Throwback Thursday – Releasing Rage
Releasing Rage was the very first cyborg romance I published.
It is dark. If you have issues with violence of ANY kind, this might not be the story for you.
But it is near and dear to my heart.
I wrote Releasing Rage because two of my favorite writers were both taking breaks from their cyborg romance series at the same time. I was bellyaching about not having any new cyborg romances to read. A loved one told me to write my own.
So I did.
Half Man. Half Machine. All Hers.
Rage, the Humanoid Alliance’s most primitive cyborg, has two goals—kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that’s all he’s been programmed to experience.
Until he meets Joan.
Joan, the battle station’s first female engineer, has one goal—survive long enough to help the big sexy cyborg plotting to kill her. Rage might not trust her but he wants her. She sees the passion in his eyes, the caring in his battle-worn hands, the gruff emotion in his voice.
When Joan survives the unthinkable, Rage’s priorities are tested. Is there enough room in this cyborg’s heart for both love and revenge?

Forgiveness And Provoking Odium
Will Briella, the heroine of Provoking Odium, eventually forgive the being who betrayed her?
I think she MIGHT forgive that being but I doubt she would ever forget what that being had done. There will always be a voice in Briella’s head telling her that being could do it again.
And that being MIGHT do something like that again. Once we’ve done something once, it is often easier to do it again.
Briella will find peace regarding that being, however. And they will have some sort of relationship.

Briella And Mohini And Provoking Odium
Briella, the heroine of Provoking Odium, pushes everyone away. She doesn’t want to be rejected. Again.
But she can’t push Mohini, the female she rescues in the first chapter, away. Mohini has decided the two of them will be friends and she won’t listen to any information that contradicts that.
She also looks at what Briella does, rather than what she says. (That COULD be because the universal language is Mohini’s second language and she relies more heavily on visual cues.)
Briella’s friendship with Mohini gives her hope that other relationships could form and last also.

Briella And Persistence
When I think of Briella, the heroine of Provoking Odium, I envision an image like this.
I ‘see’ persistence, a beautiful plant (like a fern – I LOVE ferns) breaking through a solid stone wall. A seemingly delicate form has found life in the most hostile of environments.
These plants AND Briella shouldn’t have survived. They shouldn’t be thriving.
Yet they are.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – June 26th
The big news this week was, of course, the release of Provoking Odium! Woot! I’m so excited that this story is out in the world. I hope you enjoy it, my friends!
I pushed back the release of Grin And Bare Him to November. I want this story to be the best it can be and I need more time on it.
As many of you know, my Awesome Mom and my eldest brother both got COVID in a BAD way. I thought I might lose one or both of them. It was very scary for a bit and I couldn’t write during that time. So I fell behind schedule.
But they are okay now. Thankfully. And I am back to focusing on the story. It WILL be worth the wait.

Adventures In Cyborg Unity
As readers of Provoking Odium have likely guessed (smiles), one of the main storylines in the Cyborg Unity will be uncovering why the Humanoid Alliance is targeting the Mohini and the Praecipuans.
We’ll find out more about that in Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the series. Mohini is the heroine of that cyborg romance. She might…MIGHT be able to convince Grin, her genetic match, to fly her to Keid 9. Why she desperately needs to travel there will also be revealed.

Throwback Thursday – Testing Truth
Whenever I think of Truth, I smile. He is such a chaos-loving cyborg. He rushes into situations with both guns blazing and a big ol’ grin on his handsome face.
Princess Nancy, his female, is perfect for him. Being a royal, she is constantly surrounded by drama and over-the-top ceremony. Her entourage adds to this.
There’s never a dull moment around them. (grins)
Testing Truth
A fun-loving cyborg gets serious about love.

Truth lives each moment as though it were his last. The cyborg warrior rushes into danger, teases beings he shouldn’t provoke, accepts every call of adventure he encounters.
When a prissy little human princess floats into the Rebel structure Truth is occupying, seeking a mercenary to assist her and her unusual entourage, he volunteers to be her warrior. She claims their assignment is dangerous, warns him he might not survive the task.
That is exactly the type of fun he has been seeking.
Princess Nanette of the planet Royaume must rescue her estranged brother from an enemy prison ship. That is her duty, and she has been trained to always place the needs of her planet and her subjects before her own. Nancy doesn’t have the freedom to indulge her passions for a certain dark-haired, gray-skinned cyborg. Not permanently and not publicly.
But she is unable to resist the warrior. Truth, with his laughing eyes, smiling lips, and rough hands, tempts her as no one else ever has. He could be her one fleeting act of rebellion before she’s matched with the powerful ruler her planet requires.
If they survive their current mission.
Their love is doomed. Their lifespans are at risk. This cyborg and his princess will need the help of every ally they have if they wish to see another sunrise.
