I’m sowing the tomato, bell pepper, and marigold seeds this week!
Yay! I’m so excited! I don’t have interesting photos as all we can see is dirt in containers. But, hopefully, life will be growing in our basement, under the grow lights (which are simply fluorescent lights with the correct lumins).
I started the tomato plants in red solo cups this year (with holes in the bottoms).
The yogurt cups (with holes in the bottoms) worked really well last year but that small size meant I had to transfer them to larger containers.
Experts on gardening videos were half filling red solo cups with soil, planting the tomato seeds, and then increasing the dirt as the tomato plants grew.
This meant the tomatoes had longer, stronger roots as they grew roots along their covered-with-soil stems.
I figured I’d try the same trick this year.
I started the marigolds in the same container I bought marigold plants in last year.
The bell peppers were started in the yogurt containers. (smiles) Those weren’t wasted!
