Sloths And Other ‘Alien’ Creatures

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I traveled to Roatán and while we were there, we visited a sloth sanctuary. I joked that if a sloth-like creature appeared in one of my cyborg romances, no one would believe such a creature could exist.

“The creature moves slowly, sports huge claws on their hands and feet, and there’s a permanent smile plastered on their face.”

(grins) Yeah. That doesn’t sound fictional at all. <–extreme sarcasm

Look at that adorable smile! And those huge claws!

Sloths have an interesting profile also.

There were sloth babies! They are hard to see here. We didn’t get very close to them (we used the zoom function) as we didn’t want to hurt them. Sloths are extremely sensitive to scents.

Seizing Power

This cyborg believes he’s in control.

Power is the self-appointed leader of the cyborg council. Other members might debate situations. He makes the ultimate decisions.

Change Isn’t A Direct Line

In Seizing Power, Power, the cyborg hero, starts the story with his arrogance act firmly in place. As he interacts with Eirene Ours, his genetic match, he changes…a bit. But then he relapses. And he tries again.

Because that is how change usually is. It isn’t a direct line, isn’t an off or on switch, even with cyborgs, beings who are half machine. We try. We fail. We try again. Over and over. Until the change ‘sticks.’ Until it stays with us.

If you’re seeking to change, be kind and patient with yourself. Know that it will take time. We will fail at it. Often multiple times. That is part of the process.

Purses In Space

Would beings still carry purses far into the future?

I’d like to think all garments would, by that time, have sufficient pockets or built-in holster or sheathes to carry things like weapons or nourishment bars or other supplies.

BUT there will always be a need for some sort of pack for larger hauls. If a being plans to blow up a space station, for example, she can’t carry all those explosives in her pockets. A medic can’t carry all her supplies in her pockets either.

So yes, I believe beings would still carry purses of some sort.

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted this warrior-friendly purse in a shop in Florida.

This silver clutch purse could double as a weapon, as brass knuckles, and could carry a small gun. Some of my heroines would love it as an accessory. (grins)
