Throwback Thursday – Defying Death
The cyborgs’ main focus, now that they have escaped their cruel manufacturers and have settled on the Homeland, is finding their genetic matches, the beings they are destined to be with forever and perhaps produce babies with.
Not much is known about these genetic matches…
Until Death meets his scientist female, Tifara. He would do anything, would gladly trade his lifespan for one moment with his little human.
She is extremely intelligent, in an absent-minded mad scientist sort of way. And her area of focus is viruses, which, at first, she believes the pull between them is.
Tifara will soon uncover it is an entirely different type of science. (grins)
Defying Death
He’ll risk it all for one moment of happiness.
Cyborgs don’t show emotion. Death learned that lesson early in his long lifespan. To survive, he hides his fierce passions behind a stoic wall. He calls no warrior friend. He never admits to caring for any being.
Even the human female he’s destined to love.
Tifara is Death’s obsession, his sole opportunity for happiness, to express the all-consuming passion burning brightly inside him. He’ll do anything to obtain the curvaceous medic: defy a direct order, abduct Tifara from her battle station, and wage war on his fellow cyborgs.
To earn her love, he’ll have to risk much, much more.

A buddy and I were talking about musicals. She thought it was funny that people just burst into song at random times.
I realized…
Not everyone has a soundtrack to their day. (grins)
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I have songs for almost every occasion. He knows, for example, I’m looking at my reviews because I sing the Johnny Cash version of Hurt.
When we do laundry, we tweak the lyrics of the Neverending story theme song to Neverending Laundry.
We often start the weekend with Mufasa’s Friday.
We are truly living in a musical. (laughs)

One Step Further
Science Fiction in novel form, movie form, TV form is often held up as predicting current events.
There’s a reason for that.
Many of us in the Science Fiction realm (and yes, Cyborg Romance, Alien Romance and other SciFi Romance is in that realm) take a current development and then ask ourselves, “What if we took this development one step further?”
That step could be in any direction.
Cyborgs, for example, already technically exist. Many of our wounded warriors have mechanical limbs or eyes or other body parts. There are devices that hook up to human brains today.
Cyborg Romance often takes that one step further. What if we produced cyborg beings? What if we then assigned them tasks we didn’t want to do (like fighting wars we didn’t want to die in)?
This COULD happen. We COULD take that additional step.
If that happens, humans years from now might believe today’s Cyborg Romances predicted the future (i.e. their present).

Muse Food – Gates To Nowhere
You’re tramping around the forest and suddenly, you spot it – a gate in the middle of nowhere.
Do you open the gate? Do you walk through it?
My muse LOVES it when I find a mystery gate.
My mind whirrs.
Where does it lead? Why was it erected? Is it there to keep people out to keep something in?
This gate isn’t a mystery…now. This is La Cueva Del Diablo or The Devil’s Cave. We spotted it in Mazatlán, Mexico. It is located at the bottom of a steep 100 meter ravine and is currently a bit of a tourist attraction It was supposedly used to hide soldiers and ammunition during times of war and there are a gazillion spooky stories associated with it.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – August 7th
Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in November), has been sent to my Awesome Editor!
We’ll have at least three rounds of edits…assuming she loves the story. I might have to burn it to the ground and re-write it completely. (shrugs and grins) That happens. Just because I love a story doesn’t mean it works for…well…anyone else.
I spent this week doing nothing and it was GLORIOUS! I puttered around the garden. I looked up at the stars. I thought about which story to write next.
I’m leaning toward the third core story in the series. It has taken a grip on my brain and I’m super excited about it.
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Spend some time outside, if you can. Listen to the birds sing in the morning (or evening if you’re not a morning person). Touch a plant (that is touch-friendly – don’t hug a cactus – grins). This planet is awesome and we’re fortunate to experience it!

Bucket Lists
Do you have a bucket list, a list of things you want to do and see and experience while on this wonderful planet (or off it if going to space is on your bucket list)?
When I was 16, I developed a funky kind of arthritis. My rheumatologist at the time told me I’d likely be in a wheelchair by the age of 30. I refused to believe that but I also planned for that possibility.
That meant I worked on my bucket list early. I had breakfast in Paris. I snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef. I ran a 5k. I told as many people as possible I loved them as often as possible. I saw Les Misérables on stage.
It was AWESOME and I highly recommend doing this, my friends. Start checking experiences off your bucket list now.
Don’t worry. You’ll find new things to add to it!
(Oh and my rheumatologist was wrong about me being in a wheelchair by the age of 30 but I don’t regret hearing that prediction. It pushed me to do more and to not take anything for granted.)

The Next Story
I’ve submitted Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in November), to my Awesome Editor.
I’ve taken the week off fresh writing.
And I still haven’t figured out what to write next. I should likely write the December free short story but I have NO inspiration for that story right now.
I have plenty of inspiration for Raw Desires, the third story in the Cyborg Unity series (likely releasing in March). Raw is eager to have his story told. (grins)
I’ll think about it for a couple more days.

Throwback Thursday – Dark Strength

It’s The Little Things
In cyborg romances, we read about the BIG moments. They’re saving the universe or fighting evil or boinking against the side of their ship. (grins)
But in life, I believe the little things can also make a big difference in our lives.
I recently broke out a new Sharpie (marker), for example. The ink is bright and the point is crisp. I get a jolt of joy when I use it.
As I got a jolt of joy when I saw a ladybug (ladybird) this morning. He was resting on a rose leaf.
My farming Granddad also claimed ladybug were lucky (they ate many of the bad bugs). And hey, we could all use a little more good luck!
Anyhoo… embrace the little things. They are a great source of happiness.

Price Increases
As you’ve likely noticed, many writers and publishers have increased their book prices over the last couple months.
Very few writers want to do this. We care about our readers, about making you happy, about not causing you more hardship in an already challenging world.
But promotion sites (like BookBub) and booksellers are increasingly expecting a $3.99 base price for 200 page plus novels. They don’t like it when books are permanently priced lower than that and they punish us by not showing our books to reading buddies.
So I will have to increase the prices of my core books at some time in the future.

There are two safe ways to read my books more economically.
You can
1* Sign up for email alerts at Smashwords (you can do that here – https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/CynthiaSax ).
I SEVERELY discount ALL of my stories about 2 or 3 times a year at Smashwords.
I do this to ensure all my reading buddies can own my stories.
All booksellers now use the same format (ePub) and Smashwords will walk you through loading the eBook on your eReader.
Plus it will also reside in your Smashwords library.

2* Borrow my eBooks from your local library.
If an eBook I want isn’t listed at my local library, I email them and they usually buy the eBook and list it within a few days.
Sometimes they’ll buy the next story in the series when it releases without any prompting from me.
