First Space Books
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I recently stopped by Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, California, and we saw this wonderful display of books to start little ones on their space adventures.
We had very few space-themed books when I was a child. I’m excited that children now have a selection of books to choose from, both fiction and non-fiction. And some of the books have female main characters. Woot!

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – February 27th
The big news this week was, of course, the release of Seizing Power! Woot! I love this story and I really hope you loved it also. Power is such a stinker but he does have a good heart deep down in his frame and he loves Eirene Ours more than life.
This upcoming week, I will continue to work on the first draft of Provoking Odium, the first story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in June). I had to restart this story a few times but now, I have the right beginning and wowsers, it is action-packed.

What’s Next For The Cyborgs?
As Seizing Power completed one of the large story arcs in the cyborg continuum, some reading buddies have been asking me what will happen next for the cyborgs.
Provoking Odium (releasing in June) is centered around Odium finding his female. We heard her voice in Seizing Power. Odium processes she is his and she has rescued some humanoids from the Humanoid Alliance’s clutches but he doesn’t process much else about her.
This will be a common theme in the rest of the stories in Cyborg Unity, the next series in the cyborg continuum. These cyborg romances will center around Homeland cyborgs whose females are currently situated on Mercury Minor. The warriors process they’re destined for these females but process nothing else about them. Their relationships are almost like marriages…or matings of convenience. (grins)
There will be sexy times and violent battles and dangerous missions. The cyborgs’ genetic matches all have agendas of their own. Meeting their big hunky cyborgs is merely a bonus!

Evolution And Climate Change
If I was to choose one science that I most loved, one science that most influences my writing, it would be evolutionary biology, the way living things change over time and under pressure.
There have been few greater pressures than that of climate change. The world around us is changing almost scarily quickly as the average temperatures increase.
But there is good news! Recent studies by Andrew Hendry, Michael Kinnison, and other colleagues have shown that some living organisms have been evolving as quickly as climate change and other human pressures have been unfolding. Female elephants, for example, are evolving to be devoid of tusks, due to humans hunting elephants with large tusks. Because these female elephants don’t have tusks, they tend to eat different plants, which is changing the landscape around them.
Fish tend to be smaller because humans are less interested in harvesting smaller fish. Smaller fish also don’t retain heat as much as larger fish do, which is a benefit in our warming oceans.
Electric pylons are often covered with zinc, which is toxic to most plants. Tufted hairgrass has evolved to be immune to zinc.
This gives me great hope that life will continue to survive on this wonderful planet of ours. These lifeforms will look different than they do now but these differences will ensure species endure and that is such an awesome prospect!

Throwback Thursday – Dark Cure
I view Dark Cure as a bridge story between the Refuge (Dark Thoughts) series and the Chamele Barbarian Warlords series. Oghul, the hero is a Chamele and he reports to Khan, one of his sector’s Warlords.
When Oghul’s gerel, his fated mate, steps into a beverage outlet and picks him to have sexy times with, he is definitely not saying no. (grins) He plans to claim her. Forever.
Gisella, the settlement’s medic, wants one rest cycle of fun with a hunky barbarian warrior. She doesn’t know she has bonded with the alien for a lifetime.
