Interview With Kacey Hammell
I sat down (virtually) with Kacey Hammell for a short interview. Kacey Hammell writes steamy erotic romances and her latest release is PRANK ME, a sexy contemporary erotic romance.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about PRANK ME?
Kacey Hammell: I’m excited for readers to enjoy it. I had a lot of fun writing this story. It’s carefree, fun, exciting and not rife with a lot of conflict. The characters are who they are – always up for a good time – and are also about the bonds of friendship. It was such an ease to write this story. I love short stories. They really rejuvenate the Muse.
Cynthia Sax: How does PRANK ME start?
Kacey Hammell: It starts with a scene between the heroine, Lark, and her best friend, Bobby. They’ve been friends since college, work together and would call upon one another for anything. Which Bobby does! *g* Through the first chapter, we get a feel for who these characters are, the bond they have, and how fun they both are.
Cynthia Sax: Is PRANK ME a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
Kacey Hammell: It wasn’t written intentionally with a sequel/series in mind, but the idea is always out there IMO for any story to evolve / revisit again down the road. Bobby might need his own story one day! I’ve learned to never say never when it comes to my characters. LOL
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Kacey Hammell: Never ever give up. No matter how many rejections you receive, no matter how many times you have to re-write a story, never give up. If you have writing dreams and goals, continually work your craft, research and surround yourself with wonderful critique partners who will tell you like it is. Just never give up, no matter how many bumps in the journey you face.
Thank you, Kacey Hammell, for joining us today!

Interview with Milly Taiden
I sat down (virtually) with Milly Taiden for a short interview. Milly Taiden writes hot erotic romances and her latest release, The Bratty Lioness Tamer, is included in The Sin Circus anthology.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about The Bratty Lioness Tamer?
Milly Taiden: One of the biggest excitements for me about The Bratty Lioness Tamer is that it is my FIRST FFM short. I had so much fun writing this and it is oh so sexy, if I do say so myself. All the stories in the antho are but I think I went a bit overboard in the naughty kitty side LOL. And the fun part is that it’s not even my paranormal side which I can rock those shifters like there’s no tomorrow.
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for The Bratty Lioness Tamer?
Milly Taiden: Well to be honest my editor extraordinaire who put it all together and came up with the idea gave me a hint about the lion tamer and I went with it. I had a lot of fun but I have to say it was strange writing about a lioness tamer that wasn’t with shifters. I think that has to be a first. So I made sure to keep it sexy in other ways. You’ll have to read it to see.
Cynthia Sax: Where is The Bratty Lioness Tamer set?
Milly Taiden: My story is set in a circus. It is a sex circus so DEFINITELY sexy and exciting. I loved making it a live show where people got to watch my couple in the act LOL. It was loads of fun to write.
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Milly Taiden: Get a good editor. I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing ones and a great editor makes all the difference. They can take your story from looking good to being unforgettable. Everyone who thinks they are good enough to not need one are probably in dire need of one. Editors look at your story as a whole. They make it shine. Your baby might need an overhaul and only a good editor will help you do that and keep the integrity of your work. So buck up, get a great editor and get to work!
Thank you, Milly Taiden, for joining us today!

Interview With Sam Cheever
I sat down (virtually) with Sam Cheever for a short interview. Sam Cheever writes hot erotic romances and her latest release is Tall, Dark & Apocalyptic, a sexy Post-Apocalyptic Paranormal romance.
Cynthia Sax: How does Tall, Dark & Apocalyptic start?
Sam Cheever: Tall, Dark & Apocalyptic, as the title implies, is a post-apocalyptic romance. This story is actually based in the world of a previous story, which I hope to re-release under my own imprint in 2014. The twist of the first story was two mage hunters trying to find and stop a dark witch who was dabbling in powerful death magic to create a new kind of zombie…a near perfect human specimen. These zombies, called reborns in the book, are beautiful, smart, and dangerous because they allow the dark witch access to places a traditional zombie can’t go.
I carried that premise to a new level with TD&A. What if one of the zombies and one of the hunters fell in love? The idea has a set of built-in conflicts (see below) and the forbidden love aspect is a powerful aphrodisiac.
In the opening scene of the book, Yeira is badly injured and trying to escape as Audie hunts her. Here’s a little taste:
Yeira clawed her way across the floor, her limbs locking and clamping as horrific pain wracked her slim frame. A fresh blade of agony speared through her as she struggled to crawl just another sliver of space. The pain jolted her to a stop as she sucked in a breath, sending her into a coughing spasm. Blood sprayed the floor as she crawled. Her dazed, blue gaze stared down at the bright droplets arrayed before her over the oily rock and she knew a stark moment of pure fear.
What if she didn’t make it in time?
Beyond the thick, concrete walls of her hideaway, the sound of explosions and chaos were a constant drone, an unrelenting impetus pushing her ever forward.
With a monumental effort of will, Yeira gritted her teeth and dug her fingers into the gritty surface beneath them, dragging herself another inch.
She barely noticed the spark of pain as her soft, exposed belly was ripped open by shards of debris on the battle-ravaged floor. Her goal was a mere five inches away.
She thought she could make it.
She had to.
Yeira closed her eyes as agony washed through her again and lunged another inch. Her fingertips stretched…strained…mere inches from the leather strap.
The world beyond the door exploded and Yeira’s head snapped around. The blast had sounded close. Too close. Panic made her heart pound. “No!” Tears filled her eyes as something heavy hit the door. He’d found her.
With a cry of desperation, Yeira dug her toes into the concrete and shoved. The pain erupted in a burst that made her vision gray. She screamed as agony gripped her gut with icy needles, tearing and dislodging the ordered cells of her flesh.
Yeira fell onto her back, her fingers clenching against the torment. Warm, thick blood drenched her lips, dripping down her chin.
The door blasted inward, sending smoke and shrapnel through the room and driving the razor-sharp projectiles into her flesh.
On some level, Yeira felt the pain of the tiny missiles piercing her skin. But she was in the grip of a misery so complete that her mind could barely form a thought. All she could do was scream, her fingers closing convulsively around the thin strap of leather she’d been fighting to reach.
Yeira’s gaze slid to the large shape framed in the door. He was nothing more than a gray haze behind the smoke. A vision of massive male, whose form all but filled the ragged hole that had once been the door.
A fine vision.
Yeira shook her head, offended by the thought even in her tortured state. No! The man was there to kill her. She couldn’t lose sight…
The enormous figure shimmered and she realized he was moving closer. On some level Yeira knew she needed to move. But the pain had finally receded as her body gave out. It felt good not to be wracked with it. For just a moment she longed to lie there, enjoying the numbness, and let her life slip away.
Death. Her fingers moved along the leather strip in her hand. Oblivion would be bliss.
The sound of his footsteps across the littered floor was like a series of canon blasts, and she blinked under every one. His massive arms arched from his sides as he walked, the huge hands open, fingers gently curved. He held a long knife in one hand. Thick, muscular legs stuck out from underneath a bloody and tattered kilt, the burgundy and black pattern barely visible under the filth of an extended battle.
Yeira noted the blade in his hand, knowing it was meant for her.
He stopped a foot away, his intense, dark-blue gaze sweeping over her. “My god, woman. You look like hell.”
Yeira’s lips opened and something gurgled in her throat. She thought it might be a death rattle, but it emerged as a laugh. She licked her lips as he cocked his head. “Bite me, Sorceri.”
Amazingly his wide mouth turned upward in a smile. “I don’t swing that way, zombie.”
A dense cold crept up her legs, slipped along her spine. In another minute she would be completely numb. She wouldn’t even feel the knife he held down at his side as it sliced her head from her body. But though she was a breath away from dying, Yeira couldn’t help tweaking him one last time. “You haven’t got what it takes anyway, Kord.”
His smile slipped. The sexy gaze darkened. Yeira realized the smoke was clearing and she could see him in all his glory…a dark avenging angel sent to rip her from the living world. He inclined his dark head, the silky strands of black hair framing a square chin, dark with shadow even when cleanly shorn. “You could be right, woman. But…” He seemed to swallow. “There was a time I would have wished for a different outcome.”
Her eyes widened. A different kind of pain ripped her chest apart. She swore, her fingers closing over the slick, oblong object she sought.
So it was to be a death of a thousand cuts—the first cut deeply severing her heart?
She licked her dry lips. “I never wish, Sorceri. Wishing is for children and fools.” Holding his gaze with her own, she clutched the ancient bluestone in her fist and envisioned her lair. The air above her thinned, turning glossy, and her nemesis started to blur.
As his sexy gaze widened in realization, Yeira was brutally ripped from the battered castle. Her lips opened in a silent scream as the ascension tore her apart at a cellular level and sent her plummeting through the void between time.
But all was good Because the last thing she heard as her earthly form disintegrated, was the rage-filled roar of the deadly sexy Sorceri warrior as he realized she’d escaped him again.
Cynthia Sax: What creates trouble for Audie and Yeira?
Sam Cheever: As stated above, my characters are natural enemies. The hero, Audie, believes all reborn are evil and must be destroyed. In fact, as a Sorceri Bounty Hunter, destroying the heroine is his mission. But he doesn’t really understand the reborns in general, and he certainly particularly doesn’t understand the heroine, Yeira. She’s different from the other reborns, and she knows that the hunters have the wrong idea about her species, based on a jaundiced view of their creation. In TD&A, Yeira and Audie have to get beyond their instinctive distrust of each other and work together to take down the source of the death magic. They have the same goal, but totally different viewpoints about the outcome. And to make things even more complicated, Yeira and Audie struggle against an almost overwhelming passion for each other that they see as taboo. But as they work together to take down the dark witch, their feelings will become harder and harder to ignore.
Cynthia Sax: Does someone in Tall, Dark & Apocalyptic have a secret?
Sam Cheever: Reborn Yeira has a secret. She’s different from the other reborns but she doesn’t think the difference makes her better. She sees herself as a monster despite the fact that she’s risking everything to try to clear the world of the death magic and its tragic effects. The Sorceri hunters have shown a singular and remorseless hatred for all of the dark witch’s creations, and Yeira fears that Audie views her just like all the other reborns. Despite that fear, she doesn’t want him to know her secret because she thinks he’d hate her even more if he knew. This perception, fed by the fact that Audie himself is confused about his feelings toward her, creates a nearly impenetrable wedge between the two lovers.
Cynthia Sax: What do you love about writing Post-apocalyptic paranormals?
Sam Cheever: Paranormal is fun because there are no rules. It’s pure escapism. Anything goes in a fantasy/paranormal story as long as you can sell it to your reader. If it’s well written and presented realistically, your story can have green worm people with white goatees and cities built on the clouds with cars that run on strawberry Kool-Aid. It’s also a fairly passive genre. It’s fun and easy to just sit back and let the story unfold around you, infusing you with its unique flavor. For readers who like to get lost in a world that has no resemblance to their own, paranormal is definitely the ticket.
Post-apocalyptic paranormal is especially fun because everything is larger than life. Every moment, each task is a struggle, making human interactions particularly deep and powerful. In addition, the darker aspect of this type of paranormal lends a certain live for today because tomorrow you might be dead feeling that, if done well, draws readers in and holds them in thrall.

Interview with Tina Donahue
I sat down (virtually) with Tina Donahue for a short interview. Tina Donahue writes steamy erotic romances and her latest release is Seven Sensuous Days, Book Four in the Appointment with Pleasure series.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Seven Sensuous Days?
Tina Donahue: I love writing about people who’ve had a tough time with love, as most of us have had in the real world. That means that we haven’t been able to find it, or we’ve been hurt in the past.
In Seven Sensuous Days, Tessa’s more or less given up on anyone loving her. Although she’s pretty, she’s also curvy and had been bullied as a kid about her weight. That hurt is still with her. However, she’s one of the most upbeat characters I’ve ever written. Funny and sweet with a good heart. A year before the book begins, Logan lost everything he cherished. Now, he wants only to have a good time. He simply doesn’t trust anything else, especially intimacy. And then he meets Tessa. She reminds him of spring, all that’s good in the world, everything being renewed. However, that also frightens him badly. And so he resists.
I love the interplay between them, the depth of their characters, their yearning souls. They’re both good people who’ve finally found each other. J
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Seven Sensuous Days?
Tina Donahue: When Tessa arrives at Logan’s estate to begin her seven sensuous days, she says to him: “I’d like us to get to know each other a little bit before we, well, you know, do anything.”
This really sets the stage for their romance. Although she’s an escort and he’s a man who doesn’t want to get close, you just know that dynamic isn’t going to last. They’ve wanted each other too badly from the first moment they met. Logan resists and Tessa persists, lovingly tearing down his barriers, burrowing deeper into his heart, making him laugh, bringing his life back.
Good stuff.
Cynthia Sax: How does Seven Sensuous Days start?
Tina Donahue: It begins with an erotic auction sponsored by the agency where Tessa works. The proceeds are going to charity – mainly breast cancer research and academic scholarships for women. The mansion where the auction takes place has been decorated to look like a sultan’s lair. The men in the audience, all powerful and wealthy, bid on the lady of their choice, buying one evening or a full day of her time. The setup is rich and seductive with the women posed on stage, nude and in chains, as though they’re being sold at a slave auction.
I wanted to start Seven Sensuous Days with a bang, so to speak. However, while making it erotic, I also wanted Tessa’s personality to come out. Again, she’d been teased as a child about her weight. She’s still curvy. Like the redhead in Mad Men. She’s uncertain if anyone will bid on her. Then Logan comes along and what he does stuns Tessa and the audience. It sets into motion a romance that nothing can stop, not even Logan’s initial resistance.
Cynthia Sax: What is one aspect that makes Tessa and Logan right for each other?
Tina Donahue: They’re both good people. I know there will be those who think Tessa’s less than honorable for being an escort. However, she has her reasons. And she’s the finest person I’ve ever written. Logan’s the same, though he has lost his faith in anything good and lasting. She coaxes him back to trust, showing him there is a future, that love doesn’t always hurt. Without her, he would have drifted. With her, he’s found a home.
Cynthia Sax: Is Seven Sensuous Days a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
Tina Donahue: Yes, this is a series. Claiming Magique started it all. Losing Control is book two. Illicit Intent, book three. All of them sexy but also exceedingly romantic.
And yes, I will absolutely continue the series as long as my fans enjoy it. J
Thank you, Tina Donahue, for joining us today!
Tina Donahue’s Website: http://www.tinadonahue.com/
*****************************************************************************
At an erotic auction, she’s his to bid on…to take…to command.
The night’s sultry, filled with carnal promise as Tessa participates in an agency event to raise money for charity. She’s chained and bared—as women were once displayed for a sultan’s harem—her sweet looks and full figure offered to the wealthy and powerful men.
Among them is Logan. To him, Tessa is so different from his late wife, the seemingly perfect female who cruelly stole his hope and future. Wanting only to forget and have a good time, he wins Tessa, demanding she be his in every way possible, engaging in all wanton acts, though not only for an evening…for seven sensuous days at his secluded Virginia estate.
A provocative proposal with such a dangerously virile man.
A week that changes everything, with Tessa’s exquisite vulnerability and Logan’s suddenly unquenchable desire more than either bargained for.

Interview With Ayla Ruse
I sat down (virtually) with Ayla Ruse for a short interview. Ayla Ruse writes hot erotic romances and her latest release is Raspberries and Wine, a sexy Contemporary with BDSM elements.
Cynthia Sax: What excites you about Raspberries and Wine??
Ayla Ruse: I like that this story goes against the popular stereotype of the older woman being the experienced seductress to the younger man. Not every older woman has it “all together” when it comes to sexual experience. I like that Stacy thinks she should be this way, wants to be this way, but can’t quite reach that goal. I don’t want her to live a ho-hum life. She deserves to have a rich, fulfilling sexual side. All it takes is the right man to help her see, trust and pull out her inner strength and desires.
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Raspberries and Wine?
Ayla Ruse: Graham tells Stacy, “Turn around.” As words by themselves, it’s dull. But where it comes in the story is belly-clenching (at least, to me). Before this we see Stacy wanting Graham but not sure how to approach him. We see her warring internally—should she seduce him or ask him to leave? When her struggle is at its end point, we see the change in Graham. He knows when it’s time to take control, and we see this (as does Stacy, even if she doesn’t realize the full implication yet) in this one line.
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Raspberries and Wine?
Ayla Ruse: Whenever I’m developing an idea for a new story, I usually begin with conventional thought, then try to find a twist. How to make the norm a little different. The call for the Paramour collection was for an older woman/younger man relationship. Most people typically see the older woman seducing the younger man. But what if the dynamics are different? What happens then, and more importantly, why? From this seed of an idea came Raspberries and Wine.
Cynthia Sax: How does Raspberries and Wine start?
Ayla Ruse: Raspberries and Wine begins with the heroine, Stacy, getting ready to open the door to her Valentine’s Day date. She’s expecting an old high school crush. When she opens the door to his handsome son, she experiences a vast array of emotions: disappointment, attraction, and nervousness, to name a few. I started at this particular point because I want the reader to also experience these emotions and see that as the story progresses, Stacy is not as in control as she projects. This, in turn, allows both Stacy and the reader see and understand the underlying strength in Graham, and how important this affects their relationship.
Thank you, Ayla Ruse, for joining us today!
Ayla Ruse’s Website: http://www.aylaruse.com
*****************************************************************************
When Stacy opens her door on Valentine’s Day, it’s not to the man she expected, but to the man who’ll give her what she needs.
It’s Valentine’s day and newly liberated divorcee Stacy Dalton has a plan: seduce her former classmate and end the post-divorce intimacy drought. She’s cooked a meal, she’s dressed to the nines, and she is crossing her fingers that tonight she will not go to bed alone. There is a slight hiccup in the plan when it’s not her former classmate that shows up with an easy smile and a hungry look–but his drop-dead gorgeous son.
Twenty-nine year old Graham Rosen has always been attracted to older women. So making last-minute plans to take out his father’s cancelled date seems an effortless and enjoyable task–especially when he sees the sable-haired beauty who opens the door. Unfortunately, Stacy seems hung up on their age. Even after giving in to Graham’s erotic attentions, the beautiful cook refuses to acknowledge any possible future to their relationship.
Some women need a strong man–with an even stronger hand. Graham is no mere boy to shy away from a challenge and he is more than willing to show Stacy he’s serious about his desire for her beyond just one lustful night. But will his erotic discipline succeed in dissolving Stacy’s hesitations and bring her closer to him? Or will it scare her away?
Reader Advisory: This story involves a submissive older woman, a Dominant younger man, public foreplay, delicious food, and intense, meaningful spankings.

Interview With Wendi Zwaduk
I sat down (virtually) with Wendi Zwaduk for a short interview. Wendi Zwaduk writes hot erotic romances and her latest release is Drawn Together, a sexy Contemporary with one of my favorite kinks, voyeurism.
Cynthia Sax: What makes your hero, Graig, so damn sexy?
Wendi Zwaduk: He’s a former baseball player and a current coach at the high school level. Guys in uniforms are always sexy—especially when they are all muscles. I’ve had a thing for baseball players and when he started talking, I was happy to write his story. He’s not the jerk jock like some can be. He’s one of the few good guys who has athletic ability. Another thing that makes him sexy is his heart. He genuinely cares for others, even if he’s not always good at showing it. He tends to stumble over what he says, but it’s cute in a geeky way.
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Drawn Together?
Wendi Zwaduk: “If your crush is any kind of real man, then he’s an idiot if he passes you up. I doubt he will. But if he does, then there’s a whole room of hunky men out there. Don’t sell yourself short. You’re a very beautiful woman.”
I like this line—or rather, set of lines because it’s the heroine’s sister helping to build the heroine up. Tessa, my heroine, is a good person, but she’s very self-conscious and has low self-esteem. She needs someone to help prove she’s not the boring woman she sees in the mirror. This line is special to me because we all need that person to jumpstart the change we want to make. For Tessa, she needs someone else to say it before she can believe it. I think lots of people can relate to her struggle and would love to have someone remind them of how special they are.
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Drawn Together?
Wendi Zwaduk: The idea came from my days at the school teaching art. I was already married at the time, but I wondered what would happen if some of the teachers hooked up. I didn’t do much with my idea because I was focused on teaching. When I quit to raise my tot, I let the idea work some more. I pitched the general story to Kelli Collins over at Ellora’s Cave. She gave me lots of tips and suggested I contact her when I got it done. It took another year and a lot of polishing, but it finally went to an editor. Whitney saw promise in the story and helped me turn it from a submission to a finished work. I’m glad. Writing about teachers and the setting I knew so well was fun. I’m excited I get to go back to their world for two more stories.
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Wendi Zwaduk: Grow a thick skin, but be willing to learn. There will always be people out there ready to knock you down, but it’s how you get up that counts. Don’t be negative. Don’t bite back at anyone, even when you really want to. Never burn bridges and be willing to work for what you want. If you settle, then you’ll never get where you want to go. I know that’s a lot of advice, but it all works together.
Thank you, Wendi Zwaduk, for joining us today!

Except when they end up working in the same school, in the same hallway. Then all bets are off.

Interview With Declan Sands
I sat down (virtually) with Declan Sands for a short interview. Declan’s latest release is Oh! Hoaley Night!, a sexy Christmas story.
Cynthia Sax: What do you love about Oh! Hoaley Night!?
Declan Sands: I absolutely love the Christmas season. And I love small town mysteries, so what could be better than a small town mystery at Christmastime? Like many people, part of my history with the season involves traveling home to be with my family at Christmas. That was the inspiration for Oh! Hoaley Night!. In the first 3 books of the series, there wasn’t a lot of information about Adam’s family. He’s moved away from the small town in Southern Indiana where he was born and raised and rarely visits his parents. Adam and his dad haven’t always seen eye to eye on things and, rather than work things out, they’ve pretty much just avoided each other whenever possible. But, as we’ve all experienced, it’s hard to avoid each other during the holidays! This forced togetherness sometimes brings about revelations we might not otherwise have faced. That’s the setting for the story, but when Adam arrives in his home town of Candlelight, Indiana, things get even more complicated. There’s a dead body in the manger of the living crèche, and Adam’s dad appears to be the chief suspect.
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Oh! Hoaley Night!?
Declan Sands: My favorite line from the book is the opening line. Because it pretty much sums up how painful it can be spending extended family time during the holidays:
“That’s crazy talk, Ads. Visiting your family is not like being castrated with a rusty can opener.” #:0)
Cynthia Sax: Where is Oh! Hoaley Night! set?
Declan Sands: As I mentioned above, Oh! Hoaley Night! is set in a small town in southern Indiana at Christmastime. I’ve always loved writing about small towns. They’re a whole entity of their own. Just as a large city has a unique pulse and flavor, small towns have a totally different feel to them that I find fascinating. In a small town everybody knows everybody else, and probably has from birth onward. Most of the inhabitants of a small town have some kind of history with your characters and, probably due to the innate nosiness bred into this kind of setting, most people will have some kind of secret they’re trying to keep. It can make for really fascinating fiction, especially in a murder mystery!
Cynthia Sax: Is Oh! Hoaley Night! part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
Declan Sands: Oh! Hoaley Night! is Book 4 in my Hoale Construction Mysteries series. I’ll definitely be writing more books in this series, in fact I’ve already started penning the next one, tentatively entitled By All That’s Hoaley.
Thank you, Declan Sands, for joining us today!

Interview With Sabrina Darby
I sat down (virtually) with Sabrina Darby for a short interview. I LOVED Sabrina Darby’s The Short and Fascinating Tale of Angelina Whitcombe. Her latest release is Private Research, a sexy Contemporary Romance.
Cynthia Sax: What makes Sebastian so darn sexy?
Sabrina Darby: In the first chapter of Private Research, Mina describes Sebastian Graham: “He wasn’t traditionally handsome, at least not in an American way. Too lean, too angular, hair receding a bit at the temples, and I was fairly certain he was just shy of thirty.” However, what really attracts Mina to him is his intelligence. Sebastian is a mixture of math geek and elegant scion of English aristocracy.
Cynthia Sax: Where is Private Research set?
Sabrina Darby: The story takes place in contemporary England, primarily in London with a few excursions. Both Mina and Sebastian have their own research projects, and those projects take them to various places about England, into private homes, clubs, and archives. I think the hunt for information is exciting but is made even more so by their relationship and attraction to each other.
Cynthia Sax: Does anyone in Private Research have a secret? I LOVE secrets.
Sabrina Darby: Both Sebastian and Mina have secrets but probably the people whose secrets are most compelling are the ones who are peripheral to the romance: Anne Gracechurch and Madame Rouge. Anne’s secret is the mystery of whether or not the early 19th century novelist wrote three novels under a male pseudonym. Madame Rouge, much like the Dread Pirate Roberts, is a position that masks the real identity of the proprietress of the secret, underground club, Harridan House.
Cynthia Sax: Is Private Research part of a series and will you in be writing more stories in this series?
Sabrina Darby: Private Research is set in the same “world” as my erotic Regency novella collection, On These Silken Sheets. All four novellas revolve around an erotic club, Harridan House, and Private Research came out of the question, what happened to Harridan House. I’d love to write more stories in the Harridan House world, regardless of the time period.

Interview With B.J. McCall
I sat down (virtually) with B.J. McCall for a short interview. B.J. McCall writes hot erotic romances and her latest release is Trick or Treat: Demon Treat, a sexy Paranormal Romance.
Cynthia Sax: Why does Trick or Treat: Demon Treat start where it does?
B.J. McCall: The book begins in the fiery chambers of Perdition. Brabus is a Limbo, a soul that hasn’t transitioned and is only half demon. He sees Hekka all dressed up and ready to go to the surface to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve. Hekka isn’t into tricks. Her favorite treats are hunky human males. Although Hekka is a powerful Wicked and he’s a lowly Limbo, Brabus wants her. Ignoring the sage advice of Hekka’s enforcer, Brabus follows the sexy Wicked to the surface.
Cynthia Sax: Does a character in Trick or Treat: Demon Treat have a secret?
B.J. McCall: Brabus knows Hekka is on the prowl for human males to satisfy her needs. Using his human name of Lorcan, Brabus meets Hekka in Sweet Evil, her favorite club. He’s determined to be her holiday treat and seduces her without letting on that’s he’s a Limbo, the lowest rank in her domain.
Fooling a powerful Wicked like Hekka can have serious consequences, but bad behavior was what got Brabus into Perdition and he isn’t about to change his ways now. Besides, a sexy blonde is always trouble and trouble is always fun.
Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Trick or Treat: Demon Treat and why?
B.J. McCall: Hekka is a female demon used to getting what she wants. She exudes powerful pheromones and human males are usually putty in her hands. When Brabus takes the inititive and asks her to dance, Hekka tells him she doesn’t do hip-hop.
Brabus responds, “Once you press that fabulous body against me I won’t care what the DJ is playing and neither will you.”
From that moment, Hekka is hooked.
Cynthia Sax: Is Trick or Treat: Demon Treat a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
B.J. McCall: I have written another book set in my demon domain. Demon Seduction is Despina’s story. Even in Perdition a demon must ascend the ladder of power and Despina wants to be promoted to Hekka’s position. She’s given the challenge to go to the surface and reclaim a soul that a desperate last-minute prayer snatched away. The eternal battle for the human soul is great fodder for story telling. I plan to write more demon books.
Demon Seduction will be released in November by Changeling Press.

Demons come out of hiding on All Hallow’s Eve to play tricks, but Hekka’s preferred treats are hot, hunky human males. Her favorite club, Sweet Evil, is packed with treats and Hekka is on the prowl.
Brabus is new to the demon world. Although Hekka is a powerful demon and Brabus’ soul is still in limbo, he wants her for his own. It’s All Hallow’s Eve and Brabus isn’t above tricking Hekka into his arms.

Interview With Anne Kane
I sat down (virtually) with Anne Kane for a short interview. Anne Kane writes hot erotic romances (I LOVE her Imperial Were-panthers) and her latest release is Mercenaries 2: Running Scared, a sexy Futuristic Romance.
Cynthia Sax: What makes Jackson, the hero in Running Scared, sexy?
Anne Kane: Jackson may be a mercenary, but he has a heart of gold. He’s the only survivor of a government raid that wiped out his entire family, and he swore he’d never be that defenceless again. He’s spent the last few years of his life learning every weapon and hand-to –hand technique he can find. He joined the Kaeden’s mercenaries because he believes in what they stand for. The group had its own agenda and only take on contracts that they feel are worth fighting for. They make enough to survive on, and not much else. Not the most lucrative way to run a company, but then, money doesn’t mean a lot to people who’ve seen everything they love blown to bits. One of the things that attracted him to Saralyn is her dedication to finding her brother – he wishes he had someone left to find.
Cynthia Sax: Does a character in Running Scared have a secret?
Anne Kane: Well of course they do, but if I told you then it wouldn’t be a secret, now would it! I’ll tell you this much – it’s Saralyn’s secret and Jackson guesses it almost right from the beginning. He just can’t get her to admit that he’s right. Women can be so stubborn at times!
Cynthia Sax: Is Running Scared a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?
Anne Kane: This is book two of my Mercenaries series, and yes I will definitely be writing more in it. I love a man in uniform, I love guys who are loyal to each other and to their own code of honor, and I love it when I can give them the love that they deserve.
Cynthia Sax: What one piece of advice would you give new writers?
Anne Kane: Don’t give up! Believe in yourself! (That’s two pieces of advice, isn’t it) Everyone will give you advice, and often it is conflicting but just take what you like and leave the rest. I had my first story entered into two contests at the same time. It was ripped to shreds by a contest judge who had absolutely nothing good to say about it or my writing abilities, but then it won the other contest – first place with a publishing contest and a hefty advance. Remember that writing is an art and appreciation of art is subjective. What one person likes, another may hate. You certainly can’t please everyone. So long as you believe in yourself, and don’t give up you will eventually get to see your name on a published manuscript.
Thank you, Anne Kane, for joining us today!

She was a genetic experiment that was never supposed to get out of the lab. If the government finds her they will kill her without hesitation. Her memories of her early life are sketchy but the one clear image she has is of a brother who saved her life, and then disappeared.
Jackson knows what it’s like to lose your entire family in one bloody instant, and he vows to help Saralyn find hers. It doesn’t hurt that he finds her irresistibly sexy or that the attraction is mutual. They enlist the rest of the mercenary team in a search operation that takes them into the heart of the corrupt government.
