If you’re a writer or you have a writer on your holiday gift list, there are several items that might increase our joy as winter writers.
I love, love, LOVE fingerless gloves. These are exactly what they sound like – they are gloves or mittens with the fingers either never knitted or cut off. You can buy them in funky, fun designs. They are also super easy to make. Cut off a dollar store gloves’ fingers, hem the edges (in a way that doesn’t irritate the palms), and you have fingerless gloves!
I also found a sweater on deep clearance this year with fingerless gloves built into them. It is AMAZING. I wish I had bought 30 of them.
The writing cave can be dark and dreary during the winter so I invested in a $40 Canadian light therapy lamp. It simulates sunlight. I call this a grow light for humans. (grins) And it does seem to help a bit.
Many of my writing buddies rave about their mug warmers. It keeps their coffee or tea or other hot beverages hot while they’re typing furiously on that next great scene.
A nice lap blanket makes an awesome gift for winter writers. I also love fuzzy socks. There are SO many gifts winter writers would appreciate.

This cyborg will be the warrior his female requires.
