“There’s a 5.1236 percent probability Grin’s test will kill us all during the voyage.” Strive relayed that intel to Raw.
“There’s an 11.2589 percent probability my female will reject me.” Raw’s confident façade slipped for a heartbeat, revealing an uncertainty that unsettled Grin.
The male met the specs for their kind. That he doubted his worthiness doomed the rest of them.
“She’s your genetic match.” Grin reminded his friend. “And you’re a great warrior.”
“I am a great warrior.” The male squared his shoulders. “She might be busy with other tasks. That might be why she isn’t accepting my communications.”
That wasn’t a good sign for their relationship.
Grin exchanged another glance with Strive.
His friend inclined his head toward the beautiful panel he’d decorated.
Grin nodded, silently agreeing with that proposal.
“Give her this.” Strive handed the sheet of metal to Raw. “According to my research, many females like gifts, and they also like flowers. She’ll hang it in her private chambers and be reminded of you.”
Raw brought it close to his face and sniffed. “It smells like battle.” His lips curled upward. “I like it.”
“You like it because it smells like a gun?” Strive waved his hands at the panel. “Look at it. Note how realistic the flowers are, how the curve of the stems mirrors the curves of the blossom, the use of negative space and symmetry and—”
“It’s beautiful work.” Grin sought to repair the blow to his friend’s ego. “The design is one of the best you’ve ever fabricated. I’ve saved the image in my databases and will replicate it in a deserving domicile.”
“It is very…flowery.” Raw’s attempt to placate Strive was weak.
The male wasn’t appreciative of decoration. Very few cyborgs valued design outside of functionality.
“It is very flowery?” The artistic cyborg exhaled noisily. “My work is wasted on you.”
“Your work might not be wasted on my female.” Raw was oblivious to Strive’s emotional damage. The warrior smiled down at the panel. “It is pretty.”
“Pretty?” Strive appeared on the verge of shutting down.
“Find the calm,” Grin murmured.
The glance his friend threw him was the exact opposite of calm.
“We leave at sunrise.” Raw tucked the panel under his right arm. “The warship is situated on landing pad 25632 North. It’s being stocked with supplies and weapons.”
Grin couldn’t process why they needed additional guns. They weren’t at war with Mercury Minor, and they were traveling through cyborg-monitored space.
There were other preparations to be made.
“I’m attaching two panels fabricated from each test material to the exterior of the ship.” He had those sheets manufactured three planet rotations ago. “Their shielding will be in addition to the protection granted by the existing panels.” His gaze shifted to Strive. “That will decrease the probability of their failure killing us all to 0.1257 percent.”
His friend could be overly dramatic.
“The additional drag and weight will decrease our top speed.” The male could also be frustratingly logical. He was a cyborg, was one-half mechanical, one-half organic.
“We’ll utilize that time to formulate a plan to win over my female.” Raw didn’t appear concerned about the delay. “Bring materials. You might have to craft more pretty decorations for her.”
“My art isn’t pretty, you unappreciative bag of bolts.” Strive’s eyes blazed.
“You won’t need those additional decorations.” Grin was 99.5687 percent certain of that. “You operate within spec, my friend.” Unlike him. And unlike Strive. “Once she sees you, once she senses your nanocybotics, she’ll welcome your claim.”
“She’s heard my voice.” Raw didn’t share that confidence.
Cyborgs recognized their genetic matches by their voice and by their scent.
“She’s human.” That might be the explanation. Grin walked toward the structure where he’d stored the extra panels. “She might need more points of connection, but she will bond with you. You’re fully functional.”
“His art-evaluation systems aren’t fully functional,” Strive muttered.
The two males followed Grin.
“I am fully functional.” Raw ignored Strive’s comments. “And she will bond with me.” His tread lightened.
Grin was happy for his friend. Truly.
But he was also extremely envious.

Grin And Bare Him
This cyborg will be the warrior his female requires.
Cyborgs are designed to fight. That is their primary purpose and 98.2356 percent of the manufactured warriors enjoy battle. Tremendously.
Grin, a K model, is one of the rare exceptions. When he escaped his cruel creators, he set down his sword and allocated his processors to less violent pursuits. He projects he’s left his war-waging planet rotations behind him forever.
Then he meets his beautiful, beguiling female, the one being he’s destined to protect, to claim, to love for all eternity, and his plans for peace are completely decimated.
Mohini needs a ship.
She has a dangerous mission to complete and the first step in that assignment is arranging transport to an enemy-controlled planet. The vessel she has set her sights on is guarded by the sexiest cyborg she’s ever seen.
To gain access to his ship, Mohini is prepared to kiss, caress, seduce the muscular male. The mission is her focus. The pleasure she experiences will merely be a bonus.
A female has to do what a female has to do to save the universe.
Grin And Bare Him is a Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.
It features a humanoid female undertaking a dangerous mission, a cyborg intent on keeping her alive, and an enemy with enough firepower to blow up an entire sector.
