Feed A Friendship
You’re busy.
Hey, I understand that.
Stars, do I understand that.
(grins)
But take five minutes today and send a message to a friend/other loved one. This could be a purely online friend. Or a friend you only interact with in person. This could be a friend you’re related to. Or a work friend. Or someone else.
The message doesn’t have to be long or fancy.
It could simply be
‘I was thinking of you today. You make my life more joyful.’
And that’s it.
That’s enough to ensure your relationship doesn’t starve.
Feed a friendship today.

Take Action
Whenever my food insecurities flare up, I plant a seed.
(This year, the garden is jam packed. – grins)
That seed is potential food. It could be future food. Knowing that food is coming calms me.
Whenever I worry about money, I write some more words.
Those words turn into stories. I can publish stories. If reading buddies like the premises behind these stories, they might buy them. That would increase our income.
I can relax a little bit, knowing I did something to combat the money worries.
I find taking action helps me deal with everything going on in my household and in the world.
This tactic might help you also!
(big hugs)

Send A Written Thank You Today
I love sending thank you letters, especially to employees who have helped the Dear Wonderful Hubby and/or me.
Because I know that sometimes a thank you letter is the difference between an employee keeping her job or being let go. Or it can be the difference between her getting a promotion or not.
It ALWAYS makes that employee happy. That’s guaranteed.
And isn’t that a gift – to be able to bring someone joy with a few hastily jotted down nice words?
Thank you letters might seem old fashioned. It is easier and quicker to simply send an email.
But snail mail letters are more impactful. They are placed in employment files. They are copied and handed out to managers and employees and pinned on boards in lunch rooms.
That’s worth a stamp.
Change someone’s world for the better today. Send a written thank you!

How To Argue With Strangers On The Internet
A buddy often tells me he argues with strangers on the internet not to change their minds, that never happens, but to ensure he doesn’t change HIS mind.
I try to do this without involving the other person, the stranger.
When I see a terrible (mean or intolerant or…) post, I’ll craft a reply. I’ll state all the reasons the stranger’s post is horrible.
And then I won’t post that reply.
This reinforces to me, to my soul, that the stranger’s post is not what I want to think.
And I don’t have to deal with replies from someone I don’t want to associate with. They don’t get a chance to try to convince me to be a horrible person also.
This has made me a much happier, and, I think, a much kinder person.

Never Mention It Again
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I have an agreement.
If one of us doesn’t like a new-to-us meal the other person has cooked for us, we say nothing and simply never ask for that meal again.
Not asking for it again is a gentle way of saying we don’t like it. This doesn’t make the chef feel bad in the moment, after they have spent precious time and effort creating the dish.
The not-optimal meal is merely forgotten and never spoken of again.
I apply this to some other parts of my life.
If I don’t like something, I never speak of it again.

Do The Most Important Work First
Some days, I’m tempted to start the day with gardening and THEN focus on the fresh writing in the afternoon.
This is a bad idea.
Because gardening is physically tiring. And I want to take a nap after doing it.
I also lose all track of time gardening. I can garden until the sun goes down and that doesn’t leave enough time for the planned writing.
But most importantly, writing is more important to me right now than gardening.
Do the most important work first.
Then play in the garden (or read or talk with coworkers or…).

You Are Doing Awesomely
We are securely in the second half of 2026. The world is a tire fire. There seems to be new challenges flung at our faces every single day.
And you’re handling them, my friend.
You’re surviving.
And that’s the only thing any of us truly have to do.
(smiles)
All we truly have to do is live for another day. That’s the true barometer of success in life.
And you’re doing this! You ARE a successful human!
Yay!

Have Purpose
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are happy people. We’re not happy all the time. That’s impossible to do. But we’re happy for a significant portion of the day.
And one of the many reasons I think we’re happy is we both have purpose.
We like to support the bumblebees, as one small example. We plant flowers they’ll like. We care for our yard in a way that will help the bees.
And this makes us happy. Because we feel like we’re making a difference in the world and especially in THEIR worlds.
Have a purpose. This could be to make someone smile every day. Or to support a local library. Or to keep your neighborhood clean of trash. Or to be the best furbaby mommy on the planet.
We all need purpose. Give yourself one.

Enjoy Your Garden
It is roughly mid way through our summer. The vegetable garden is very green. Flowers are blooming. A little bit of food is being harvested every day.
It is tempting to spend every moment tending to the garden, sowing seeds, weeding, worrying about underperforming plants.
Ensure you take some time every day to simply enjoy the garden.
Listen to the bees buzz. Watch the butterflies flutter around the space. Smell the air. Touch some leaves.
You built a little paradise for yourself. Savor it, my friend.

Recap The Wonderful
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I have a routine.
At the end of the day, we recap all of the wonderful things we’ve experienced that day.
We’ll talk about the bees we’ve spotted, the jokes we’ve shared, the people we’ve connected happily with, the food we’ve enjoyed, everything that brought us joy.
The wonderful thing about this routine is…
You don’t need another person to do this with. You can recap the wonderful with your furbaby or your plant or your image in the mirror.
I can guarantee this will increase your joy and gratitude and isn’t THAT a wonderful thing?
