The spaceships in my cyborg and alien romances are based on water-navigating ships and navies here on Earth. That is a standard in SciFi Romance. Star Trek, for example, heavily borrows from the navy.
This ‘borrowing’ is one of the many reasons I like to take cruises. They serve as inspiration and references for my stories. I go on ship tours. I talk to the crew. Usually, some of the officers have served in their country’s navy. I learn terminology, hear a gazillion stories and uncover strategies.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I take precautions, of course. The pandemic is still happening. But cruises are great food for my muse.
