Most of my stories, although set in a large complex world, can be read on their own. New-to-me readers can start with any of those stories and can follow their plots and enjoy the romance.
That’s not true of Seizing Power, the fifth core story in the Rebel Cyborgs series (releasing in February). It is SUCH a connected story. There are so many beings facing off on each side of the conflict between the cyborgs on Mercury Minor and the cyborgs on the Homeland.
I think it would be confusing for new readers to start with this story.
I like to view Seizing Power as being a story written solely for series readers. You know who Power is. You know who Eirene Ours/Cadet is. You know Rage and Joan and Intrepid and the modified humanoids, the retrievers. This is a story written with you in mind.

Seizing Power
This cyborg believes he’s in control.
Power is the self-appointed leader of the cyborg council. Other members might debate situations. He makes the ultimate decisions.
When a threat to the Homeland is revealed, he takes command of a fleet and ventures to the edge of cyborg-controlled space to investigate. He finds a rebellion led by a mysterious upstart he calls Cadet.
