The White-Nosed Coati And Raccoons In Space
There was a white-nosed coati in the sloth sanctuary in Roatán and stars, do they ever resemble the North American Raccoon aka Trash Panda. (grins) It is clear they are relatives.
One day, in the future, I will likely write a story featuring a raccoon in space. I suspect this raccoon character will be more like the animal here on Earth (highly intelligent yet non-speaking) and less like Rocket from Guardians Of The Galaxy (basically a human in raccoon form).

The Adventures Of A Colombian White-Faced Capuchin
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I traveled to Roatán and while we were there, we visited a sloth sanctuary. The sloth sanctuary also hosted Colombian white-faced capuchins.
Most of them were in huge cages. This little guy was an escape artist.
The tour guide told us not to worry about him. When he got hungry, he’d return to a cage.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I laughed our fool heads off because we’d just watched this Colombian white-faced capuchin meet up with one of his caged buddies. The caged buddy had passed him food through the wires.
So no, we don’t think he’ll ever return to a cage. He has the best of both worlds. He’s free AND he doesn’t have to work too hard for food.

Sloths And Other ‘Alien’ Creatures
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I traveled to Roatán and while we were there, we visited a sloth sanctuary. I joked that if a sloth-like creature appeared in one of my cyborg romances, no one would believe such a creature could exist.
“The creature moves slowly, sports huge claws on their hands and feet, and there’s a permanent smile plastered on their face.”
(grins) Yeah. That doesn’t sound fictional at all. <–extreme sarcasm
Look at that adorable smile! And those huge claws!
Sloths have an interesting profile also.
There were sloth babies! They are hard to see here. We didn’t get very close to them (we used the zoom function) as we didn’t want to hurt them. Sloths are extremely sensitive to scents.
