Throwback Thursday – Baring Grudge
Cyborgs were often decommissioned, killed by the Humanoid Alliance, their manufacturers, if they weren’t fully functional, if they had any defects, including mismatched limbs.
Grudge is well aware of this reality. His limbs don’t match.
He lives life to the fullest, knowing if he is ever retaken by the Humanoid Alliance, he will die.
Then he meets a human female and her young humanoid female protégé. And they show him his faults are truly his greatest strengths.
Baring Grudge
No one in the universe is more determined than a cyborg warrior tracking his female.

Grudge, a C Model cyborg, has been assigned a mission – safeguard a Humanoid Alliance space station for his kind. Honor was once all he had, and he is determined to fulfill his duty.
That resolve is tested when a tiny human female enters the space station and sets the prettiest little explosives the warrior has ever seen. She is Grudge’s genetic match, the one being manufactured for him. He wants to touch her, kiss her, claim her in all ways, but first he has to stop her from blasting him into the next galaxy.
Taelyn has a self-appointed mission—to destroy every battle robot the Humanoid Alliance has ever manufactured. A huge gray-skinned, blue-eyed cyborg warrior with mismatched arms won’t prevent her from achieving her goal. She’ll escape him, leaving destruction in her wake.
Before she departs, she’ll experience one toe-curling moment of hatred-edged passion with her handsome foe. She’ll show him how skilled with detonations she truly is. He will have his universe rocked.
Then she’ll disappear.

Newsletter Snippets And The Short Stories
The feedback from reading buddies has been unanimous!
Everyone liked that I included the newsletter snippets for 2022 in the back of Over Torque.
I’ll slowly (emphasis on slowly) add the snippets to the short stories gifted over the previous years. I’ll likely do this starting with the first short story (Being Green) and move forward.

The Next Heroine
The next story in the Cyborg Unity series is Raw Desires, releasing in February.
We know who the hero is.
In Grin And Bare Him, Raw arrives on Mercury Minor with his buddies Grin and Strive. He is prepared to claim his mysterious genetic match.

Muse Food – Moose
I grew up around moose so it likely isn’t a surprise I write stories set on alien planets. Moose are alien looking creatures. (grins)
They’re HUGE. That vending machine in the background of this photo of a preserved moose in Wawa, Ontario, Canada? It is full size.
If a car hits a moose, the car is totalled and the driver is likely dead. Shotgun (riding in the passenger seat) is a serious role up north. The number one task of every shotgun person is looking for moose.
Moose are also the top of the food chain, even though they eat vegetation. Nothing messes with a full grown healthy moose and that includes bears.
Moose don’t know fear. They’re armed with a solid set of antlers, long legs and deadly hooves. AND they know how to use them.
I find moose…inspiring. And I have a healthy respect for them.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – January 8th
This past week, I experimented a bit with Strive For Forever, the fourth story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in June). I really like one of the opening scenes. It begins the story in an interesting place.
I’ll start writing the first draft in earnestness this week. There will be some starts and stops as there usually are when I begin a story. I write linearly but not in a constant flow of words. The story often comes to me in chunks.

Cynthia Sax And Happy Ever Afters
There is always much discussion about Happy Ever Afters or Happy For Nows and Romance Novels.
My stance is…
My stories ALWAYS have a Romantic Happy Ever After for the main couple (or more).
Everyone else is at risk.
I place the focus on Romantic because the world won’t be all sunshine and rainbows at the end of the story. In the Cyborg Romance world, for example, the Humanoid Alliance will continue to do bad things. Not every cyborg warrior will find their genetic match. Beings will die.
The main couple (or more) plus past main couples (or more) are the only truly ‘safe’ beings in the stories. Others are at risk. I hope none of the other cyborgs will die. Crash And Burn really hurt me as a writer. But I can’t guarantee that.
I CAN guarantee that main couples (or more) and past main couple (or more) will be safe. They will enjoy their Romantic Happy EVER Afters. Their love will last forever.

Throwback Thursday – Under Strain
Being enslaved by the Humanoid Alliance and forced to do terrible things has impacted the cyborgs. Some of them are broken and will likely never be fully functional.
Strain is one of those warriors. He has a cyborg version of PTSD and he doesn’t trust himself. He definitely doesn’t feel he’s safe to be around fragile humans.
Kamyelle isn’t fragile but she IS human. She is intent on rescuing him, not knowing that the real danger is Strain.
Under Strain
A damaged cyborg warrior is hunted by a peace-loving human female.

Strain is severely malfunctioning. The D Model cyborg was the sole survivor after a horrific decision was made by his cruel manufacturers. He hates all humans, and when he attacks one who is under his cyborg leader’s protection, he is reprimanded, stripped of his weapons, and told to watch and not actively participate in the next mission.
That mission takes place on a small remote planet. Its lush terrain should only be inhabited by the cyborgs they were sent to rescue, but Strain senses another presence on the surface. She is watching him, tracking him, hunting him.
A fully operational cyborg would end her lifespan.
Strain wants to claim her. Forever.
Kamyelle is the only one left of her kind. Warriors have killed the other nonviolent human inhabitants of her planet. She survived…barely…by hiding in the trees, observing her enemies, and covering herself with lifeform scan-concealing mud.
When a handsome, gray-skinned, brilliant-blue-eyed male arrives, surrounded by weapon-carrying warriors, she has to save him. Warriors harm and they kill. That is what they do.
She won’t allow them to hurt Strain.

Goodreads And Writers
I receive quite a few messages from reading buddies about Goodreads.
Goodreads is purely a reader space. Writers, as far as I know, don’t have the power to list stories, to change descriptions, to delete stories. We have to contact a Goodreads librarian and that all powerful being might or might not agree with our views.
Readers use Goodreads in a gazillion different ways. Some reading buddies have been listing my newsletter snippets on Goodreads because they like to track them that way. Some reading buddies mark books they want to read with 1 star ratings. That reminds them to read that book later. Some reading buddies prefer older covers or even older titles.
I can make suggestions to Goodreads librarians but I can’t control much of…well…anything there.
And I’m cool with that. Readers SHOULD have a space they can control.

I haven’t given you an update regarding my tentative release schedule in a while. (grins) It is time!
I will have three core releases in 2023. All of them reside in the Cyborg Unity series.
February – Raw Desires
June – Strive For Forever
October – Intrepid Encounter
The actual months (excluding February and Raw Desires) might shift a bit, either releasing a month earlier or a month later, but these three core stories will be next.
I will likely also write a short story for December but I haven’t decided whose story that will be or the title.
