There is a AITA post floating around social media about a guy whose girlfriend offered to bake him a cake. He described the EXACT cake he wanted. She added a flavor of frosting he liked but didn’t want in that specific birthday cake. He refused to eat it.
I suspect (and this is just a guess) he views baking a cake as a standard task like mowing the lawn or emptying the waste bins. And she views baking a cake as art.
Artists, like bakers, writers, painters, actors, etc, aren’t so great at adhering to strict rules and expectations. We NEED flexibility. We NEED space for creativity. Many of us NEED to insert twists and surprises.
The more guidelines I receive regarding a story, for example, the less I want to write it.
If you, one of my wonderful reading buddies (big hugs), ask me to write Choice’s story, I’d be super eager to do that (and I will write it…soon). I won’t want to wait to get started on that bit of creativity.
If you (and I know you wouldn’t do this) ask me to write Choice’s story and you tell me he has to be matched with a Palavian male who is also a singer and they take on a mission to free artists from the Humanoid Alliance underground prisons and you give me a dozen other specifics, my muse will go on strike. I won’t want to write that story ever. It doesn’t matter how great it is.
I remember that when I work with other artists…and with bakers. I give them room to be creative.

Strive For Forever
This cyborg seeks to vanquish an ancient entity and save his curvy human female.
Euryale made a terrible mistake. She opened a container she shouldn’t have touched and released one of the oldest lifeforms in existence. That all-powerful entity is now utilizing her as its host body and is slowly draining her energy.
Soon, she’ll die.
Euryale has accepted this fate and is determined to use her remaining moments in the universe to save as many lives as she can.
Her plans do NOT include a smoldering-hot, poetry-wielding cyborg willing to decimate entire planets to save her.
While under the control of the Humanoid Alliance, Strive, a K Model cyborg, disobeyed direct orders and refused to kill on their behalf. If he hadn’t escaped their cruel clutches, his defiance would have led to his death.
The male knowingly risked that fate to save the lifespans of complete strangers.
There is nothing he wouldn’t do to protect Euryale. The curvy human female is his genetic match, the one being he is destined to defend.
And she is in danger.
Strive would break every vow, cross every boundary, risk absolutely everything to keep her from harm.
Including battle a deity no one has ever defeated.
