Preparing The Garden For Next Year
We rarely (as in once every 10 years or so) purchase fertilizer or amendments for our gardens.
We don’t need to do this. We’re fortunate that nature provides everything we need.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I prep the vegetable gardens in the Fall/Autumn.
The first layer is a sprinkle of crushed eggshells. This goes on the bottom of the prep lasagne as to ensure it doesn’t attract Rocky the Raccoon or other critters. Eggshells are a long term investment. They take a while to break down. But we plan to have a garden for a long while so we’re okay with waiting. (smiles)
The next layer is compost made from kitchen scraps, coffee grounds, leaves and other yard waste.
Then we add a knee deep layer of leaves. Leaves are super rich in minerals and nutrients. They are GOLD for the garden and are the main reason why we don’t need additional fertilizer or amendments. We wet the leaves and we place large sticks on top of the beds to keep the leaves in place.
The final layer consists of coffee grounds we obtain from nearby coffee shops.
That’s it! (smiles)
The garden beds ‘rest’ all winter. They are covered with snow, are rained on, dried out, frozen, thawed.
And by spring, the leaves have turned into a layer of mulch, the coffee grounds and compost are neutralized and the beds are ready to plant in!

Leaves, Eggshells And Other Riches
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I have lived in our current house for decades. We hadn’t really used our back yard until recently but I knew we’d eventually put a vegetable garden there.
Did I prepare for that future?
Well…no.
(sheepish grin)
Instead of spreading leaves over a section of it and eventually creating awesome soil with that leaf mulch (black gold as many gardeners call it), we bagged the leaves and sent it to the city to compost.
Instead of crumbling dried eggshells over the soil, adding that valuable natural fertilizer, we, again, sent the eggshells to the city to be composted.
These two easy steps would have completely transformed our back yard. It would have cost us nothing and it would have taken mere minutes to do.
Anyhoo… we can’t live life backwards. I’m sharing this because you might be ‘throwing away’ the same riches, instead of burying them (literally – grins) in your back yard.
If you are fortunate to have soil (and a yard), consider taking care of it. That will pay off (in tomatoes) in the future!

Grin And Bare Him
This cyborg will be the warrior his female requires.
Cyborgs are manufactured to fight.
Almost all of the half organic, half mechanical warriors enjoy battle. Tremendously.
Grin, a K model, is one of the rare exceptions. When he escaped his cruel creators, he set down his weapons and allocated his processors to less-violent pursuits. He projects he’s left his war-waging planet rotations behind him forever.
Then he meets his beautiful, beguiling female—the one being he’s destined to protect, claim, love for all eternity—and his plans for peace are completely decimated.
Mohini needs a ship.
She has a dangerous mission to complete, and the first step in that assignment is arranging transport to an enemy-controlled planet. The vessel she has set her sights on is guarded by the sexiest cyborg she’s ever seen.
To gain access to his ship, Mohini is prepared to kiss, caress, and seduce the muscular male. The mission is her focus. The pleasure she experiences will merely be a bonus.
A female has to do what a female has to do to save the universe.
Grin And Bare Him is a Fake-Mate Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.
It features a humanoid female undertaking a dangerous mission, a cyborg intent on keeping her alive, and an enemy who has no idea what they will soon unleash.
