Rereading Before Strive For Forever Releases
Strive For Forever can be read on its own.
If you haven’t read any stories of mine, well…I suggest you read Releasing Rage. (grins) That’s currently free and is a great way to try one of my cyborg romances risk-free.
But if you want Strive For Forever to be your first cyborg romance from me, hey, that’s awesome too! It is a solid entry point.
For long time reading buddies who want to reread some of my cyborg romances before Strive For Forever releases, I, of course, recommend rereading Grin And Bare Him and Raw Desires. Grin and Raw are Strive’s best buddies. They definitely make appearances in his story.
Power and Eirene Ours also make an appearance. But more briefly. So you might wish to reread Seizing Power.
Intrepid makes an even briefer appearance. His story is next. We first ‘meet’ Intrepid on page in Releasing Rage. And he plays a part in Seizing Power also.

Strive For Forever
This cyborg seeks to vanquish an ancient entity and save his curvy human female.
Euryale made a terrible mistake. She opened a container she shouldn’t have touched and released one of the oldest lifeforms in existence. That all-powerful entity is now utilizing her as its host body and is slowly draining her energy.
Soon, she’ll die.
Euryale has accepted this fate and is determined to use her remaining moments in the universe to save as many lives as she can.
Her plans do NOT include a smoldering-hot, poetry-wielding cyborg willing to decimate entire planets to save her.
While under the control of the Humanoid Alliance, Strive, a K Model cyborg, disobeyed direct orders and refused to kill on their behalf. If he hadn’t escaped their cruel clutches, his defiance would have led to his death.

Strive For Forever
This cyborg seeks to vanquish an ancient entity and save his curvy human female.
Euryale made a terrible mistake. She opened a container she shouldn’t have touched and released one of the oldest lifeforms in existence. That all-powerful entity is now utilizing her as its host body and is slowly draining her energy.

“Fraggin’ hole.” Raw was oblivious to his state. “Is that another weapon?” He delved his right hand into the space to grab the pack.
“It’s mine.” Strive pushed his friend away from his prize.
“It isn’t yours, you malfunctioning bag of bolts.” Raw shoved him back. Harder. “This isn’t a pretty rock or an interesting splatter of mud. Weapons are my domain.”
“Stop it.” Grin propelled both of them away from opening. “The contents of the pack were given to us to guard, not to utilize.” He extracted the pack from its hiding place. “In order to properly protect them, we need to process what they are and who might be searching for them. Which is where your expertise is required, Raw.”
Grin opened the pack.
The tantalizing scent intensified. The aroma teased Strive’s nostrils and drove him completely wild. He was overwhelmed with the primitive need to take, to claim, to move the pack far away from anyone and everyone.
“Mine.” He grabbed the pack and turned his back to his friends, hunching over his newfound treasure, protecting it.
“What has gotten into you?” Raw circled Strive. His friend stared him. “You’re acting like…me.”
Raw’s female grinned.
“Strive isn’t you.” Grin’s forehead furrowed. “There’s only one thing or one being I can process that would make him act that way.”
“One being.” Raw repeated those two words. “Ohhh…” His eyes widened. “You’ve found your genetic match.”
“Strive has found an object belonging to his genetic match.” Grin’s expression turned grimmer. “That doesn’t mean he’ll locate that being.”
“All the objects in the pack were stolen by the Humanoid Alliance.” Grin’s female’s tone was equally solemn. “My kind’s guardians died trying to stop that from happening. Others might have died also.”
“My being is alive.” A wildness gripped Strive. She or he had to be alive. He peered into the pack. One of the objects it contained would lead him to the being he was fabricated to protect, to care for, to create a future with.
He grasped the first object. It was a glowing dagger.
“Careful.” Grin’s female hovered closer to him. “We don’t know the powers of the objects or what activates those powers, but Euryale, the being who gave the pack to us, cautioned they were dangerous.”
Strive brought the dagger up to his nose and breathed deeply. The scent clung to it.
But it was less intense than the aroma wafting upward from the pack.
His genetic match could’ve handled it briefly. It hadn’t belonged to her or him.
He passed the dagger to Raw.
“The Humanoid Alliance Commander we…encountered mentioned a magical glowing dagger.” Raw’s female touched the blade. “He said it belonged to a Valkyrie. And she wanted it back.”
“Fraggin’ hole.” Grin cursed. “We aren’t prepared to battle a Valkyrie. They’re some of the best warriors in the universe. And it’s nearly impossible to kill them.”
Strive didn’t care about battles or Valkyries. His focus was on locating his being.
He extracted the objects one by one, smelled them, passed them to Raw.
Until all he was left was the empty pack. The appealing scent originated from it.
He caressed the interior, the handles. The pack had once belonged to his being. His genetic match had touched it, possessed it.
Resolve filled Strive. He had to meet with him or her. “You were given this by a being named Euryale.” That name felt good on his tongue. “Where is this Euryale located?”
Grin exchanged a look with his female. “She was situated on Keid 9, a Humanoid Alliance-controlled planet, when we met with her. But—” He took a ragged breath. “—there’s only a 2.3764 percent probability she’s alive, Strive.”
“She’s alive.” She had to be alive. He couldn’t come so close to finding her and not see her, hold her, claim her.
The universe wouldn’t be that cruel.
Except Strive had witnessed it was that cruel. Again and again.
Despair swept over him. His systems strained.
“Find the calm.” He repeated that mantra and centered his processing on the decadent scent swirling around him. His anguish dissipated. A warmth flowed through him. His emotional system stabilized.
“When we met with Euryale, she was serving as a host to a powerful deity.” Grin’s female’s voice was soft. “She’s human, and that was killing her. Euryale was resigned to death, was almost cheerful about it. And then, when we escaped, a different deity was freed from its container. As we ran to our ship, it was killing the Humanoid Alliance beings, crashing their vessels, crushing their structures. The likelihood of her surviving that violence is—”
“She’s alive.” Strive jutted his jaw. The alternative was unprocessable. “And I will retrieve her.”
Or he would die trying.
She was his future, his hope, his calm. He had to save his female.

Strive For Forever And Adam
Euryale, the heroine of Strive For Forever, refers to the lifeforce inhabiting her form as Adam. She believes she gave the entity that name. He didn’t volunteer it.
Because I suspect, being all powerful, he ‘helped’ her come up with Adam. Adam is super controlling. He would only allow his host to call him by a name he approved.
The Adam I always think about, when I hear that name, is the Adam in the Bible, the first man on Earth according to Christian religions.
Adam, in Strive For Forever, likes to be thought about as being ‘first’ also – first in his host’s thoughts, first in any hierarchy, first on the list of most powerful entities.

Yes, he is VERY secure about his self-worth…and he has a right to be that way. He IS extremely powerful.

Strive And Not Having To Earn Income As An Artist
One thing that I love about Strive, the artist hero of Strive For Forever, is, because he’s a cyborg, he doesn’t have to earn an income. He can create anything he wishes and not have to worry about the financial consequences.
That’s so fraggin’ freeing. And I hope for that for all artists.
His big wish, however, is that his art is understood and appreciated.
Which is a completely different challenge. (grins)

Strive For Forever – Third Scene Of The First Chapter

“I wanted only you to find it.” Grin nodded. “No one else. Especially not the Humanoid Alliance.” They all hated their manufacturers. His peace-preferring friend was no exception to that. “If something happened to me.” That if cast a chill around Strive’s heart. “I projected you would come here with Raw, and the two of you would locate it.”
“You projected that correctly.” Raw and Raw’s female rejoined them.
“What are you hiding?” Strive ran his fingers over the stone. There was a slight grove on the surface. He pressed it.
The stone slid forward, revealing a storage space. In that storage space was an object wrapped in purple fabric.
He reached for it.
“Don’t touch it.” Grin’s female blocked his hands. “Not unless you absolutely have to. It has… powers.”
“It’s a weapon.” Raw’s eyes gleamed with interest. Their warrior friend viewed everything as a potential weapon.
Grin’s head dipped. “It can be a weapon.”
Raw had been correct.
Strive rolled his eyes. They would never hear the end of that.
“What does it do?” The male nearly vibrated with excitement.
“It’s a source of life, a gift, and it saved my kind.” Reverence and gratitude softened Grin’s female’s voice. “But if it is wielded improperly, it could destroy the universe.”
“It must be protected.” Grin wrapped one of his arms around his female.
That explained the extensive defenses they’d erected around the settlement and around their domicile.
Strive’s friend and his female were not only protecting her kind. They were protecting a mysterious weapon. And the universe.
“Who is aware of this weapon?” Raw’s processors had shifted to battle and to potential foes.
“We retrieved it from a Humanoid Alliance facility.” Grin relayed that news. “And we utilized it there.” His expression turned bleak.
His female appeared as grim as he did.
Beings must have died when they’d wielded the weapon. Strive’s friend disliked killing as much as he did.
“Frag. I wish I could have seen that.” Raw was a different type of being.
“No. You don’t wish to see that.” Grin’s female didn’t process how much the warrior enjoyed battle. “And the gift wasn’t the only object we retrieved.”
She pressed the top of the stone again. It slid back into place.
“Don’t show them.” Grin spoke to his female. “Strive will find the objects.” His friend said that with a confidence Strive didn’t share.
He hadn’t detected anything else unusual on his first scan of the chamber.
His second scan was slower, more detailed.
He focused on the objects sporting his designs.
Which were many. His friend had decorated his home with Strive’s art.
That pleased Strive. Tremendously.
The beams over their heads were engraved with images of the constellations as seen from the Cyborg Homeland. They were true to the designs he’d fabricated.
The floor tiles sported images of interesting rocks and streams he’d visually captured. The colors had been changed to shades of brown. But that was the only variance.
The wall panels were so lightly etched that at first glance they appeared devoid of decoration. The images were of plants.
Every vegetation depicted were equipped with defenses. The blooms of the Taphao Thung 2 fire bushes sketched on one panel exuded toxic spores. The giant leaves of the Brahen Base plant featured on another panel snapped shut when touched, trapping prey in their grips. The thorns of the Lipperhey 76 rose displayed on a third panel could pierce the toughest body armor.
Those thorns were upside down. Strive moved toward that panel.
His friend’s grin relayed he’d found the second hiding spot.
He skimmed his fingers over the panel. There were no unusual dips in the metal.
Stepping back, he perused the wall again.
The thorns were upside down.
Upside down.
On impulse, he felt along the edges of the panel. He located a fingerhold on the side and tugged. Nothing happened. He tried to rotate it. The panel moved.
Strive spun the image until the thorns faced in the correct direction. A click sounded, and the panel shifted to the right, revealing a compartment. That small space held a pack.
He leaned forward and a wave of scent hit him. It was a bombardment of beauty in vapor form, and it nearly knocked him off his booted feet.
Strive staggered and gripped the wall for support. His cock hardened. Desire rushed through his circuits. He saw bursts of colors—reds, greens, yellows, blues—but his processors communicated they didn’t truly exist.
The fragrance was pure inspiration. He breathed deeply, filling his nostrils and his soul with that sweet mixture, a combination of lust and wanting flavored with a hint of forever.
His auditory and visual systems fluctuated. His systems threatened to shut down.

Hiding Something Only A Friend Would Find
Grin and Mohini are seeking to hide the ‘gifts’ i.e. weapons they were given. They don’t want the enemy to find them. But they DO want beings they trust to be able to locate them, should anything happen to the two of them.
They settled on using their knowledge of the loved ones (in this case, Strive) to do this. They modify Strive’s design, knowing that would push him to investigate.
Which got me to thinking…how would a loved one signal to me where something might hidden?
I’d likely notice if something was out of order.
If books were shelved alphabetically, for example, yet there was one book that was misplaced.
Or if something was slightly off center. That would prompt me to straighten it. (grins)

Strive For Forever – Second Scene Of The First Chapter

“He vowed to cover our backs.” Raw snorted.
“You’re surrounded by perimeter alarms.” Strive didn’t look upward. His systems relayed where his friends were situated. “Your backs are covered.”
“The perimeter alarms aren’t sufficient.” His warrior friend would never find any defenses adequate.
“They aren’t sufficient.” Grin surprised Strive by agreeing with Raw. His less-battle-eager friend lowered beside him. “The cracks in the simulated stone were intentional.” He touched one of the breaks in the material. “The vegetation will grow up the forest-facing walls and eventually conceal the structures from view.”
“You expect to be attacked.” Raw moved closer to them. His shadow fell over the seedling.
“A warrior I respect told me…one thousand, three hundred and ninety-two times.” Grin’s tone was dry. “To always expect an attack.”
Raw grunted.
The ass was pleased with himself.
The two of them did listen to him—Raw was the reason Strive had any warrior skills at all—but they didn’t always agree with him.
Strive had no interest in killing, in destruction. That stressed his systems. He preferred to create, to add to the universe, not take from it.
“We should tell them.” Grin’s female nudged her male. “They’re risking their lifespans by being here, and they deserve to know about it.”
“We processed there was danger.” Raw wrapped one of his arms around his female, partially shielding her from the unidentified peril with his body armor-clad form. “There are weapons in the warship. We could utilize those to defeat the enemy.”
“An outside attack isn’t the only danger.” Grin’s female mumbled that revelation under her breath.
Strive was a cyborg. He heard her. “You could be attacked from within.” He straightened and glanced toward the center of the settlement. Her kind was a threat. “They call you their guardians. Yet they’d damage you?”
“No. Never.” Grin’s female shook her head vehemently. “The Praecipuans can be trusted.” She looked at her male. “We should show them.”
“Are you certain you want to share that information?” Grin stood also.
“We need their help.” Grin’s female pursed her lips. “They can’t help us if they don’t know about our situation.”
“I don’t process what you’re talking about.” Raw gave voice to Strive’s bewilderment. “Do you process it?” He gazed at his female.
“I don’t have any inkling.” Raw’s female was as confused as they were. “But I’m hoping they’ll explain the situation.”
“We’ll show you the situation.” Grin grasped his female’s hand and led them around the structure. “Our domicile is in the center of the settlement.”
They headed in that direction.
“That’s the safest site for a domicile.” Raw gripped his female’s fingers also and followed them.
Strive trailed behind them. He was acutely aware of his unmatched status, and that clawed at his heart. He had always been out of spec. But now he was out of spec and lonely.
“The center of the settlement is the most protected location within it.” Grin’s modification of Raw’s statement was significant.
The domicile required extra defenses.
Strive perused the structure as they approached it. It appeared sturdy. Grin wouldn’t design a domicile that wasn’t durable.
Another set of perimeter alarms circled the building. Lights flashed and beeps sounded as Grin opened the door and they stepped over the threshold.
The interior was fully illuminated. There was a large central chamber with smaller chambers branching out from it. In the middle of that space was a water feature.
Strive approached it. At the base of the water feature were stones. Every second stone was engraved. He studied them. The design was his.
Except it had been altered slightly. He frowned. The flowers were the same. As were the twining vines. But there were five leaves on the first stone instead of the eight depicted in his fabrication, and the leaves on that stone were bigger.
His lips twisted. The modification damaged the composition.
He walked around the water feature. The third engraved stone hosted seven leaves. They were a similar size to his original piece. The fifth stone displayed nine leaves. Those leaves were the same size as his design.
The sequence then repeated. Five leaves. Seven leaves. Nine leaves. Five leaves. Seven leaves. Nine leaves.
Five leaves. Eight leaves. He stopped and gazed closer at that stone. It was set differently than the others. There was 0.9878 percent more space around it.
“You detected it immediately.” Grin moved beside him.
“You said he’d find it.” Grin’s female stood beside her male.
“It’s his design.” Grin shrugged. “That was an easy projection.”
“The modifications were intentional.” That eased some of Strive’s irritation. “You wanted me to find this stone.” He tilted his head, studying it.

Strive’s Affliction As Seen By Others
In Grin And Bare Him, Grin talks about how Strive lost control of his emotional system and attacked five Palavian warriors.
That IS how that situation could have been perceived, when seen by other beings.
But it isn’t truly what happened.
Strive’s visual system, auditory system, and monitoring systems failed. He surged forward, hoping to reactivate them. And he found himself in the middle of the group of the Palavian warriors (who then proceeded to hack his arms off).
Strive wasn’t attacking anyone. He didn’t correct Grin’s misconceptions, however, because the truth is far more mortifying.
