Everyone liked that I included the newsletter snippets for 2022 in the back of Over Torque.
I’ll slowly (emphasis on slowly) add the snippets to the short stories gifted over the previous years. I’ll likely do this starting with the first short story (Being Green) and move forward.
Once I’ve completed one (Did I mention I’ll be doing this VERY slowly? – grins), I’ll mention its ‘re-release’ in my newsletter and, likely, here on my blog.

Muse Food – Moose
I grew up around moose so it likely isn’t a surprise I write stories set on alien planets. Moose are alien looking creatures. (grins)
They’re HUGE. That vending machine in the background of this photo of a preserved moose in Wawa, Ontario, Canada? It is full size.
If a car hits a moose, the car is totalled and the driver is likely dead. Shotgun (riding in the passenger seat) is a serious role up north. The number one task of every shotgun person is looking for moose.
Moose are also the top of the food chain, even though they eat vegetation. Nothing messes with a full grown healthy moose and that includes bears.
Moose don’t know fear. They’re armed with a solid set of antlers, long legs and deadly hooves. AND they know how to use them.
I find moose…inspiring. And I have a healthy respect for them.

Thank You For A Wonderful 2022!
2022 was the first year in my two year ‘break.’ (grins)
I ‘only’ published 3 core stories in the cyborg universe – Seizing Power, Provoking Odium and Grin And Bare Him – and one ‘bonus’ short stories – Over Torque.

Writing is a team sport. I couldn’t spend the time I wish to tell my stories without awesome readers like you.

Giving Back To The Universe
My cyborg romances are based heavily on current scientific thinking here on Earth. I couldn’t write my stories without the insights, research and generosity of scientists situated all over this beautiful planet.
Many of these scientists refuse to be directly compensated for their help so, as a thank you, I often semi-secretly donate to their favorite charities and causes.
(Thank you, social media, for providing this information. – grins)
I also donate a small portion of my book sales to ongoing science-based projects such as coral reef restoration and tree planting. This year, these donations were amplified as some of them were matched by the Dear Wonderful Hubby’s employer.
To date, donations sourced from the sales of my books have been responsible for the planting of approximately 551 coral fragments. We have funded the planting of 13,850 trees around our planet.

Over Torque And Being Chosen By A Cat
One of the greatest feelings in the world is when a new-to-you cat chooses you, when they choose you to trust, to care for them, to protect them.
Other fur babies might love everyone but the average cat is cautious. They’re wary. They are selective. It is a HUGE deal when they select us.
One of the (many) reasons I knew the Dear Wonderful Hubby had a kind soul was… cats LOVE him. He’s very much allergic to most of them yet, if there is a cat within a couple blocks of him, that cat is winding around his shoes, loving on him.
Ceridwen, the heroine of Over Torque, was chosen by her feral street cat, Princess. They have a complicated relationship, as happens with feral cats, but Princess clearly adores her human. And her human adores her back. (smiles)

Over Torque And Space Cats
Ceridwen, the heroine of Over Torque, this year’s FREE short story, has a cat. Or rather, the cat has her. (grins) Princess is definitely in charge of their relationship.
Her cat is described as “an ancient Earth creature” but I suspect variations of cats are found all over the universe. Because there are variations of rodents all over the universe and something has to keep those populations stable.

Over Torque And Newsletter Snippets
If you’ve read Over Torque, my cyborg romance short story gift to you this year, you might have noticed I included a copy of all the scenes I’ve shared in my newsletter over the year.
These have NOT be edited. My Awesome Editor hasn’t seen them. As they aren’t edited before they appear in my newsletters. (sheepish grin)
Previously, I offered the snippets on BookFunnel as separate files. That was, admittedly, a confusing hot mess and it was a LOT of extra work for my current Fantastic Formatter, the Dear Wonderful Hubby.
I had to do that because certain booksellers don’t like a lot of extra material in the back of books. They ban writers permanently for doing that.
But that bookseller now also doesn’t like free short stories. I had to delete the freebie short stories I had listed there.
So now I can put as much extra material as I like at the back of short stories.
Let me know if adding the newsletter snippets at the end of Over Torque works or doesn’t work for you! If it doesn’t work, I’ll figure something else out. If it DOES work, I’ll likely (eventually) revise the earlier short stories to include snippets from their respective years also.

Needing Valor And Traits Valued By Cyborgs
I smiled when I wrote the scene where the other cyborgs are congratulating Valor on locating his female. They are SUCH warriors and view everything through a warrior’s gaze.
One of his brethren admires Halleli’s small horns, viewing them as natural weapons. Another warrior points out her skin color could serve as camouflage on some planets. Valor likes her full figure, processes she is built for a cyborg.
And when he meets with his female, he applauds her bravery. She might not be skilled with explosives or weapons but she is, in his gaze, a fellow warrior.
