Interview With Christine d’Abo
I sat down (virtually) with Christine d’Abo for a short interview. Christine d’Abo writes hot erotic romances for Carina Press, Ellora’s Cave and a zillion other awesome publishers. She’s a great writer and an even better friend. She’s helped me so many times with my own stories. Her latest release is Sexcapades.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Sexcapades?
Christine d’Abo: The Internet provides people with so many different opportunities, not only to learn things, but to reach out and connect with people we wouldn’t normally be able to. Sexcapades is a story that explores what happens when real life collides with the online world, and two people learn that not everything is as simple as they’d like to think.
This story let me mix humor with a touch of mystery, and a whole lot of hot sex. The combination turned out to be a lot of fun and a steamy story.
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Sexcapades?
Christine d’Abo: This one came about because of some of my own relationships with people online. I’ve made friends worldwide who I wouldn’t have had an opportunity to meet otherwise. I’ve shared rooms with them, meals, have had personal conversations about topics I wouldn’t necessarily share with my family. I wanted to tell a story about a relationship that had its basis in the online world, and explore the challenges they would face when they finally met.
Cynthia Sax: What makes Petra and Darcy right for each other?
Christine d’Abo: I’m a firm believer in the idea that opposites attract. Petra is a series of contradictions—she wants to be the confident sex-goddess she know is buried somewhere inside her, but lacks the experience to make that happen. Darcy deals with real life issues on a daily basis, as a part of his day job. Together (both with their online personas and in their real lives) they provide the balance that they were missing.
Cynthia Sax: Is Sexcapades a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
Christine d’Abo: Yes I am! Petra’s best friend Alice disappears halfway through Sexcapades. While she loves her best friend, Alice has an adventure of her own happening at the same time. Her story is called Wonderland, and will be out this October from Carina Press.
Thank you, Christine d’Abo, for joining us today!

Petra Clark’s blog Sexcapades inspires women to embrace sexuality. What readers don’t know is that her advice isn’t based on personal experience. Despite erotic fantasies about the hot guy at her local coffee shop, social anxiety keeps Petra from connecting with real men in the real world. She’s more comfortable as PC, sparring online with her nemesis, the cocky D. Williams.
Counselor by day, blogger by night, Darcy Williams gets a thrill countering PC’s female-friendly advice with a macho slant. And when both blogs are nominated for an award, he’s intrigued by the chance to finally meet the woman who’s been driving him wild with her Sexcapades.
When Petra runs into her coffee-shop crush at the awards party, sparks fly–and so do their clothes. Only after multiple orgasms does she realize who Darcy really is: the competition. Now they’re facing accusations of fraud, with stalking and blackmail thrown in. But perhaps most frightening of all are the feelings growing between them…

Interview With Denysé Bridger
I sat down (virtually) with Denysé Bridger for a short interview. Denysé Bridger writes hot erotic romances for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Reckless Assignation.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Reckless Assignation?
Denysé Bridger: Several things make this particular story exciting and fun. To start with, it’s set during Halloween, and that is also part of the backdrop for the seduction and adventure, as well as the lesson being taught to the heroine. This story is a bit different from many I write in that we have an older, worldly hero, and a younger, idealistic heroine. He’s given up a dangerous but exciting lifestyle/work, and she’s growing into a strong and confident woman as their relationship deepens and grows.
Cynthia Sax: Where is Reckless Assignation set?
Denysé Bridger: The setting is an abandoned, crumbling hotel, one that is reputed to be haunted by the ghosts of murdered people. It’s exciting because in the opening scene we establish that the heroine is being lured by the hero – for a sensual seduction, but also as a way for him to teach her the dangers of being led by her curiosity.
He’s gone to endless trouble to plan a romantic tryst that is filled with surprises, and lots of atmosphere. The trappings of Halloween were a lot of fun to write, creating the spooky atmosphere with oil lamps, candles, cobwebs, things that go bump in the night… The hero also has plans to introduce his partner to some new ways to have fun, and when he first makes contact with her, he blindfolds her, ties her to a chair and things get hot very quickly.
The thriller element comes into play when the happy couple is visited by someone from the hero’s past, someone with a deadly score to settle. That’s also where the paranormal element emerges…
Cynthia Sax: What do you love about writing paranormal erotic romances?
Denysé Bridger: In any paranormal one of the most fun aspects of it is the impossible becomes possible, first and foremost. Paranormal lends itself to atmosphere and romanticism on many levels, and there is never a wrong way to create a vampire, or a shifter, or a ghostly encounter. Even demons and angels can be so multi-layered, and so romantic if you sharpen the traditional elements that make romance so appealing.
Cynthia Sax: What goals have you set for 2013?
Denysé Bridger: The goal for 2013 is actually a three-parter, with at least a couple of the “wishes” standing a chance of being fulfilled. One, I want to finally work with a good agent, and have the perfect book for it – I hope! Secondly, once commitments from last year are cleared up, I have set myself the task of creating at least one new novel, though ideally it will be two. One is a fantasy set in Sicily, and the second one is a paranormal involving angels. Last wish is the least likely, I’d love to have my favourite model on the cover of one of the new books! So, here’s hoping!!

A haunted and abandoned hotel on Halloween is the setting for a very private party between two lovers, one of them a world-class, sophisticated intelligence operative who’s trying to teach his young and innocent lady that curiosity can sometimes take you places you’d be better not to go. Amid elaborate trappings meant to scare and entice, Rick’s seduction takes some unexpected but wickedly wonderful twists. But, Rick also has a lesson to learn, when his past collides with his present, and almost destroys everything he cherishes most.

Interview With Jan Springer
I sat down (virtually) with Jan Springer for a short interview. Jan Springer writes hot paranormal erotic romances for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Passionate Ink. I LOVED this story!
Cynthia Sax: Does Calder, your hero in Passionate Ink, have a secret?
Jan Springer: Oh yes my yummy hero has a couple of secrets. Calder is actually a shape shifter but Cat, my heroine has no idea who he is. For all she knows, he’s a hot guy looking for a tentacle tattoo on his…most private part! She doesn’t know that at night he turns into part human and part Octopus – an Octoposeidon. He has lots of tentacles at night and that makes for some scorching tentacle sex. *wink* He also realizes that my heroine Cat has no idea she is about to come into her Change…she has no idea she is also an Octoposeidon!
Cynthia Sax: Will Passionate Ink be the first story in a new series?
Jan Springer: At first I didn’t think it would be a series, but now I am toying with at least one sequel and maybe more. The outline phase is now in progress for the sequel to Passionate Ink, so I will see where it goes. I would like to keep the tattoo and tentacle aspects throughout the next book(s).
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Jan Springer: The biggest piece of advice I would give to writers is to keep writing and keep learning your craft. Whether you are indie-publishing or looking toward the traditional route, just keep pumping out those stories because for the readers who love your stories they will want more and more! Before you know it, you will have a wonderful reader base who eagerly look for more of your books.
Cynthia Sax: What do you love about writing paranormal erotic romances?
Jan Springer: I love using my imagination. The more challenging the story the more it grips my attention and makes me want to keep writing it. The way I see it if it holds my attention, chances are it will capture the reader’s heart as well.
Thank you, Jan Springer, for joining us today!

Interview With J.K. Coi
I sat down (virtually) with J.K. Coi for a short interview. J.K. Coi writes hot, emotional paranormal erotic romances for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Forever Immortal. I read J.K.’s Immortal series when it was previously released, absolutely raved over them then, and now she’s tweaked them so they’re even better. I didn’t think that was even possible!
Cynthia Sax: What makes your Gideon sexy?
J.K. Coi: The thing I love about Gideon is the very fact that he thinks he’s NOT hero material. He’s a scientist at heart who only ever wanted to bury himself in the lab. And the reality is that he failed miserably at being a warrior, making a devastating mistake early on that cost someone special her life. Since then, he thinks he has to let go of the scientist if he’s going to redeem himself, and so he’s trained and trained and trained until he can barely remember the person he used to be.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Forever Immortal?
J.K. Coi: I love this story because the hero and heroine are so feisty. They play off each other with bravado and wit, and sparks fly like crazy. I also love it because it’s the fourth book in the series and brings a lot of the characters from the first book back together. And although I thought it would be the last book, now I know there’s more for me to write!
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Forever Immortal and why?
J.K. Coi: “Human or not, we all have a demon inside us somewhere,” Gideon pressed. “It doesn’t make you a monster unless you can’t control it.”
“That’s the thing,” she whispered. “I don’t know that I can.”
He sighed. “Then that’s where we have a problem.”
I don’t know why I love this scene in the story so much, but it really shows how hard Gideon is fighting to help Lyssa, not only because she’s the mistake he has to fix – but because he sees himself in her. If she’s a monster who can’t be redeemed, what hope is there for him?
Cynthia Sax: What creates conflict between Gideon and Lyssa?
J.K. Coi: Gideon is a warrior charged with protecting the human realms from the demons who have escaped their eternal prison. Five years ago he was new to the job and when he chased down a particularly nasty demon, he made a huge mistake which put a woman in the crossfire. Now she’s returned, but she’s no longer human and he’s torn between wanting to help her, and doing what he knows he has to do…

Eight years ago, science and reason ruled Gideon Bennett’s life. Until the death of an Immortal triggered a physical transformation, forcing him out of the laboratory and into a world of violence for which he was ill-prepared. Now a seasoned warrior, he is still haunted by his one massive failure—and the face and body of the woman he couldn’t save.
Lyssa James wasn’t looking for trouble when she set out to enjoy a night on the town. Instead she got a first-class ticket to a demon Hell dimension where she was trapped for eight long years. Now she’s finally escaped…only to run into the man who failed her. The passion between them is instant and irresistible, but neither of them is the same person they were eight years ago. And even as they battle with their desire, one of the nastiest demons from the Abyss is on the loose, threatening not only their lives but the future of humanity.

Interview With Wylie Snow
I sat down (virtually) with Wylie Snow (no relation to Jon Snow from Game Of Thrones) for a short interview. Wylie Snow has self-published her first wonderful romance, Game On, and I love her to bits! (big hugs)
Cynthia Sax: What makes Luc sexy?
Wylie Snow: Countless hours of training give athletes a heightened sense of body awareness and it affects the way they move. Luc, despite a crippling injury, carries himself with grace and a self-assuranced confidence that Clara is immediately drawn to. But that’s not his only sexy feature. I fell in book-lust with him as soon as he began bantering with his best friend, Riley. Luc is the kind of guy every man wants for a drinking buddy and every girl wants in her bed.
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Game On?
Wylie Snow: A cousin of mine lost her sense of smell after a head injury. I’d never heard of ‘anosmia’ before, but became fascinated after doing some research. Olfactory nerves, once severed as a result of a head trauma, rarely heal. How much would it suck to never again smell freshly cut grass or sheets off the clothesline. Or worse… cinnamon buns, melting chocolate, baking bread!
Don’t ask actor Bill Pullman if he likes your perfume because he couldn’t tell you. And Ben Cohen, of ice cream duo Ben & Jerry’s, is a congenital anosmiac, meaning he was born without a sense of smell. He’s the one who insisted on large chunks in their products to improve his perception of flavor.
Cynthia Sax: Where is Game On set?
Wylie Snow: The story begins in sultry Miami (Is there a more sexy city in the US? I don’t think so!) but the blog tour takes Luc and Clara to Boston, Pittsburg, New York, Chicago, and Washington. Clara, who’s from England, finds the American experience wonderfully exciting,…especially the hotel suites 😉
Cynthia Sax: Does super sexy Luc have a secret?
Wylie Snow: The hero, Luc Bisquet, is a former pro-hockey player. It’s no secret that a gunshot to the knee ended his career, but what the sports world doesn’t know is that since his injury, he suffers debilitating anxiety attacks. He avoids crowds and the thought of setting foot in a hockey arena paralyses him with fear. He watches every game on his home media center and conducts all interviews by phone. It’s one thing to dupe his employers, but Clara finding out would kill him.
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Wylie Snow: I would tell new writers that writing the book may seem like the hardest part, but it’s not. Rewriting the book is when the real work starts. And the magic

Interview With Lisa Carlisle
I sat down (virtually) with Lisa Carlisle for a short interview. Lisa Carlisle writes hot paranormal erotic romances for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Rock Me Tonight.
Cynthia Sax: What makes Nico sexy?
Lisa Carlisle: Nico is a software engineer by day—a total computer geek. But by night, he unleashes his wild side as a singer of a hard rock band. He’s also into reading and writes songs based on books he’s read. What’s sexier than a literary rock star?
Cynthia Sax: Why does Rock Me Tonight start where it does?
Lisa Carlisle: Rock Me Tonight begins where my last book, Fiery Nights, ends. It’s at the underground goth club Vamps where humans and supernatural characters interact. I loved writing the same rock scene from a different viewpoint. First, from a woman having a sexy song sung, dedicated by her lover, and then from a woman watching the event, wondering what it was like to have someone so into you they would do something as romantic as that.
Cynthia Sax: Where is Rock Me Tonight set and why is this setting exciting?
Lisa Carlisle: My series Underground Encounters is based on the setting. The goth club Vamps is hidden in a sleepy coastal village north of Boston. It’s popularity spreads by word-of-mouth, catering to humans or supernatural characters who don’t fit with the everyday world. Many of them feel like freaks, but feel free to express themselves however they like at the club. They wear all kinds of sexy, black outfits and fetish-wear, letting go of their everyday work selves in a setting that encourages them to be themselves.
For instance, Nike and Maya are the heroines in my first two books, Smoldering Nights and Fiery Nights. They are firefighters by day, working in a very male-dominated field. On their nights off, they like to peel off their shapeless firefighting gear to wear slinky outfits and decompress in a setting where they’re free to dance and be free. Yet in each of their stories, they meet someone who turns a night out dancing into a lifechanging event.
In Rock Me Tonight, Lily goes with her friend to Vamps for the first time to celebrate a new promotion. Allie tells her to keep an open mind and not judge. But when Lily hears the seductive voice of the man crooning on stage, she has to get a better look. And when she sees Nico, well you can guess her reaction!
Cynthia Sax: I love secrets! Do any of your characters have a secret?
Lisa Carlisle: Yes, Lily is a shapeshifter who hates her furry little secret. She tries desperately to fit in as a human and hides her monthly change from humans, avoiding getting too close to anyone. When she meets Nico and he wants more than just a sexual fling with her, Lily must decide if she can trust him with her secret. The consequences could be disastrous.
Thank you, Lisa Carlisle, for joining us today!

Lily Everett harbors a secret she’s certain no one will understand. She needs sex, but won’t consider a permanent relationship. When she meets the singer of a rock band at an underground nightclub, she’s disarmed by his sensual voice and mischievous good looks. After an icy introduction, Lily warms up to Nico’s charms.A computer geek by day, Nico dons a rock singer persona by night. He’s tired of women pursuing him just because he’s in a band—the sex may be handy, but he wants something more. He’s intrigued by Lily’s reticence.
Keeping her emotional distance proves difficult the more Lily uncovers the intelligent, considerate man hiding behind Nico’s bad boy persona. Their encounters are hot-hot-hot, but Nico wants more from Lily than sex. When Lily lets down her guard and reveal her other side, Nico’s shock destroys their closeness and they both doubt they can overcome their differences.

Interview With N.J. Walters
I sat down (virtually) with N.J. Walters for a short interview. N.J. Walters writes hot time travel romances for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Strands of Love. I absolutely adore N.J. She not only is a talented writer but she’s a huge supporter of new writers.
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Strands of Love?
N.J. Walters: The Tapestries series originally began back in 2005 because I wanted to try my hand at writing a ménage at trois story. I had a heroine in mind but didn’t know what her story was going to be. About the same time, I ran across a book on Medieval tapestries and the two ideas came together. I decided that there would be a tapestry infused with magic, one that would take single, unattached women to another world, one where they have the potential to thrive. But their choice of whether to remain with the warriors of Javara or return home to their own world wouldn’t always be an easy one.
With Strands of Love I wanted to shake things up a bit. So this time, not only does the heroine travel to Javara, but the two warrior brothers end up on a modern day Texas farm. It was interesting to see how they reacted when plucked from their world and thrust into an entirely new one. Up until now, it’s basically been the women doing all the adjusting. Now all of them need to search their hearts to decide what they truly want out of life.
Cynthia Sax: Why does Strands of Love start where it does? ?
N.J. Walters: The story opens with the heroine Samantha Calloway at the bank trying to get a loan. Both her parents have died in the past few years and her brother was killed while serving overseas. She’s the last Calloway and determined to hold on to her family legacy—the farm that’s been in her family for several generations. And she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Sam is no stranger to hard work and challenges. Her entire life has been about working the land alongside her family until one by one they are all gone. Now the bank has turned her down for a much needed loan, her fast-talking, cheating ex is trying to get her to sell, and she’s discovered two strange men wandering her land. Sam’s life just got a whole lot more interesting and complicated.
I started the story here because it shows that Sam has a deep connection to her home and community. That makes her choices later on all the harder.
Cynthia Sax: What creates conflict between Sam, Darian and Jace?
N.J. Walters:The conflict comes from several different places. When Sam finds herself in Javara she won’t believe she’s in another world and thinks Darian and Jace have kidnapped her. They have to get her to believe what they are telling her is the truth and help her understand the magic of the tapestry—they have three days until it reappears and she must choose either them or her home. Then there is the fact that both Jace and Darian are competing sexually for her favor. In Javara women are scarce and brothers must share, but only one of them can marry her and claim the children as his own.
There is conflict among the brothers as well, especially because in this book there is a twist and they end up in Sam’s world for a time. They are faced with hard choices—their loyalty to their land and their family and their growing love for Sam.
Cynthia Sax: Will there be more stories in the delicious Tapestries series?
N.J. Walters: Strands of Love will probably be the last Tapestries book. I hadn’t originally planned on writing a series when I wrote the first book—Christina’s Tapestry—but I fell in love with the characters and the land of Javara and couldn’t stop. But I think that after seven books it’s time to end it. It’s hard to do because I love writing the Tapestries stories so much, and I know readers love them too.
Thank you, N.J. Walters, for joining us today!

Seventh in the Tapestries series.
Samantha Calloway is desperately working to keep her farm from financial ruin. It’s the only thing she has left from her deceased family and she’s determined to make it a success at any cost.
Darian and Jace Hunter live in a world where women are in short supply and brothers must share. The magic tapestry has always brought a potential tapestry bride to Javara, but this time it transports the two brothers to a strange land.
When Samantha finds two strangers on her land she doesn’t believe their stories of magic tapestries and other worlds. But when she suddenly finds herself in Javara, she doesn’t know what to believe. And when the tapestry transports them all back to her farm, Sam has a choice. She must decide if she will be true to her family and their legacy or if she will abandon it all for a chance at love.

Interview With Shona Husk
I sat down (virtually) with Shona Husk for a short interview. Shona Husk writes hot, hot, HOT SciFi erotic romances for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Lunar Exposure. It looks delicious. You know I love SciFi erotic romances!
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Lunar Exposure?
Shona Husk: This is my first scifi, so it was a totally new experience for me. I usually write paranormal romance and while there is some world building (and even alternate worlds to build like the Shadowlands and Annwyn) it is still different to building alien civilizations and futuristic tech. But I love making things up so I had a lot of a fun with that aspect. The other part I really love is bounty hunters! My hero and heroine are bounty hunters and they are after the same man and both have very good reasons for wanting him (aside for the chits). So while they can’t keep their hands off each other, professionally they are at odds.
Cynthia Sax: Why does Lunar Exposure start where it does?
Shona Husk: The first scene is the hero, Callen, arriving at Decadent Moon. The story is about him trying to catch the villain who wants to blow up the Moon, starting earlier wouldn’t have added to the story. This way the reader gets to arrive at the resort with the hero and see it through his eyes—as a flashy place he can’t really afford but he really wants to get Noga and he really needs the bounty as he took out a slightly dodgy loan to get to the Moon. It’s through Callen’s eyes that we also see Haliday for the first time and he sees exactly what she wants him to. I did consider starting in Haliday’s POV with her arrival at the Moon but it’s a place where she fits in and because I was introducing the reader to an alien resort I thought that the best way to do that was through Callen. Plus we get to learn really fast what the danger is, something not even Haliday knows yet…
Cynthia Sax: Does Haliday in Lunar Exposure have a secret?
Shona Husk: My heroine has a big secret, one that could get her killed if anyone found out. It’s also what drives her every action from her need to hunt down criminals to the way she donates most of her reward chits to the orphanages on her homeworld. She isn’t living a double life for fun, she has to.
Cynthia Sax: Is Lunar Exposure part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
Shona Husk: I have already written a couple more stories set on Decadent Moon and they are with my editor (so my fingers are crossed). And I have a couple more planned. There are so many stories that can be told there, and so many aliens to create and explore 🙂
Thank you, Shona Husk, for joining us today!

Bounty hunter Callen wants to capture Noga—a terrorist—both for the money and for revenge. But catching a criminal on the sensual resort of Decadent Moon without giving in to all the destination’s sexual pleasures is harder than it seems.
Haliday is the darling of the media, a socialite known as much for her casual relationships as she is for her charitable donations. No one knows she hunts down criminals.
Lust and ambition clash, and Callen and Haliday will have to find a way to work together, despite the distraction of their passionate bond. To succeed they must trust each other, something neither Callen nor Haliday is willing to do.

Interview with A.S. Fenichel
I sat down (virtually) with A.S. Fenichel for a short interview. A.S. Fenichel writes steamy paranormals for Ellora’s Cave and her latest release is Kane’s Bounty.
Cynthia Sax: What makes Kane, your hero in Kane’s Bounty, sexy?
A.S. Fenichel: He’s smart, rough around the edges, honest and a bad ass. He rescues a stranger because it’s right. Okay, so I have a little crush.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Kane’s Bounty?
A.S. Fenichel: Kane’s Bounty deals with trust, betrayal, integrity, and of course falling in love with the wrong person. I’ll admit that I get excited when a relationship that should not work does and I love to dig around to discover why. I hope you will too.
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Kane’s Bounty?
A.S. Fenichel: It’s so hard to choose just one. This is near the beginning of the story. Keep in mind that Kane is telepathic. “If you don’t change your line of thinking, I’m going to take you right here in this plane and I would much rather wait until we are in some nice beach-side hotel with crisp white sheets and vodka in the mini-bar.“
Cynthia Sax: How does Kane’s Bounty start?
A.S. Fenichel: Kane is a bounty hunter and Lena is the fugitive who he has tracked to a bar in Savannah, Georgia. He’s biding his time to pick her up when another bounty hunter attempts to jump in and take her. Things get out of control when the bar erupts into a big fight. A sense of panic in the room tells Kane it’s time to make his move.

Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
A.S. Fenichel: Never ever give up and hone your craft. I guess that’s two pieces of advice, but they go hand in hand. If you’ve had rejections, don’t sweat it. Keep writing and keep submitting. All the while, make sure you’re getting better as a writer. This career is a journey not a destination. You will never be done learning how to write better. That’s what makes it the best possible job. Keep learning, keep writing and one day you will get “the call”. Then it’s champagne and chocolate for everyone.

Telepathic bounty hunter Kane has one rule—never get involved with a fugitive.
