The world is very uncertain right now. Things are changing constantly and quickly.
Diversity is one way to help deal with this.
A gardening expert once said, “If you’re focused on failures, you aren’t planting enough variety.”
If we plant 1 type of plant, in today’s world, there’s a high probability we’ll have a disastrous growing season. One storm or stretch of drought or frost or invasion of plant-unfriendly insects happens and we’ll have NO harvest.
If we plant 30 different types of plants, SOMETHING will likely succeed. We’ll have a harvest of something.
This applies to almost all areas of our lives. If we’re writing in 2 genres, we have a better chance of surviving today’s turbulent publishing environment. If we love 5 different types of chocolate bars, we have a higher probability of finding a chocolate bar we love at stores in the future. If we have 3 different ways of getting to work, we will likely always have a way to get to work.
Give yourself options, my friend. Options are great! They give us flexibility and security.
