2021 wasn’t all smooth sailing. (laughs semi-hysterically) But wow, it had some wonderful moments, moments I’ll never forget. Books were written, released and read. Many of you reached out to me during the year and I loved hearing from you. We shared some bad jokes and had some good laughs.
2022 will be even better! I can’t wait for you to read Seizing Power. I’m working on Provoking Odium, the first story in the new cyborg series. I have that awesome idea for the alien romance. There are writing buddies, some of my favorite writers on the planet, working on super cool alien romance and cyborg romance releases. I’m looking forward to reading those stories.

This cyborg believes he’s in control.

Throwback Thursday – Dark Thoughts
Dark Thoughts is my bust-a-reading-rut Romance. If you want a hero who is unlike any other you’ve read, Kralj, the all-knowing, all-powerful Ruler of the Refuge, is your male.
He has almost unlimited powers and likes to literally EAT his enemies. The scariest beings in the universe are terrified of him. Kralj, being an intelligent male, is unsettled by his own abilities.
Dita is his match. The pint-sized human assassin doesn’t appear to be Kralj’s equal at first. But she is fearless, has hidden skills and a wild way of looking at life.
I love this couple and I love this story.

Giving Back To The Universe
I couldn’t craft my cyborg and alien romances without the insights, research and generosity of scientists situated all over this beautiful planet. Their papers, posts, discussions contribute to details such as how a cyborg’s nanocybotics might function. Many of these awesome scientists refuse to be directly compensated for their help.
As a thank you, I often covertly donate to their favorite charities and causes.
I also donate a small portion of my book sales to ongoing science-based projects such as coral reef restoration and tree planting.
To date, for example, donations sourced from the sales of my books have been responsible for the planting of approximately 461 coral fragments. We have funded the planting of 5,350 trees around our planet.

Seizing Power And The Rebel Forces
Seizing Power, the fifth core story in the Rebel Cyborgs series (releasing in February), is a clash of two factions – the Rebel Cyborgs situated on Mercury Minor and the Cyborg Council Cyborgs situated on the Cyborg Homeland.
Power and the Cyborg Council Cyborgs have the numbers. They have millions of warriors, all loyal (for now) to them. Power has reasons (other than arrogance) to not be concerned.
Cadet/Eirene Ours and the Rebel Cyborgs have the loyalty of the cyborgs they’ve rescued, some skilled humans and humanoids on their side, and alliances with the Retrievers and the Modified Humanoids. They also have favors they can call in and they have the advantage that they know almost everything about their opponents.
The two factions are both formidable. There will be no easy victories for either side.

Seizing Power And Standalones
Most of my stories, although set in a large complex world, can be read on their own. New-to-me readers can start with any of those stories and can follow their plots and enjoy the romance.
That’s not true of Seizing Power, the fifth core story in the Rebel Cyborgs series (releasing in February). It is SUCH a connected story. There are so many beings facing off on each side of the conflict between the cyborgs on Mercury Minor and the cyborgs on the Homeland.
I think it would be confusing for new readers to start with this story.
I like to view Seizing Power as being a story written solely for series readers. You know who Power is. You know who Eirene Ours/Cadet is. You know Rage and Joan and Intrepid and the modified humanoids, the retrievers. This is a story written with you in mind.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – December 26th
I received a gazillion romance novels as gifts from my eldest brother. Reading those books and spending time with the Dear Wonderful Hubby are the only two items on my to-do list this upcoming week. (grins) Yep, life is good.
This past week, I wrote a few more chapters in the first draft of Provoking Odium, the first story in the upcoming Cyborg Unity series (releasing in June). I’m excited about this story. I think you’ll enjoy it.

B is the last remaining B Model cyborg. All of his brethren, the beings he trained with, fought with, cared deeply for, have perished.
Or so he believes.
When he intercepts a communication mentioning the existence of one of his kind, he has to investigate its source. The message could be a trap set by his enemies. He’ll take that risk if it secures him the companionship he requires to be fully functional.
What he finds is a daring brown-eyed female who activates all his systems. She proudly proclaims she’s a researcher, brandishing that information like a weapon before her. He wants to kiss the sass off her beautiful face, protect her from the dangers around them, claim her forever.
Quinn is on a quest to locate the mechanics of an early-version cyborg. She believes the information captured within that frame will give her valuable insights into the past.
When her mission goes zombie-like beings levels of wrong, she comes face-to-face with a living, breathing B Model. He has big hands, a primitive countenance, and stern hard lips crafted for kissing.
She doesn’t trust him. And she doesn’t have time to indulge her desires.
Their shared enemies are chasing them, would kill to get their precious specimens back. One minor mistake could reduce B and Quinn to a mere line in the databases of history.

Throwback Thursday – Releasing Rage
Releasing Rage was the first cyborg romance I had ever written.
I wrote it for myself.
Two of my favorite writers were taking a break from cyborg romance. When I told the Dear Wonderful Hubby I didn’t have any new cyborg romances to read, he suggested I write my own. (grins) He’s awesome like that (and in many other ways).
Most cyborg romances at that time were set AFTER the cyborgs had liberated themselves from their manufacturers. I wanted to know WHY they would rebel. I suspected that reason would be very dark.
And I was correct. Releasing Rage is set in a very dark world. If you have issues with violence of ANY kind, this is likely not the story for you.
Half Man. Half Machine. All Hers.
Rage, the Humanoid Alliance’s most primitive cyborg, has two goals—kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that’s all he’s been programmed to experience.
Until he meets Joan.
Joan, the battle station’s first female engineer, has one goal—survive long enough to help the big sexy cyborg plotting to kill her. Rage might not trust her but he wants her. She sees the passion in his eyes, the caring in his battle-worn hands, the gruff emotion in his voice.
When Joan survives the unthinkable, Rage’s priorities are tested. Is there enough room in this cyborg’s heart for both love and revenge?

Cyborg Unity
I’ve decided upon a series name for the next part of the cyborg saga (starting with Provoking Odium in June).
The name of the new series will be Cyborg Unity. (grins)
Yes, that’s a hint as to what will happen in Seizing Power (releasing in February) between the two cyborg factions.
Amanda Kelsey, my amazing cover artist, has designed the above symbol for this series. I love it. It has a balanced, yin and yang feel to it, yet is very much SciFi. This symbol will appear on the covers of the books in this series.
