatever he wants, he takes.
He wants Mira Breazeal, the Designer’s daughter.
She’s his one temptation, his sexy target. Vapor shouldn’t crave her caresses, steal her kisses, make her scream with ecstasy. The cyborgs want her dead and they would question his loyalty if he didn’t kill her. The humans would shoot him on sight if he dared to touch her.
Their love is forbidden. Their desire could be lethal. One human and one cyborg will risk everything for a moment of passion.

UFOs And Other News
Strange objects have been blasted out of the skies all around the world recently.
Were they UFOs?
Yes. Absolutely. They were definitely Unidentified Flying Objects (at least, initially).
Were they from another planet?
THAT is unknown to the general public at this time. A couple years ago, while many of us were distracted by the (ongoing) pandemic, the US Government admitted to having detected alien visits. And there is NO doubt in my mind life exists on other planets.
The UFOs COULD have come from space.
If I wanted to determine if the inhabitants of another planet were peaceful or not, I would send down a highly visible crew-less disposable ‘probe’ (grins) and then watch what the locals did with that probe.
Or the UFOs could have originated from THIS planet. (shrugs) We don’t know…yet.

Muse Food – Hearts And Love Locks
One of the (many) things I enjoy adding to my stories is symbolism.
Taytu, from Raw Desires, as an example, tends to touch her wrist decoration when she is thinking of her mother. The wrist decoration is a symbol of her mother and her culture.
The heart shape we currently attributed to romantic love is a symbol also. There are some heated (grins) discussions about the origin of the heart shape but we do KNOW it isn’t the shape of the heart in our chests. The heart shape has been used by so many people for so long, at this point of our existence, that it is viewed by many of us to represent love.
Love locks, as seen above on Punda Love Heart near the Queen Emma Bridge in Willemstad, Curaçao, also symbolize love. The lock conveys that this love is unbreakable. It is lasting.
Symbolism can really strengthen a story. I love using it!

Raw Desires – Fourth Scene Of The First Chapter

The female cyborg’s gaze met hers.
Son of rock spider. Taytu froze in place. She’d been spotted.
It made no sense to hide from them now. They knew where she was.
She took a deep breath and stepped out from behind the panel. Her left hand was free. She held the detonator in her right palm.
The male cyborgs pointed their guns at her.
She tapped the detonator once, twice. Her body shook. This action had to be taken. This sacrifice had to be made.
For Fana, for her mom, for justice.
“Don’t be scared, little human.” The female cyborg holstered her guns. “We won’t hurt you.”
She held out her empty hands.
The male cyborgs also put away their weapons, leaving themselves defenseless and vulnerable.
Because they didn’t think she was a threat.
Taytu didn’t know whether to be relieved or insulted.
“There’s a 98.2563 percent probability she doesn’t speak the universal language.” One of the males shook his head. “The locals didn’t trade excessively with other beings.”
Taytu did speak the universal language. She had learned it at the academy.
But she said nothing because pretending she didn’t know what they were saying might give her a strategic advantage.
“She’s very small.” A second male tilted his head and studied her. “She might be offspring.”
They thought she was a child. It was a struggle for Taytu to conceal her disgust.
“She has breasts.” The female cyborg’s tone was dry.
“She’s very dirty.” The first male sniffed the air. “And she smells.”
“We only detected three lifeforms on the planet—two cyborgs and one human.” The female cyborg was clearly the leader. She was also the most intelligent being in the group. “She’s alone. There’s a 99.9999 percent probability she hasn’t seen another being since the Humanoid Alliance withdrew their forces from here. We’re fortunate she’s alive.”
They wouldn’t feel fortunate when she blew them all up.
Taytu tapped the detonator a third time.
“I’ve downloaded the files for the locals’ language.” The female cyborg’s gaze remained locked with hers. “You are safe with us.” She said that in very formal, very stiff Abeban. “We will not damage you.”
They might not plan to damage her. Taytu narrowed her eyes at them. But she planned to damage them. Her finger hovered over the detonator’s button.
“You are the genetic match for one of our warriors.” The female cyborg was talking pure idiocy.
They were the enemy, were the most senselessly violent beings in the universe. There was no fuckin’ way she was a genetic match for any of them.
“If you agree, we will transport you to our home planet.” The female cyborg surprised her with that offer. “You will be protected there. There is nourishment on our planet and beverage and others of your kind.”
There were no others of her kind. They were all dead. The female cyborg’s kind had killed them.
“There are also cleaning cloths.” One of the males said that in the universal language.
The female cyborg cast a hard glance at him, and his smile faded.
“It is your decision.” Her attention returned to Taytu. “But if you stay here, there is an 86.1258 percent probability you will die.”
There was a 100.0000 percent probability she’d die.
Because she had planned to blow herself up when she decimated them.
Though perhaps doing that now wasn’t the best use of her one lifespan.
Taytu shifted her gaze from cyborg to cyborg. There were three of them standing before her. And two cyborgs were sealed in the downed warship.
The female cyborg had offered to transport her to the cyborgs’ home planet. More enemy warriors would be situated there. She could target an entire structure occupied by male cyborgs.
And she liked the idea of striking out at her foes on their home planet. It was a place where they felt they were safe, where they believed no one would ever harm them.
As her family, her friends had thought they were safe, living peacefully on Yebeti Abeba.
Taytu slid the detonator into her pocket.
“I will go with you.” Her voice rasped with emotion.
She would pretend to be their warrior’s genetic match, would feign gratitude over being rescued. The cyborgs would lower their guard and start to trust her.
Then she would kill as many of them as she could manage.
Her loved ones would be avenged. She would meet her mom, dad, brothers, sisters, others—including baby Fana, in the land beyond.
It would be a good end.

Preparing For Water Fluctuations
The planet is getting warmer.
Warm air holds more moisture. The air sucks up the water from the planet’s surface. When that happens, we get drought.
Then, eventually, it returns all that water to the planet. When that happens, we get flooding.
This will happen more and more. It will be feast or famine water-wise now and in the future.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are doing our best to prepare for these two possibilities.
We ensured flood damage was included in our house insurance.
We’re banking the house with soil this summer (the soil will be obtained for free from pool installation businesses and land developers), ensuring the land around our house slopes downward.
We will likely install more rain barrels to deal with possible droughts.
We’ll cover the tomato/bell pepper garden with leaf mulch to retain moisture.
We’re looking into ways to reduce our water consumption and to reuse the water we do utilize.
It is like a big real life science experiment. (smiles)

Raw Desires And Taytu’s Wrist Decoration
Taytu, the heroine of Raw Desires (releasing on February 21st!), wears a wrist decoration. This family heirloom consists of braided vegetation and tiny carved stones.
Each stone represents a value of her culture.
The blue stone in a shape of a knot, as an example, represents forgiveness, one of Taytu’s kind’s core values.
A knot is a symbol of peacemaking, pacification, and reconciliation within the Ghanaian culture here on Earth. The knot, or Mpatapo, as they call their specific symbol, binds the two opposing parties, bringing them together.
Blue is also often associated, here on Earth, with forgiveness and harmony. I DO find if I wear blue, I tend to experience a bit more peace. That might be merely my perception, however. (grins)

Throwback Thursday – Dark Thoughts
Dark Thoughts is one of my favorite stories I’ve ever told.
Kralj is tall, dark and scarred. He is a bit…menacing. He likes to literally EAT his enemies and not in a sexy way. His powers are off the chart. He is definitely at the top of the universe’s food chain.
Dita, his destined mate, is absolutely fearless. She is human, is not at all immortal like Kralj is yet she’s not afraid of him or of dying. She is the light to his darkness.

The Refuge is home to some of the most violent beings in the universe. Kralj, its leader, reigns over the remote outpost with terrifying ease, ruthlessly squashing any rumors of rebellion, killing anyone who breaks his rules. Primitive, deadly, powerful, he’s a monster, scarred both on his face and his soul. He has never met a being he couldn’t control.
Until he meets her.
Dita has one mission—to kill the three targets claiming sanctuary within the Refuge. Or so she claims. For the first time in his long lifespan, Kralj isn’t certain of another being’s intentions. The tiny assassin is immune to his powers, her thoughts unreadable. He can’t predict her movements, can’t control her, can’t stop wanting her.
Dita is rare, as unique as he is, and, to keep the residents of the Refuge safe, Kralj will have to kill her. But first, he’ll touch her, taste her, show her how passionate the beast inside him can be.
